Even though America can't get enough SUV's, family sedans are still a very important segment for auto manufactures. Take a look at the latest Accord, Honda still consistently sells over 350,000 annually. This latest 2017 model has all the luxury and tech features to make Acura jealous, but is it still one of the best family cars on the market?

I drive a 2016 Accord V6 Touring and LOVE it. I have almost 22K miles on it and got it new on May 28th 2016 (I drive a lot for work). My fuel economy average is 27MPG and I do NOT drive gently. I really love the engine for its power and refinement. The 6-speed auto can be a little dimwitted sometimes but in most cases, the transmission is responsive enough. If I was driving 70MPH and punched it...it's quite amazing how quickly this car gains speed. 100MPH is only a few blinks away...serene blinks at that. The audio system is OK at best...and YES...the back deck rattles with the sub. I replaced the 4 6.5" speakers with aftermarket 3-way speakers and the sound really brightened up and the mid bass was definitely punchier. The system can play louder now and I was able to lower the subwoofer volume to help reduce the rattling but not reduce the overall bass output because of the new speakers' added punch. Also, the lack of a volume knob is annoying at first but you quickly become accustomed to the touch slider and steering wheel controls. Apple Car Play is FANTASTIC! I love being able to have full control over my phone without having to touch it...at all. There's a Siri button on the steering wheel and I'm able to make calls, compose/read messages, listen to Podcasts and iTunes music, Pandora or even Spotify. Since the Touring V6 comes with a Garmin navigation unit already, I usually default to that function but I can also use Apple Maps to "take me to nearest Starbucks". Sometimes the head unit can be a little glitchy...but nothing a car-restart can't fix. I think this car rides GREAT. The comments I always get from passengers is how smooth the car is and how it seems to flow down the road. The suspension does a great job of soaking up bumps and is well damped. The impacts can be slightly firm at times but that never translates into a harsh ride. The steering has a nice heft to it and points the car's nose exactly where you want it to go. The overall handling is surprising. I am able to take on and offramp must faster than you'd normally feel comfortable taking them. There's not much lean and I have yet to hear any tire squeal. I know this car will understeer but the threshold is certainly higher than the more plebeian Accord (non-Sport) offerings. The brakes are pretty strong but my rotors are already warped. I think that has to do with the collision mitigation system. More on that in a second. The brake pedal is progressive and there's a strong initial bite and then progressive pedal travel. The brakes are easy to modulate and you always know how much braking you're going to get. It's a nice peace of mind. The Honda Sensing technologies can be annoying at times. The active cruise control is so sensitive at times that it'll brake MUCH harder than it needs to to maintain a set distance (1, 2, 3 or 4 car lengths behind). The collision mitigation system is also sensitive in that if you're driving down a 2-lane road and are rounding a bend, a car coming the other direction can make the Accord stab the brakes even though each car was in its own lane and negotiating the turn properly. I think this is why my rotors are warped. The stabs can be pretty abrupt. The Lane Keep Assist can sometimes feel like you're being "ping ponged" between the lane makers but when you need to sneeze, blow your nose or take a bite of food, LKAS does lend a hand for a few seconds. I have to say that I LOVE the full LED lighting up front. The illumination is wide and bright. The automatic high beam function is great if a little fussy at times. The front turn signals are very crisp and bright and the compliments I've received had people fooled into thinking it was an Audi. The rear turn signals and brake lights are NOT LED though. The running lights back there ARE LED but not the others and I'm not sure why. But the overall nighttime look of this car (mine is black) is pretty menacing. The trunk is spacious and with a cargo net, even more functional. The overall cabin space is excellent and back seat passengers love the room back there too. The outboard passengers love the heated seats back there as well. The comfort level is high throughout the car and the quality of materials is very good. My only complaint has been the plastic panels behind the door pulls in the front door. They rattled when the car was new. The dealer swapped them out at no charge and the rattles have subsided. I think this car is a great car overall. It's fast when it needs to be, comfy and quiet at all times and economical to run and maintain. The cost of the car wasn't much of a concern for me because I was seeking value and not price. Price is what you pay and value is what you get. The Accord V6 Touring checked almost all of my boxes and the dealership experience was relaxed and professional so I have NO regrets with this car. I know the resale value will be there too...a benefit of owning a Honda product. My insurance (I'm over-insured) is very fair and maintenance costs are also reasonable. I'm confident that if you're considering purchasing this car...you won't be disappointed. Thank you!!

Shame. The current K24 engine is probably going to be the last great Honda N/A 4-banger, and probably the last great one in general. The only other company who can give engines souls like Honda is only going to be Mazda, unfortunately. I do hope the V6 sticks around - still a way better option than other turbo mid-size competitors that aren't as fast and still don't get the better MPG that they're supposed to

Great review as always. I just have to point out that when driven normal you'll see better MPG numbers on that V6. My Accord Coupe V6 Auto consistently averages 26-27 mpg overall. On road trips, it's not uncommon to see upper 30s. I have a slightly heavy foot but I don't redline it every time I take off from a stop either. It's a really impressive powertrain. I hope Honda keeps the V6 on the next generation.

Being able to drive both Camry and Accord, I am able to compare the two competing brands. There is not much of the difference between the two and it will just come down to your personal preference with exterior design, interior design, electronic features, and engine displacement. However, the big difference between them is the ride quality. I find the Camry has a very luxurious ride quality, which is soft and minimizes the bumps and imperfections on the road. While the Accord has the tires and probably the shock absorbers tuned for performance. So, it will transmit some of the bumpiness of the road but definitely has a sharper and more responsiveness when driving it. I love both cars but I find myself getting into the Camry more than the Accord when taking the family with me.

They will keep the kids down the street that are looking to swipe your wheels for a quick buck from targeting you car. As far as actual/professional thieves, wheel locks are only a deterrent. It'll make them think twice before targeting but if they really want your wheels, they can break the wheel locks and take them. Hell, if they really want your car that bad, the pros can tow the whole thing in under 60 seconds and you won't hear a squeak. Then they have all the time in the world to do whatever they want with your car. I have heard that installing a shock sensor helps a lot as it sounds the alarm immediately and any thief hates noise/attention. I've had the '16 sport for an year now, i live in a so-so neighborhood and I thank God every day no one has targeted mine. 👏

I recently got a 2016 honda accord but in the LX trim. Although it's basic compared to this one, I do like how I get 16" wheels wrapped in big cushiony 205/65r16 michelin tires. This wheel/tire setup provides a very comfortable drive, unlike the upper trim 19" inch wheels with a much smaller tire profile which provides a harsher ride. I'm also planning on upscaling some features like adding the touring headlights, katzkin black leather seats, the audio system, and some other emenities. Great cars overall.

I really don’t understand the hate behind the lack of a volume knob on Hondas. When I drive my wife’s 2018 HRV, I 100% only use the volume button on the steering wheel which is so more convenient and faster than reaching over. I would still only use it even if it had a knob. I feel some car reviewers forget about the wheel controls. For us who are 30+ years old, we began driving cars that had zero wheel buttons. Rarely do I see a reviewer ACTUALLY talk about how the wheel buttons perform. Instead, they spend 3 seconds on it and move on. That said, I’m happy they added it to the newer models. However, I bet vast majority of the time, people are using the wheel controls.

I absolutely love Lane Watch. It can be kept on with the push of a button (as opposed to needing to activate the turn signal) and can make hurried expressway driving a breeze.

Lane watch is the best thing since sliced bread. I will not buy another car that doesn't have it . The new Accord got rid of it, so may have to get a Ridgeline for my next vehicle as it does have Lane watch as well.

I have been driving my new V6 Touring Accord for 2 months so far. Damn car is fun to drive. Great power and handling. I love the fact that I can zip around the freeway and not worry about someone trying to cut me off, cuz I leave them in my dust. It turns heads in my neighborhood. The only thing I don't like about it is the sounds system it came with. Really sucks, so I have to invest some money in to that. But overall I love my purchase.

At this point Honda should just get rid of Acura, and pass over some of the technologies to hondas instead. I would love to see an accord with sh-awd, 8 speed dct, and slightly betree materials in the interior. Acura is just a shell of its former self and this is coming from someone who's own 2 Integras, a 2003 tls, and now currently own a 2012 tsx.

Todd Medium Wellington I couldn't agree more. They should also start a performance line. Same models, but with extra power, better suspension, etc. Basically like how the Civic has the Si and Type R. An Accord with SH AWD and 350+ hp would be amazing. I'd pay a lot of money for that

9th Gen accord sedan is so good looking, the pre-facelift 9th gen(2013-2015) is still better looking than the 2016-2017 9th gen facelift/refresh. The 9th gen facelift is too much chrome in the front, but it's still far better looking (Exterior-wise) than the 10th gen accord. I knew trying to succeed the exterior looks of the 9th gen accord with the 10th gen was going to be impossible lol. The interior of the 10th gen accord is nice, I just can't stand the outside. Lol Great review!
