Sharing nothing in common with its predecessor, the 2nd-generation Chrysler 200 has been completely redesigned to give segment stalwarts a run for their money. Is the latest 200 a legitimate challenger to entrenched nameplates like Camry and Accord? KBB’s Zach Vlasuk finds out in this video.

I'm renting one for a week (got a free upgrade), since my old daily driver is currently out of commission. I was pleasantly surprised at the features offered in this car. It's nice to not have to fumble for keys to open the door or start the car. The gear selector knob and parking brake switch are pretty cool, and it's been fun playing with the UConnect. The one thing I will say is that the transmission feels a little hesitant and jerky at times, and the brakes are also a bit grabby. Otherwise, it's been nice.

+hoopfan71 I love the keyless entry I'm gonna be sad when I have to go back to my daily driver and have to dig for my key again I've only had the 200 for about 2 days and already I feel spoiled lol. You are absolutely right about the breaks. The shift knob is a bit weird to get used to after a while you get the hang of it as for the engine the 2.4 is plenty enough pep to get on the highway at lease for me if you need or want more power go for the V6
@DIYApprentice
@DIYApprentice 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the 2.4L has just enough power to make the driver feel confident when changing lanes to pass. I'm used to driving Honda/Acura cars, albeit older Hondas, and I will say that the visibility in the 200 is not like what I experience in my Hondas. It's not terrible, but I've found myself checking my blind spots more frequently and cautiously than I would in my Hondas.

Probably the biggest reason this car didn't sell was Chrysler's history. They've been making crappy small and mid-size cars for 20 years that weren't reliable. Consumers weren't willing to give them another chance, especially in light of all of the truly great choices in this segment.

KyleTVProductions Exactly, that's why they should produce good Chrysler SUVs to change opinion, because it's still a recognizable brand worth saving. If they keep making 2 models only, brand public recognition will fall and name can go to trash. But instead, FCA prefers to sell foreign, italian low recognizable brands in the US at any cost.

I have the 2016 Chrysler 200 Anniversary Edition with the V6. And on my long trips on the interstate, I've got the MPG up to 36.8! In my experience, this car is happiest when it's driving on the interstate. It's the best vehicle I've ever drove, and they are reasonably cheap. I've seen 4 cylinder models of the 200 go for as low as 18,000!

I have 13,107 miles on my vehicle now and there was one instance where my vehicle revved a bit too high for a few minutes but went away after the vehicle warmed up. And when I'm driving down the road sometimes the car feels like it is jerking back and forth ever so slightly. It might be because of the 9 speed transmission it has and that the transmission has to warm up before it operates smoothly. But those are my only complaints I have about the vehicle. I got my MPG to 40.6 on a trip a while back, beating my previous record, and that is really impressive for a V6. The seats are comfortable, the touchscreen to control everything is super convenient, and my vehicle has paddle shifters which are pretty fun to use. So overall, I am still very happy with my 200.

I hoped in my friends chrysler an i have to say i loved the interior design i love how there is so much storage and how comfortable the seating leg room space is and the compartments below the shift there is a place to put more stuff. There is car adapters on both sides for phone charging and other stuff. It is too bad that it will discontinue I would recommend this one the only two interior designs i like so far is this one and the Lincoln mk2 which has similar space.

That V6 sounds oddly powerful for a vehicle that is so focused on fuel economy. Is it only available with the AWD system? What are the torque figures? I can't imagine there's much low end torque with a vehicle that is obviously attacking the Camry rather than the Mazda6. Does the vehicle try to keep around 1500 RPMs with all those gears?

I also had the 200 Anniversary edition with the V6 engine. After many many years with it (since early 2018), and not a single problem or accident over the years we spent together, my 200 just gave out last week, so me and my husband made the hard financial decision to trade it in for something newer with less mileage. It had about 77k miles which is not that bad for its years, it just got a bit old and the engine had a problem that was a bit too expensive for me. It was cheaper to get a new car, so we did and I'm super excited about it, but I will always smile when I see a 2nd generation 200 out there. It was the first car I bought with my first job fresh out of HS. Took me everywhere! So many good memories in it. (Some people will think I'm crazy but I even gave it a hug and thanked it for everything when I left it at the dealership lol) I hope the dealership gives it a good fix and finds it a good new owner that treats it as good as I always tried to treat it, cause I truly loved that car... So many people call them trash but I loved mine so so much! I'm gonna miss my boy, but off to new adventures for both of us! ❤‍🩹🚗

vernon rodgers I also was thrown by the typical bad reviews for this little buggy...I test drove a 2016 200S with 8k on the dial and was Very pleasantly surprised at the Horsepower &Torque pull even at 40 mph in Sport Mode. Wow,was actually pulled back into my seat as if I just launched a 331 hemi off the line. Sheesh, I was wondering why there’s 295 horses and 265 ft pounds of torque in such a small car but sh*t who cares this thing is Fun! I went ahead and bought it. Yes I did feel the “slight” funky shift patterns but I learnt already how to overcome them. Still has 1 1/2 years on basic warranty left and at least 4 1/2 on drivetrain warranty. So by then mebbe I’ll tire of it and move on. Just all smiles for the time being.

It annoys me so much that Chrysler gets a bad rep because of their name. I buy their products and they have proven to be comfortable and reliable yet people still deem them to be bad cars and if there were just willing to drive one then they would realize what they are missing out on. Also, I don't like how car reviewers are hesitant to recommend their cars when they clearly like them.

nice, but ill take a Fusion over this. Also how does it compare to the Fusion. Since Chrysler bench marked it for the 200.

Fusion Titanium is a slug compared to the 200 V6. It really needs to inherit the Mustang Turbo's 2.3 engine to be competitive.

The Fusion is a bit slower, but not by that much. The driving experience is overall much better in the Fusion.
@oldtwins
@oldtwins 9 жыл бұрын
DevPack It's not a bit slower, it's a lot slower. Not competitive when compared to the V6 accord, camry, and 200. The car is too heavy. Like I said, it needs the 2.3 turbo engine to be competitive.
@DevPack
@DevPack 9 жыл бұрын
2.3 would be nice, but the 2.0T is good enough these cars are not meant to be fast anyway lol. 2.0T get to 60 in 6.8 secs thats plenty quick for a family sedan.

Hi, I want to tell u something. Sometimes I am a kind of seer or I invent something in my mind and few later I see the product that I imagined. This is the case of Chrysler 200C. When I saw Chrysler 300C I said to my self "They must to make a car fine like this but less huge" and the name might be something like 200C (for being smaller, shorter). And time later I saw in internet that that name is reallity. Itis funny, brcause I thing (only in my mind) taht I had participation in it name. I'm Christ from Santiago Chile. XD

Not a fan of the electric gear selector on Chrysler vehicles. Its just weird lol
@hlcepeda
@hlcepeda 9 жыл бұрын
The electronic gear selector actually makes sense. Why have a big handle sticking out of the console and getting in the way when you can have a smaller, less intrusive control and thereby create room for other things. Imagine that all cars had always been equipped with electronic gear selectors, then someone came along and came out with a car with the kind of shifter you see today; they'd be a laughing stock.
