Isn't there a stand pipe in the transmission pan? Remove the plug, fill from top and run car till around 114ish fluid temp and when the pan fluid is trickling out of plug hole reinstall drain plug and ship it...after programing of course

Some of them too, but I’m not sure about this one. I normally include the fill information in the video.

Dose need realignment after removing the cv axle?

Not duty removing the axle but maybe because we remove the sub frame the steering wheel straight when you’re done and you don’t need to align it if the steering wheels off, you might need to adjust the sub frame or rack

Did you guys open the replacement CVTs supplied by Nissan? Are they identical to the original ones?

IS there a guide on programming these ? I just purchased a new transmission from Nissan for an 18 Altima today and will be installing it tomorrow. I have the disc for programming it. Can it be done on the computer ? Or do you need a scan tool to connect to the car and the computer ? Thanks in advance

You can use a computer, but you need a pass through of some sort and it takes special software I’m not sure if it’s available to the public or not

You’ll probably have to call the guy who does automotive programming. Let him know what you’re doing first

Why did you purchase a new transmission from Nissan ,but not let them install it ? Assume Nissan Dealer will charge too to replace it, then you will try to do it by yourself or by a cheaper mechanic . Can you tell how much a new CVT transmission for this Altima model ,or where did you buy it directly from ?

Do you think we can remove/swap it from top at home ? as we don't have a host to lift whole car up . and it we can do from top , may not need to remove Sub-frame ?

Did you need to reprogram or reset the transmission? Im replacing a customer transmission and am on my second transmission now both time I tried using original and the modules that came with the used transmission and still not changing gears properly. Any help would be appreciated

Someone incorrectly installed just one small diameter hose onto the external oil cooler that's bolted to the CVT. One hose is not supposed to connect to both small ports on the cooler as you demonstrated during the CVT removal. One hose is supposed to go to the CVT fluid cooler inside the radiator and another hose to return from the radiator to the cooler. This might be the reason this CVT failed. If it came this way from the factory.........

Some of those transmissions just have a small hose, but if there’s hoses coming from the radiator, they definitely need to be connected to that cooler.

@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 Hey Dylan, I'm surprised and pleased that you responded after a month with no other comments. Do you recall if the radiator on that 2016 Altima had a CVT fluid cooler inside it? It should have had one when the car was brand new. Great video btw. I'm a DIY mechanic. The only thing stopping me from attempting a transaxle swap is a hoist and your tools LOL!

Can you tell how much a new CVT transmission for this Altima model ,or where can i buy it directly from ? how much to swap it ?

We buy them directly from Nissan. I’m guessing between 1200 and $1500 American.
