I love real people like Kevin who know their work who know the hard graft behind things to be perfect and keep running these good old cars, these people are real mechanics and real mechanics who knew every things about cars how they dissemble evrthing and then put back together, now days mechanics are more of just doing service on cars and doing the basics which is OK but not many people want to work hard as due to not high pays but there are some people who don't work for only money but also for fun and to teach us as well show their passion and knowledge, and honor, working on cars on street with basic tools and jack and jack stands isn't easy its not easy even on ramps but working like this is like being a pro I know as my dad is a mechanic and being since 1992 and they used to do clutches and engines on roads with basic tools.

See you are still doing an excellent job Kevin, i've done my first clutch change today after many years a Fiesta 1.4TDCI 2006, i watched your video doing a petrol one the other day to see what needs taking off etc the hardest part i had was the seized suspension bottom ball joints etc so i heated up the bolts fotr the shock/hub to take it off there, i did it on my back at 63 now & i cheated & jacked the box back up, the top bolts on the bellhousing & starter bolts (starter at the back) were a pig to get too but i managed, it wouldn't locater the clutch plate so i turned the flywheel slightly & it dropped in, many thanks for your many videos & great success with your business

@@WMCS Thank you Kevin that was very kind of you, well if you keep up your Weetabix you should be ok lol, i finished it off today starting with those top bolts & starter bolt, i didn't rush it it took me about 2 hours to get it back on it's wheels & moving again as i'd only put one bolt in it yesterday & called it a day, how it moved with the old plate they had worn some of the rivet heads off but the cover & flywheel hadn't got damaged but the cover fingers were worn but it was the original Motorcraft/LUK clutch which had done 160,000 miles

At 19.34 u saw the double universal on the top left trans bolt. Sweet!! Hitting the boots with the running ratchet is also way cool. The number of bolts u get with the ratchet is steadily increasing. Save muscling the Big Boy. That 1/2 impact has a lot of weight. This was a standout vid. A lot more work filming, but SUPERB!!

Thank you very much for this video. I just replaced mine 2007 Civic FK2 clutch, step by step and it worked like charm. I understand it must be difficult to shoot video and work simultaneously, so I just want to highlight, that in 30:49 its the first and in 31:00 is the 4th screw getting back in order of dismantling. I choked on this a bit, when I started with the top 2 screws instead, thinking that its the top view of activity which was not visible from the side... Anyway, thanks a lot for amazing job.

At the 48mins when you took that sensor out to fill the gearbox back up with oil, what sensor is it and how much oil does it require? Also what tools is that to centralize the new clutch kit , is there a good brand to go for? I want to do it myself just to find the time for it its hard..mine done 130K, clutch bite really at low point, pedal is squeaking when I dis or engage the clutch. Did try to lube it but only work for a short time, wondered if i need to replace the clutch cable as well. What is you opinion? Mant thanks, Regards

How many times have we see a throw out (clutch release bearing begin to bind due to a lack of grease, rubber or any other kind? How many times have we seen corroded steel bolts wipe out the threads in aluminum? How many times does the clutch fork bind when the factory installed grease finally washes away? Lubricating rubbing points is done at the factory and redone by Kevin. Having been a tech for over fifty years, u learn your gun, u know how hard to pull your ratchet to achieve the recommended torque. Great skill and attention to every important detail!

@@RaiderOfTheLost standard practice to use abit of grease on the splines to help the clutch plate move away from the flywheel. As for the grease on the bolt holes can’t see that making the clutch fail quicker. Clutch dust sticks like sh*t to everything either way. @@WMCS it's the bearing underneath the gears. Right now my gearbox is rattling when driving in low revs between gears 1 and 3.

Kevin, are you ever asked to make front suspension repairs?

Not only that but other repairs as well. But my one and only task is to replace a clutch.

Hi Kevin could u answer a quick question for me ( is the PHE4 gearbox same as the SPHM ) many thanks fantastic work by the way kevin
@WMCS
@WMCS 2 ай бұрын
Visually yes. But difference will lay in bell housing depth and main shaft having different amount of spline teeth and stater motor location will be slightly off.

From Kevin's other comments I think he would say it Depends on the vehicle. Average time 2.5 hours. For a quote you need to fill a form on his website, I don't think he can give average price.

Hi Kevin. I changed my clutch my self after watching your job but something i missed up i think because if the engine is off i can shift easily but when the engine is running I almost can not put the shifter in the gear. Can you help where can I find the problem? 😔
@WMCS
@WMCS Жыл бұрын
Very easy. You need to bleed the clutch. There is air in the hydraulic system. Otherwise open the brake fluid cap and continuously pump the pedal.

I notice u leave the one axle completely alone. It serves to stabilize when u reinstall trans. Have u always done it that way? Only on cars that allow the trans to move straight off the axle. Correct?

Great observation Bill.., I do that with all Nissan as well. Because the input shaft are quite short and doesn’t need a lot of room on the other side to pull out the box. I did it on the Renault Van as well that I posted last week.
