The seal covers on both ends especially one on rotor side helps keep debri out of wheel bearing. I wouldve left it on but thats just me

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!! DON'T FORGET TO BEND LOCK TAB BACK IN ON AXLE NUT.

Yeah no problem it is tough getting the ball joint back in but it will go

I've paired this video with others. I had to replace the lower ball joint to which took me to other video's on removing other parts to make that a lot easier. Over all this is a good video, but I'd suggest removing the stabilizer bar bracket to make working with the ball joint way easier.

Thanks for this comment! The rotor assembly popped right out of the lower control arm without needing a jack once I detached the sway bar. Seems so obvious in hindsight.

Did you actually jack up the brake rotor? That seems... risky.

hi the dust covers arent necessary dont they serve as spacers for proper clearance as well

Doi need to lube or grease the new axle before putting it in the transmission

I would wipe the seal out and just put a little bit on the seal and you will e good.

I saw a video where they left the seals on on a 2012 forester...what happens if you leave them on?

Sorry I didn't explain that I put that transmission in the forester and when I did I put new seals in it when the car was done the axle was actually bad so I changed it out but I would change them if I was you dont want it to leak and have to do it again

What's a good after market axel or is open from a yard better to save $

Best to buy a new one. Or you will be replacing it again real soon.

You're making more work than necessary take the two strut bolts down disconnect the brakes take the rotor off you can push that down without taking a ball joints off and push to the left and the axle come right out you're doing too much work for nothing it's a 15 minute job
