How did the Tesla Model S age? In this video I will review original 2013 Tesla Model S 60 kWh rear wheel drive pre autopilot. Biggest differences between this almost 10 years old Tesla and a brand new one is:
1. Battery capacity = Range 100kWh vs 60kWh 400miles vs 180 miles.
2. Autopilot hardware vs no autopilot. Some prefer no ability to control vehicle remotely.
3. Frunk space - Original Tesla huge frunk! New one not so much.
4. Rear wheel drive vs all wheel drive. Rear wheel drive could be fun! Different dynamics great traction less weigh more efficiency.
Is the original Tesla the best value right now? You can find one under $20K. You can save a lot of money if you don't care about autopilot now!

I love that green, I wanted a 2014 S CPO but held off. Now I own a 2020 Model Y but wish they offered that green today. It looks stunning, its styling is timeless and your description of the styling clues is spot on. Replacing the 12V battery may cure your slow screen times.

Great to hear, since you got the refreshed front fascia your car will look like a brand new model S for many years to come. New Plaid model looks identical on the outside. The best aging cars in my view! Enjoy your Tesla and remember if you guys ever visit NY holler! :)

Very useful points annd observations. I'm just looking at a 2014 60kWh version with just 1750 miles, so will look at the negatives you raised, particularly the screen leaks etc.

Yes please make sure that mcu was upgraded. Also ask how often was the car supercharged and the battery health. There are apps that can provide it. Also Tesla can determine based on the cell health. Mine has 75% battery health now. Meaning 25% is gone forever.

The bubbling is most likely the laminated protective layer of the screen separating. If the actual liquid from the screen was leaking, it wouldn’t function at all.

My tip for the 12V battery. It dies because this car has more 12V electronics then any other car and Tesla is not charging as often as it should. To save the power you have in the main battery pack. What I have done on my MS 70D is I put clamps on 12V battery and every time I don't drive the car longer I put a 12V battery charger on. I cut the wire of the 12V charger and put a connector in the middle so I can easily just connect it up don't have to disassemble the frunk. Or just get Ctek mxs 5.0 it has that middle connector already.

That is a great advise, I'm not sure if I will be able to do this because I park in a public garage. No power outlets in the area either just a Chargepoint charged. I really appreciate you sharing this with me. And yes this 12v battery is burried deep in the original version of the S. 🤯

@@misaelortega653 Hi Misael, I did get a quote from a old Tesla Veteran Jason Hughes a cost of about 14K to upgrade 60 to 85. At that point upgrade didn't make sense, that price included trading in the old battery for reuse. Jason is probably the best known Tesla Hacker. Great guy! In addition I believe once these old Tesla batteries start dying Tesla will offer 10K battery pack upgrades. That is what Elon promised at some point and time.

@mrcharles3061 2 жыл бұрын
@@electrifiedmotors At tesla depending on the dealership you can go and ask a service center to get a next generation seats upgrade and they can hook you up with awesome seats ink installation and conection to your car so it works like it was always like that. It's great makes it a new car like the MCU2 upgrade. If you know a private service place you can make the upgrade for 3000 dollars or less if you buy the seats yourself on ebay motors but test through tesla first it worked for me and im super happy. Have heard some other people had truble with it and went private so it's really all about how kind your tesla service center is. If you go private you won't get new seats, you will have to buy used once so they have some wear on them.

It did but it only affects driving at low speeds when you dont have your foot on the accelerator. It stops the car, like when it's rolling slowly. When you drive in these older models it doesn't make any difference apparently.

How does it do in winter?
@electrifiedmotors
@electrifiedmotors 3 жыл бұрын
Winter makes it worse, range drops to about 145 miles while driving with the heat on. Also like any other Tesla when parked outdoors you can expect to loose up to 10 miles per day. With a smaller battery that takes even more planning given you want to keep your battery between 20-90%. This is the reason this battery after 140k miles and almost 10 years only lost about 18% of total original range. Home charger is a must.
