I used to be a Challenger guy, then I spent a day with a 2011 Shelby GT500 convertible belonging to a friend of my dad's, needless to say I'm happily converted :D Also in regard to Sofyan's daily driver comment, I'm not usually very proficient with stick shifts, but I found it surprisingly easy to drive and it actually had a pretty nice ride to it. It's one of few sticks I actually wouldn't mind being stuck in heavy traffic with.

from what I have noticed in terms of performance with the stang is that it is pretty much the same across the board in terms of model years. I have a 2012 GT. I have driven a 13 and a 14 , they feel the same really. I am betting the Shelby does as well so get a 13 and save a few $ unless you want the LAST LAST LAST year for this gen mustang before it is refreshed for 2015.

I've heard of them, but I wasn't sure if they were available for sale in the US. But since every other source I've read stated that this car had the most powerful production V8 engine in the world, I assumed that was the case, guess that was my mistake then.

Actually my '13 Shelby puts 609rwph down (confirmed on two different dynos...and one mobile dyno). I don't know how much that is at the crank with the drive train loss, but something tells me that it is a little bit more than ford's 662hp rating.

Well, the supersnake is a package, you need to get the 2011 GT500 then bring it to Las Vegas and add maybe over $35000 to modify it to a supersnake, which is not stock.

Seems like people either love or hate Mustangs. I'm a mustang fanboy and love the GT500. I won't ever be able to afford a Shelby GT500 but am happy to have my '13 GT.

good old tremec they feel so different , in the ford it's tight and crisp, dodge it's sort of like wrestling with a octopus tentacle, and well it just doesn't feel right with that oversized shift "knob" in the camaro

The Super Snake package is not from ford. It is from Shelby America which is an aftermarket company. Still one has to wonder why one would need even more power then 662hp:) Bragging rights perhaps, but SA does make some nice aftermarket wheels for the GT50 so owners can put wider tires on (which is a good thing for this car).

Dodge needs to do somthing with the challenger or charger to compete with this haha. I love the challengers retro styling the 6.4 is a great engine but it needs more balls to play with this lol

Base price is 54k and some change but with all the packages this car is the reason why it is 67k. It has every single package avaiable to the GT500. But even at 67k the horsepower of this car is at supercar terrority for les than 1/2 the price.

Where have you sourced that information from? I find it hard to believe a 911 Turbo S would be beaten when corners are involved. Also equally, you could say Ferrari is associated with also having success at Le Mans both before & after Shelby, dominating F1 2000-2004 and being hugely successful in other time periods, plus producing far more and better cars than Shelby over the years.

Ha, what track does it beat any of those? there is no way it would beat a 911 turbo or the SLS or the GT3 or the GT3 they run rings around this in a straight line and in the corners, also the mustang runs out of brakes after about 2 laps

The word is PRODUCTION meaning the engine is built on an assembly unlike the SSC and the Koenigsegg which are both cars with handbuilt engines

For those of you saying the Koenigsegg is the most powerful production V8 in the world, they only make a handful of those. I've seen dozens of GT-500s around. Also, the Koenigsegg is more than 5 times the price of the Mustang with less practicality and only a slightly higher top speed.

Don't forget the Viper SRT10 ACR which hold 7:12 on the Nurburgring, faster than an LFA, GTR, ZR1, 911s and all of you.

this gt500 has a tremec transmission.. different fromt the rest of the mustangs that has the MT-82 transmission.

its also 20 grand more.

To bad over 60k expensive they should put a better transmission because the transmission on fords don't last long and they are all the same they need to change the transmission in the future like in 2016 they should have really good transmission such as a transmission from a chevy corvette but made by ford but still similar

Get it as a track car? Bad idea. Unless Ford makes the brakes bigger and does something about the serious oil temperature, reserve your "tracking" to 1 lap. Sure, it'll perform well IN THE RIGHT HANDS, but after lap 2, you'll actually SMELL the brake fade and your oil temp will be kissing the red. Not good.

SVT re-engineered the entire car to be an all-around performer, it is faster than every car I mentioned around any road course, and a $200 set of track-compound brake pads isn't much of an expense, but they don't work on the street. 99% of street brake pads won't hold up to road courses no matter which company they're coming from apart from carbon ceramics, which are what, 10 grand? That's almost 1/5 the price of a new GT500. If you're going to track a car, set it up properly. It's common sense.

It should be pretty obvious at the price tag that Ford cut corners in some areas of the car. You may complain that there is plastic in the interior, but are you complaining about the most powerful v8 in the world? And at the base price and performance you really can't complain about plastic being in the interior

Relax, I realize I have a lot of Ford videos, trust me, I don't want to always just do Fords and I'm not trying to be biased toward them. I just have to watch what I say in videos since I have superiors that watch them. You can tell from my body language and little things I do in the videos when I notice flaws, and trust me this car had plenty of them. I would personally rather have a GTR over this car any day, its just overkill for me
