Why would Toyota cover motor mounts on an 8 year old vehicle with over 140k miles? Seems like an odd expectation. Does the AWD system on this torque the motor more so also?

Hi Bob, the customer recently purchased the Rav 4 from the dealer. A few months later the transmission failed. The fluid was black , not a good start for a Toyota Certified vehicle. When they replaced the transmission the mounts already had alot of wear on them as you can see in the video (especially the transmission mount upper). So when the customer picked up there vehicle it had all kinds of noise it never had before. When the customer complained they blew them off and said it's all normal noise. The customer drove over 40 miles to my shop for a second opinion. This is why I made the video. When the transmission was out it would have been pretty easy to replace 3 of the mounts. Being dishonest with the customer is the worst part Bob.

Advise the owner to spend the money and get OEM mounts, I made the mistake of putting after market crap on my old Corolla and from the get go, I felt like if I had installed hockey pucks instead.

@@JohnSadlersAutoRepair I say, any part that costs a lot to replace, always buy the best you can get. you will save money in the long run.

@@john1240able It has a sealed transmission and the customer told me the fluid was black. I personally don't think the fluid had ever been changed. I drain and refill them every 60 to 70,000 miles with the factory fluid from Toyota.
