First I have to say that YOU look fantastic! So much more relaxed too. My New Year's Resolution, which I rarely make, is to declutter our home, room by room. I'm 3/4 of the way done with the first room and it has been a chore but at the same time cleansing. (I have some physical issues so it'll be slow going.) Our children are now grown and on their own, so I'm sorting treasures they've left behind and putting them in tubs for them to go through when they visit next (they're spread out from Boston to Charlotte so don't all end up here very often). I suspect that the last room I tackle will be my craft room because it'll be a bit more overwhelming because of the amount of "stuff" that has accumulated over the years. Your video is absolutely inspiring and after I purge so much of my crafting "things" I'll be hitting up IKEA to reorganize my personal crafting space to make things more accessible. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome room (LOVE your adjustable desk....I was left permanently disabled after an accident 6 years ago and that desk would be PERFECT for my needs!). Have a fabulous weekend and thanks again for sharing. ~HUGS~ #kindnessmatters

I love your area!!:) I've always coordinated by color, also. I taught Math for 37 years. My aide told everyone how my filing cabinets were organized, and by glancing at my gradebook it was so easy to quickly tell who was making A, B, etc. , who had missing work, etc. It looks so homey, honey, and I hope you have years of wonderful times & create memories. I agree. Showcase a few things that make you feel good! I enjoyed watching this. You made me smile, Nancy

Regarding those heavy punches...if you have some wall space, you can get some towel bars (I hear IKEA has some nice ones) and those punches with handles will hang on the bars and rest against the wall. Even if you can just do a few of the big, heavy ones, that will save your drawers. You've done an amazing job of organizing a wide variety of crafting supplies. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing it with us.
@SmartFunDIY

Hi, I have seen the bars (and I have those bars from IKEA) but I don't want them on the wall. I rarely use them so the falling drawer bottom is just a symptom of the problem of keeping something I don't use. Thanks for the compliments!

Thanks for sharing your craft room and all your great ideas on staying productive while still being creative! It’s all a journey on learning our own personal process of inspiration and getting things made. I too love to put like minded things and colors together. I just had a hysterectomy done and I’m not suppose to lift things but my craft room is very small and I need to redo it. I make knit, make cards, sew, and use to scrapbook, and cross stitch so I have all the the different supplies for everything but need to make sense of what I use. Really loved your video!!!

Beautiful space. Love the way u put everything n rainbow I do that also. Only thing that stood out 2 me was stamp pads......u may want 2 store them upside down. I sold stampin up & that is what we were taught it keeps the ink on the pads longer. Just a lil tip.
@SmartFunDIY
@SmartFunDIY 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Actually, Colorbox inkpads DO NOT need to store upside down. they are made of foam, not felt like Stampin' Up!. When you press the foam pad, the ink comes to the surface. I worked as their social media manager and influencer program manager for 7 years ;)

I do have a craft room that I'm currently downsizing its contents. My goal is to pass along materials that I'm not using to others who will be thrilled to find a bargain at the thrift store. I get inspiration from rooms such as yours.

Wow! What an amazing space! I'm new to your channel, so I don't know if all of this space is part of your family business, but you must have a very understanding family to have 2 front rooms. How freeing! I love that you're genuine and up front about your space and how you've evolved and were able to purge sooo much. I need to do that!! Please tell me what clear container holds your Copics. Thank you!

Girl meets World1517 I painted and did most of it in January + February 2017. Then over the rest of the year I changed to the Ikea desk, added the second desk near the entry. So I finished around Christmas 2017. As far purging, I started in Fall 2013 and finished October 2017!

Hi! I just watched your video. I'm organizing my craft space and I was wondering about your 2 Hobby Lobby library drawer units. Do you know if they still sell them? Do you have a link? Or know where I can find them, they would be perfect for my space. Thanks for the inspiration!

They usually get 1-2 in store every summer. I've seen them there year after year. Keep asking your store about them. I eventually sold mine on Facebook Marketplace - you can check there too.

Omg! My adhd is so overwhelmed right now but in a good way. I’d love to just come and spend an hour or so just looking at everything! I don’t craft and I never have. At 45 I’ve finally gotten the point that I can sit still and contain my energy. Lol. I’m thinking of getting a cricut and trying crafting. I’m completely scared I’ll spend a bunch of money get overwhelmed then not use it. But I love organizational stuff and just looking at craft rooms makes me happy. I won’t have space for a room but I have a wall and an area in my bedroom I can setup for now. I’m curious how long it’s taken you to amass this collection? There is no telling how much money you have in everything. But I understand you make your living doing this. I’d love to make money crafting! I need to know which ikea you go to! We don’t have one but I recently discovered there is an ikea in Memphis, TN which is about an hour and a half from me. I’ve been 3 times and love it! Unfortunately, they seem to be out of stock of way too many items! And I looked in their as is and it was pitiful! Not much to pick from. Mostly junk. If I could find items like you do I’d be tickled to death! I’m looking forward to watching your videos. Also, I’m amazed at what all you know how to do! Maybe one day I can learn to sew as well. But right now I’m homeschooling my youngest daughter and I didn’t do this with my other 4 kids. Plus she’s in 7th grade so it’s a challenge for me for sure! But I have hopes that one day I’ll be able to.

Hi! Welcome to crafts! 1. You DON'T need all of this. In fact I got rid of most of this stuff. Pick ONE craft to make and see if you like. 2. Start small. I wouldn't get a Cricut right away but if you're dead set on that, I'd recommend Cricut Joy. I just shared about it here: www.smartfundiy.com/organize-diy-labels-circut-joy/ and link to more posts from there. It's small and affordable. 3. You don't need Ikea. start with what you have and then figure out what storage you need 😊 Hope that helps!

I've been collecting stuff since I was a kid. It took me about 25 years to get this much stuff. It was overkill and I'm purging 99% of it now. My #1 advice: ONLY BUY what you'll use TODAY. The craft store, Amazon etc will be there later. You can always get more. I wrote a lot about this on my site. Start here:
