2013 Volkswagen Beetle vs Eos Convertible snowy 0-16 MPH Mashup Review

( www.TFLcar.com ) The brand new 2013 Volkswagen Beetle convertible and the VW Eos are cars tailor made for warm and sunny destinations like California and Florida. While the VW Beetle convertible has a soft top that folds down for topless driving fun, the Volkswagen Eos has a hardtop that also folds down in a ballet of engineering prowess. Both car will seat 4 people and both cars are front wheel drive. Both cars of course offer year round driving fun but how do these convertibles fare in the cold North when the snow starts to fly and the roads freeze. We decided to find out by putting both convertibles to the very first TFLcar 0-16-0 MPH test, as well as our brand new snowball performance roof test in another fun TFLcar Mashup review.

I'm in VW Eos team! I prefer Hard Top Convertibles (because are more safety, even than Soft Top Convertibles got more boots space, but can be broken by a fool and can be steeled) can carry 2 adults perfectly in the backseats, got a lots of airbags, economic fuel engine, even if you need to carry all boots space but wants to feel the air you have sunroof too

I added the Eos to my 36 year-old cherry Mercedes 300TD station wagon and it's performance, adaptability and sophistication blew me away.

I had a Super Beetle years ago (the first "larger" bug, with curved windshield) and it was a trooper in winter. That was with the air-cooled rear engine. Heat inside was quick and dependable, and the ride was high enough that I never got stuck - in OMaha, mind you, where there is plenty of snow and lots of hills. Fond memories of that sure-footed little car.

VW/Audi/Bentley and a few other companies are currently Cold weather testing their vehicles up here in Fairbanks Alaska for their cold weather test, the past couple months have been in the -40 range constantly , it warmed up to -18f today :D as a owner of two roadsters i would go for the hard top cars instead of a 0-16 test you guys should do a 0-40 feet and then to stop test in winter ;) this was a fun video keep up the great work :D

I am surprised how "tinny" the doors sounded when both Roman and Nathan closed the doors (9:16). I have an older Passat that sounds much more solid when closing the doors. Maybe it was just the audio from the camera, but it did sound like a tin can.

I drive a Civic And here in Georgia it gets around 30 degrees. When I'm in park the car gets cold and doesn't not heat up, only when I drive the needle moves to it's middle part of the engine temp.

I never understood the Eos. It doesn't really seem to have any features my GTI doesn't other than the convertible top but it's almost twice as much? It seems to be aimed at people who have a lot of money to spend on a car but know nothing about about them.

By the way , for around $4,000 less you can get a fully loaded Chrysler 200 convertible with the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 as compared to the VW Eos.

thats no winter comme to the province of QC to do a winted drive there are already 3 feet of snow and we are in a snow storm were it just felt 47cm of snow in one daye

$42k for the EOS is alot. Cause for $40k you can get a decent A5 and I'm sure for around $42k you can get a A5 convertiable. And for 5k more you can get a S4.

The Eos is a car that I actually hate. Why would you buy this over a BMW 1 convertible or even a Chrysler convertible? What a wast of Volkswagen engineering. The Bug is now OK. I would rent one if they were available. Volkswagen , Please build the bluetect RWD sports car. You may only sale 10k cars a year but it will be a rolling billboard for, quite honestly a company that is already the most profitable car manufacturer on the planet.
