Dear Michael......first time I viewed this I realised that this was special and needing an immediate 'bookmarking'. Second & third viewing had me realising that Bhagawan was unquestioningly all I will ever need for guidance (truth is, long thought so but was lately a tad mixed up). Latest view has me now fully realising what a truly marvelous job YOU'VE done here in conveying Bhagawan's teachings. Great job, bro.

Best, to the Point teachings of an enlightened being I have ever come upon. Thank you Michael. This recording, should be listened to replaying continuously, in a quiet solitude, without any physical movement in a totally dark place (or simply using a sleep-eye-mask) and turning within to our own source, that we are. Keep listening and turning in, Pure Bliss is awaiting. Food in stomach feels heavy. Acids & feces inside intestines are the main cause of Ego-thoughts. For clear, calm mind, substantially decrease diet, and perform good double-enema (use 2L twice in a row to flush out intestines) each morning right after getting up. Of course SKIP any breakfast or lunch, otherwise you are back to serious thought creation. With no digestion and minimal acidic feces in intestines our Mind calms down, and we can better focus our attention & much easier turn inwardly. While continuously listening with eye-mask on, the voice of Michael will start to fade into background, while constantly turning within. Keep on focusing within.... . (To focus means to let go of all other). 🙏🙏🙏

You need no t understand all these haughty concepts - they are just medicine for the over- complicated mind . Thank you so much for these videos. Bhagavan appeared in my dream twice a few months ago, and that is what shook me and initiated my delving into his works such as "Naan Yaar." At one point I had a deep existential crisis where I kept asking myself "Why do I want to exist?" if happiness is in the source of nonexistence. And yet, even after knowing that this is all a dream, my ego is still traumatized by this fact 2 months later, due to all of its desires and attachments. It's still like a shock to me- it may take more time for this to fully sink in, having lived over 30 years (and many lifetimes) convinced by the dream.

Thank you for sharing. I was thinking what a thrilling experience it would be if Bhagavan appeared in my dream. And in a way he has appeared in my dream, this so-called waking state. In the form of his teachings and in the form of Michael's blog and videos, and of course in the form of the holy hill Arunachala. So Bhagavan's grace is ever-present and always available, and it's just my foolishness that I don't immediately try to turn fully within and surrender to him.

Awesome knowledge of Ramana’s teachings and very uplifting talks- I follow closely Michael’s talks for the same reason he says he feels the urge to deliver them, i.e. they are a constant reminder of the reality/truth. On top of this Michael is more credible than other talk deliverers who call themselves teachers, mainly through his unpretentious appearance, and modesty, claiming he’s one of ‘us’… However, there is one area where Michael seems to be inconsistent in his approach- on one hand he’s emphasizing the need to perseverance in abiding in the truth of our real nature and on the other he keeps talking about our moral and ethical obligations towards others and animals due to experiencing reality in the body. As such we need to take compassionate action [feed the hungry but not with meat...]. From my perspective by abiding in the Self these kind of issues won’t appear as in an egoless state there are no separate others or a world. I doesn’t need to be intently compassionate, compassion will happen by itself without the intervention of any body or thing. I am with Allen on this one: this is a paradox- in the I where there is no wrong to make right and such no need to intervene to change ‘the dream’ and yet compassion happens. In the egoless state there is no poverty, hunger, suffering… and yet the body will do what it needs to be done in terms of behaving compassionately.

May share my understanding: One takes birth, grow up, create multiple relationships in this +36000 days of short worldly journey with focus on self - ego - i and then die: a short drama of troubles, turmoil and sorrow and happiness! Start the next journey based on experiences, tendencies in one of the many creatures in this universe! Maharamna Rishi’s research and investigation teach us to focus on ‘I/Self/Atman/God’ which you are and live this +36000 days worldly journey with heavenly experiences, and one’s internal and external responses should be based on your focus to your true Self to releave oneself from the cycles of birth and death since you are abiding in your permanent Home/Self!

The challenge is how to perform worldly tasks and being aware at the same time. To perform worldly tasks we need thought which is manifestation of ego.

Please consider the note that Bhagavan wrote for this mother in December 1898 (happinessofbeing.blogspot.co.uk/2016/06/why-should-we-rely-on-bhagavan-to-carry.html#dec98note), in which he explains that our mind, speech and body will be made to do whatever they are destined to do, that nothing will happen unless it is destined to happen, and that whatever is destined to happen will certainly happen, so we can surrender all thoughts about worldly tasks, since they will be done even if we devote all our attention only to our fundamental self-awareness, 'I am'. Attending only to ourself and thereby giving no room to the rising of any thoughts about anything else is the correct practice not only of self-investigation (ātma-vicāra) but also self-surrender, as explained by Bhagavan in the first sententence of the thirteenth paragraph of Nāṉ Yār? āṉma-cintaṉaiyai-t tavira vēṟu cintaṉai kiḷambuvadaṟku-c caṯṟum iḍam-koḍāmal ātma-niṣṭhā-paraṉ-āy iruppadē taṉṉai īśaṉukku aḷippadām. English translation: Being ātma-niṣṭhāparaṉ [one who is steadily fixed in oneself], giving not even the slightest room to the rising of any cintana [thought] other than ātma-cintana [thought of oneself], alone is giving oneself to God.

If we know the difference between awareness as the non-experiencing 'witness', which is our IMMEDIATE being and the apparent world which includes everything from the body you think you are to the vast universe, then we can discriminate using our God-given intellect, knowing I=awareness am real and this world is only apparently real and so in this way I dismiss the world and take a stand in awareness as awareness. This practice is one technique in Vedantin self-inquiry. Another is opposite thought...Whenever a desire or fear comes up from the causal body, [desire and fear are just proxies for the ignorance "I am small, inadequate and limited"] one should contemplate the purifying thought I am whole and complete, actionless, non-dual, aware conscious existence. Actually self inquiry needs to be taught to you by a qualified teacher who is establised in the self as the self, as if you "go it alone" your own ignorance is very likely to color the practice and you won't reap the fruit that translates into 'your' life as real freedom and peace. shiningworld.com..

As Bhagavan said, the mind is very gross and blunt at first. It requires persistent practice to become sharp and subtle. In that very subtle state of mind, it can penetrate deep within when the inquiry is done. Otherwise, inquiry done at a gross level is just as distracted as the wandering mind. Then it determines that “this doesn’t work” and gives up. Those who have persisted in this for many lifetimes (like Bhagavan) have appeared to have succeeded quickly and easily- but it takes a lot of persistence to first sharpen the mind.

Dear Michael, I studied Advaita for sometime and became really depressed, I found the more I went inwards and away from the world, rather than aquiring peace, I experienced a mental health crisis. I had to give up the practice. Why did this happen? I was gradually losing interest in the world and the things that interested me, butcall that was left was a meaningless void, and the feeling that the world is unreal spiked my anxiety. Why would I find Advaita if it were to have this effect on me?

Hi Michael, is it possible that we are living the same life/dream over and over again? That Prarabdha karma (predetermined life events) and Deja-vu (feeling that I've seen this scene before) are related? If this is the case, then I find myself reacting to the same events in the same way lifetime after lifetime, until I can break that cycle in wisdom that it's just a dream and say "I don't mind what happens..." because I'm not going to get caught up in this dream anymore and remain in the true self..

Because the speaker is frenetic. Bhagavan, his life and teaching, radiated peace. He used few words, and his preferred method was silence. Frankly, it is difficult to see how this man's enthusiasm can be sincere, since he has worked himself into a loquacious frenzy, infatuated with concepts and a cult of personality. The commenters mostly seem dazzled by his passion and verbiage, but, I suspect, these are the pitfalls; not the path.

What is purna (contrasting with shunya)? You mentioned that Shunya is emptiness but Bhagavan said the ultimate is not emptiness, it is purna.
@SriRamanaTeachings
@SriRamanaTeachings 4 жыл бұрын
Bubba, pūrṇa means what is full, whole, complete, entire or all (see www.sanskritdictionary.com/?iencoding=iast&q=pūrṇa ), whereas śūnya means what is empty, void, non-existent or zero (see www.sanskritdictionary.com/?iencoding=iast&q=śūnya ). Our real nature, which is pure awareness, is pūrṇa, because it is all that actually exists, so it is the infinite fullness of existence, awareness and happiness (sat-cit-ānanda), and it is śūnya only in the sense that it is completely devoid of ego (subject) and phenomena (objects), which are non-existent, because though they seem to exist in the view of ourself as ego, they do not actually exist.

I don't feel the dream state to be 5 senses operating, and it's because of that we conjecture the waking state is real since it makes the dream state pale by comparison. We have no experience of a state with more than 5 senses and for this reason we consider the waking state to be reality.
@edzardpiltz6348
@edzardpiltz6348 5 жыл бұрын
You also don't feel the five senses operating in the waking state. What you feel is that you are experiencing a world that is made out of matter and many different objects. If you would experience seeing, hearing, touching ect. taking place in form of a sort of a projection onto the screen of your mind, you would realise that the center you're are so used to think of as "I" went somehow missing. 😘

Philosophy, Sartre in particular, would deny that there is anything such as intransitive awareness. Awareness must be of something, or what is it awareness of? As soon as you are aware of even just being aware, now awareness is the object, and you are observing awareness. I do not think we are aware of our sleep. I think we infer it. We can recall our dreams, and we might say we did not dream all night, so there must have been a period of sleep, but that does not mean we were aware of our awareness. Also, the fact that we are not aware of the world while asleep is particularly unconvincing when it is argued that therefore the objective world arises when our ego arises. That is far too solipsistic for my tastes. We blink and the sun disappears, for us. No one believes the sun disappears; similarly, we sleep and the world does not disappear. Where is the evidence one can see pure awareness, or failing that, that awareness of nothing exists. And so what if we can have pure awareness of nothing at all; what does that prove, exactly?

should we give up thinking entirely?
@SriRamanaTeachings
@SriRamanaTeachings 6 жыл бұрын
What we need to give up entirely is the thinker. We give up thinking entirely whenever we fall asleep, but thinking returns because we have not eradicated the ego, the ‘I’ who thinks. The ego is the erroneous self-awareness ‘I am this body’, in which ‘this body’ refers to whatever body we currently experience as ourself, whether in this state or in any other dream, so we can eradicate it only by being aware of ourself as we actually are. Therefore rather than being concerned about thoughts, we should be concerned about ourself, the thinker: who am I? That is, we need to investigate ourself by being so keenly self-attentive that we experience pure self-awareness, which is what we actually are.

Words are such a distraction. Who is the self that experiences, or what is that personal self? Simplification?

I dont believe real intuiton is ever wrong. It is how you interpred it. Maybe he believe it is intuiton when it was'nt. The senses do tell you the truth Intuition does.

It's my belief Brahma is worshipped by the Jews. I believe they began this after leaving Persia. They wanted to create a new place to live, that was theirs alone.

I love listening to Michael. However I feel he is very attached to the external person of Ramana Maharshi. I will have to disagree with him that Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings are any different from Bhagwan. They are indeed the same. Just like Bhagwan has been heard saying / advising things like japa, saatvik diet and other rituals to people who were not ready to take on self enquiry, similarly, Maharaj who would usually always focus on I AM have had occasions where he told people what they were ready for. Infact Nisargadatta Maharaj was more insistent on the issue of I AM than anything else even more than Bhagwan since the personal attribute of Bhagwan was more agreeable and soft while Maharaj was more aggressive. But they both pointed to the ultimate truth and when talking about truth there can be no difference regardless of who expresses it and how it is expressed. To me all the teachings are the same whether it comes from Bhagwan or Maharaj or Kabir or Bulleh Shah or Rumi. .. they all pointed to the ultimate truth.
