Just did mine last night. Do yourself a favor get a razor knife and cut the sound proofing located behind carpeting from top to bottom and peel down. Makes removal and install so much easier!!

Yeah fighting that pad is a pain. I was able to pull it down in my truck and push it out of the way a little.

I put a piece of poster weight cardboard over the rubber soundproofing. Like using a bit of cardboard as a shoe horn, it made it much easier to slide the blower out and then back in by stopping the rubber from bunching up as the motor flange dragged over it.

Thank you for really great directions. You weren’t kidding the take out and install would be a challenge but I was successful after much patience and persistence. I really worked on my bolts being even and screwed in but it still has a very slight humming noise when the fan is on high…any suggestions?

If the blower motor is not a Ford one it might be out of balance. The cheaper knockoffs have this issue sometimes.

Tilt the blower motor assembly so that the cage is a little tilted going it. The rubber padding on the firewall will fight you a little. Push on the firewall padding to allow the assembly to have a little more room going in. Make sure the cage doesn't get bound up going in because it is plastic and will break easily if you force it. Hope this helps you out.

Omg!! I’m a large frame guy that back screw was an hour fighting with it. It would probably have been easier if my seat and door wasn’t on the vehicle then I would be able to maneuver in there, but I can only get one arm and I have all the tools and it was a struggle with my large hands, much faster to put it back. I recommend a small skinny person doing the job. I have an older Toyota tundra. It took me 10 minutes to do the same thing on that.

I am a skinny gal and it took over an hour to get out last night and unfortunately I was not able to get the new one back in because of that rubber insulation stuff. I tried everything to get it out of the way. Any suggestions?

The front bolt is the only reachable one. Did you use a a flexible extension on your socket wrench?

No I was able to reach it with a 1/4 drive.

You find a cabin air filter anywhere in the process?

There is not cabin filter on this truck, well at least not on the 2012 Ford Expedition.

My blower went; the resistor plug had a burned socket so I replaced the resistor and the connector. Started her up and blower was still messed up. I ordered a blower overnight from Amazon - those are the only three I should worry about right?

Yeah, Same thing happened to me. Once you replace the blower motor you should be okay. Be careful when putting the new blower back into place, it is easy to damage the plastic cage. I had to push the black padding against the firewall and tilt it up and into place. Hope this helps you out.

I got the cage up and into the hold first, once the plastic cage is in the housing you can turn the plastic housing and bolt it in. I had to pull some of the carpet down and out of the way, then push on the black padding on the firewall to get a little more room so that I could get the assembly up and into the blower motor housing. Hope this helps out.
