2014 Super Street Fighter Track Shootout

For this test, we're taking some of the baddest liter-class naked streetfighters - the BMW S1000R, Ducati Monster 1200S, Kawasaki Z1000, KTM Super Duke R, and MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR - out to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway for a thorough thrashing. While all these bikes were designed primarily as street bikes, we were pleasantly surprised how well each handled track duties. Which one would we pick to ride to the track, do a trackday, and ride home? Watch the video to find out.

The KTM looks great, but the Kawa looks like it came straight out of a Anime show. Saw it in the flesh, in that colour combo, looks amazing!

Guys i see everyone is complaining about not including the Tuono or the Triumph. The purpose of this shootout (if you actually read the article in the link provided above) is to chose the top two and compare them against the Tuono in a final shootout. The BMW and the KTM won the top two spots (read the article again). They will be compared with the Tuono. The triumph is not included because there are no significant changes from last year when the Tuono defeated it. Did anyone notice that they shot the beginning and end of the video at on time? Smart move instead of lining the bikes up again after testing, but look at the exact positions the bikes are parked, it's the exact same in the end as it is in the start of the video.

The Monster is a Streetfighter? You are aware that Ducati produced a streetfighter. It was named the Streetfighter. The Monster line was created to compete with Harleys and Bonnevilles.

I am confused on why the focus is so much around the track... the Diavel and the Speed Triple and Z1000 are fun as heck on the street. I have a track bike (an r6) to hit the track and I have my every day z1000 for the road. To mee the most fun is the flat torque curve. PURE GRUNT urban assault machine. I wont be hitting any curves on the street like I do on the track, so why should I be worried about how far it can lean, it leans plenty to cover spirited rides with superbike buddies, but more comfortably.

Jonathan Tang Correct in that the Diavel is more of a power cruiser as it is usually compared against the VMax.Unfortunately the latest Monster because of it's ground clearance limitations and 1511mm wheelbase and conservative steering geometry is no Ducati Streetfighter in performance or handling. Ducati do now have to many model variants.If only they would produce a model in between the Multistada and the Streetfighter but a true naked designed not from a undressed superbike.Oh there is a bike like this that has 123NM @ 6500RPM and 103KW @8500RPM best road sports naked and best kept secret in motorcycling.Eats the Speed Triple looks similar but has a 1200cc VTwin.A bullet proof engine which is a little bit heavy by today's standards that is over engineered but will out last all the other Italian VTwins.Designed by a famous Ferrari engineer by the name of Franco Lambertini.

MV Will be my bike of choice because is fantastic on the track, doing a great job on the street and they are tank... That bike can be beat by is owner and will always deliver without breaking..But would like to see the Aprillia too... Kim seem a awesome bike but there is something that I don't like on it... Always on the stand to fix something...talking by experience..

Can somebody please help me out here? When they say the ktm 1190 is 150+ hp how does it hold up in a drag race against a 1000cc ninja or R1. As the ktm is lighter and has more hp. That doesn't make sense to me if it was actually faster. Can't picture it.

Bryan Sherman Because Muhammed Ali Didn't fight five contenders at once, he just beat the piss out of the best of the rest. What does it matter anyway if the Duc can't beat the KTM why would you compare it to the Tuono?

Great video guys! Can anyone give me his opinion about which motorbike to buy? I have in mind the MV Agusta Dragster 800 or the Kawasaki Z1000 ($13500 budget max). I am a tall guy and I feel that the seat position of the Dragster could be a bit uncomfortable to me. However, I saw that the seat height to the ground in both motorbikes are almost the same. +Nano Orte z1000 is beast... and have many mode controlls.if u want to use for a long period i will suggest u to buy z1000.

gulshan devnani Thanks for your opinion! As far as I am concern, the Z1000 has no driving modes like the Dragster. In terms of technology I believe that the MV is quite better than the Z1000.

I owned an '08 KTM Superduke. The fueling was terrible. Gearing was too tall, if you shifted to second before 30 mph it would shutter, so I went one tooth smaller in front, but then it was too revvy at sustained freeway speeds. And too small for a normal size guy (6'-2"). KTM seemed to fix most of those things with the SMT. I love and hate KTM, not sure I could do it again.

Testing on the track .. nice! Im sure most people will take the street fighter on the track on a weekly basis. Whats next .. saying they suck because the lap times were not as good as a liter supersport ... that the 1000 RR is better?? Talking about clearance... seriously? Its a street fighter!!

Tudor Popa they did a street review and a track review. if you were paying attention at all you would have heard them say that they're street bikes and they realize that most people aren't going to be taking them to the track. there are roads out there that have nice curves in them and are fun to hit at higher speeds kind of like going around curves on a track at high speeds. its nice to know what kind of ground clearance the bikes have compared to one another weather it will be ridden on track or street.
