2011 Ford Fiesta Throttle Body Remove/Replace...EASY!

My check engine light was coming on periodically for anywhere from an hour to a couple of weeks. It has 118,000 miles. The car was running just fine regardless of whether or not the light was on. I stopped by Autozone when it was on and they checked it for free. They wanted $540 for the new part, so i had to look for a used one. I decided to replace it because I didn't want to risk a sudden breakdown. I found one from a 2013 Fiesta with only 12,000 miles on Ebay from a salvage yard. I paid $70 for the part and an additional $10 for a 6 month warranty. I also bought a new gasket from a Ford dealer through Ebay for about $13. Gasket part number is 4M5Z-9E936-A.

I've had this same problem for probably a year or more. Driven cross country twice, DC to Seattle and back, and I am going to attempt to do this soon as well as clean MAF sensor. This video is so useful, well done! I'll update when I try it myself! Thanks!

Thanks! I had a check engine light for a failed throttle body a while back (turned out to be a bad battery) and the dealer was quoting me around $3k for the service on the throttle body. Glad to know I can do it for about 100 bucks and an afternoon if it ever does go out.

Thank you sir! I removed mine just to clean it but this helped so much as every car is different in where the screws are mounted. Turns out this is quite simple to remove so thank you to Ford too. Also after taking it out noticed the butterfly valve doesn't close entirely flat. After seeing this video it doesn't close flat when new either. Good to know! That it isn't a problem.

My 2014 has started doing the same thing. I just changed the Pedal hoping that sensor was the problem. It wasn't! Now I will try the Throttle Body.

don't know if anyone commented on it, but the notch on the hose at 10:18m needs to be aligned with the notch on the mounting lip, and on the video it is a bit off. I don't know if it is a crucial setting, but that is how it's designed. Once you align the notches, then you can clamp it.

My 2012 Ford Fiesta had that rpm issue, Rpm was jumping up and down suddenly ..didn’t have an engine check light . I got a new throttle body from a junkyard and it’s all fixed!!!

Can anyone tell me if the 2011 Ford Fiesta (manual transmission) has an air intake control valve or not? I can't find it anywhere on my car, but they are available for sale online. However, some forum posts are saying they don't have one.

Nice step by step video, sir. I see that you posted it about a few months ago... I am experiencing TPS issues with my 2011 Fiesta with about the same amt of miles you have on yours. Before replacing the throttle body, do you recall the OBD error code('s) you'd get? Also, after a few month's time, what have your results been to this point? Did replacing it fix it? Thanks.

I don't know what the specific codes were. I stopped by an AutoZone parts store and they checked it for free. Their suggestion was to replace the throttle body unit. It's been over 3 months and 5,000 miles since I replaced it. No more check engine light issue. The car ran fine all along, but I figured it might be an issue at some point and I didn't want to get stranded on the road if I could prevent it. Since it's so small, I decided to keep the old one along with the few tools needed in the trunk in a ziplock bag just in case. Just a thought, you might try removing and cleaning your throttle body and then recalibrate as I did in the video.

Thanks for your video. I have the same vehicle. What did you mean at the end by "I discharged the battery across there. If I hadn't maybe it would have ran a little funky." What do you mean by discharge?

The battery itself stays charged. It's supposed remove electrical charge from the car after disconnecting the negative cable. It erases the computer memory to give a new baseline start with the new part.

GREAT VIDEO Boss..the code I had was P2135...was able to clear it via the code reader...in my case this happened during a period of rain here in So.Cal...am suspecting maybe some water worked its way into the connector so will hit that with some wd40(or equivalent)...the other possible issue could be the gas pedal sensor...like you I'm not mechanic but replacing either looks within my skill range (based on your KZfaq) if you're more mechanically incline troublecodes.net goes through a way to troubleshoot P2135 code via use of an altimeter(?) Thanks for posting will return if I do end up replace to give an update! Update1: Happened again on a dry day so will be ordering replacement part/gasket. Will keep you posted on progress. Update 2: Replaced... able to get Bosch replacement via carid site reasonable price...Thanks again for great video....

PhreeinAG same code for my 2011 Ford Fiesta giving me trouble and I also live in SoCal! Also have P2119 code showing up. Are you all set now with no problems? I'm still trying to prioritize which issues are easiest to solve by myself without going to the dreaded dealer!

yes...no codes since doing install...carid.com had reasonable prices for part...if you're mechanically incline prolly 30 min job...if not... just go slow give yourself time...follow video...

Btw if anyone is reading this I had a P0068 error code, which could be the TBI or the Maf sensor. Strangely enough I took the Maf sensor out a month ago for the 1st time to spray it clean maybe I damaged it! Inexpensive to replace nonetheless.

Got the same error code along with a p0101. MAf looks good. Next up is throttle body cleaning. 110k miles on the car

Thanks for the video. Heres the thing. 1. What codes did you have when vehicle had this issue? Did this fix the problem? 2. Does this vehicle have a throttle position sensor in addition to the throttle body or is it integrated in that throttle body? Mine has the code P0068 so I want to know if this is similar.

I don't remember the code number. I had it read at an Auto Zone store. It is fine now. Don't know about throttle position sensor.

I've got P0068 too, 115k miles. I'm going to check my Throttle Body first, as well as clean my MAF sensor. I will either replace or just clean my throttle body...I'm THINKING that will do the trick. Any update for you? @andres?

@@Garundian00 Vehicle: 2013 Ford Fiesta SE I have P0068 and have cleaned the throttle body and replaced the MAF. It came back today after clearing my codes a month ago. Last thing to replace is the throttle body which is for sale on ford parts giant for about $107. Make sure to buy the new part number 7S7Z-9E926-A, as the old one was removed from the ford market. I have even replaced the intake tube from the air filter to the throttle body. I can send you the link to a pdf manual for the fiesta which shows you how to diagnose P0068. Reading it clearly showed that either the MAF, TB, or intake tube is malfunctioning and replacement of them will clear the issue.

Hmm...not sure what to say. If it were me, I would have someone check the error code. Auto Zone checked mine for free. I don't know what the code number was, but they said to replace the throttle body and I've been OK since. Have you replaced spark plugs and made sure the wires have a good connection? Clean air filter? I'm not a professional mechanic, just trying to think of some things to look at.

Remove your negative battery terminal then with a alligator clip connect the positive terminal to the disconnected negative terminal and leave for a few minutes. Replace the negative terminal and leave your car in the in position for the TB to relearn its base calibration. After a minute turn the car on and let it idle from a full cold to hot cycle. TB relearn done.

There is no MAP on a 1.6 TI-VCT engine it has a MAF on the Intake box above your air filter.

Carb and choke cleaner isn't the right cleaner for an electronic throttle body. It's too string and can damage the coating and/or the electrical motor and gears if it gets in there.
