Reason I bought my ridge is I needed many things a truck can do but I’m not a truck guy. I tow a 3000 lb trailer and the bed is always full. It’s perfect for what I do and it drives like my wife’s Camry. Plus it’s the most American made truck you can buy. Ram is made in Mexico, Silverado is mexico, USA and Canada. Honda is over 80 % American components and built in Alabama. Yea, net profit goes to Japan but 35000 Honda employees are in USA including all the factory workers.

I can’t tell you how many trucks I see every day not being used as trucks, meanwhile these things will get it all done but people don’t want to drive it because it’s a “women’s truck” the only thing it can’t do is tow a great deal, everything else is no problem.

This video just sold me on this truck. It can do a ton of other stuff in the other videos I've watched and it can churn up some mud on a trail, something I'll probably never do...but if I have to it can handle a bit of back country, not obviously a swamping truck but a logging road or a camping area with some holes and stuff. Cool

Has everything I would need. I tow my Miata on a light open wheel trailer (about 3000lbs), like to have the weather assurance and capability if needed for light trail duty, and use my current Tacoma as a daily. Hopefully Honda continues with this philosophy for another generation or two so that when I'm able to comfortably afford something like this, it'll still be available.

I’m a 68 year old woman. I have a 2010. Ridgeline I bought used. In perfect condition. It has the old body style. Which I love. The original owner put all the bells and whistles on it. Side bar railings, sun roof, heated seats, luggage rack, weather tec accessories, and a killer stereo system. Fit for any tailgate party. The color is mocha with metal flake paint. It drives like a dream. Only issue is peripheral vision. Blind spots. Took the head rest off of the back seats and it took care of that however the height of the 🚘 car makes it difficult to see smaller cars when you back up. I would love new one but they cost so much. And this one should last for years with all the proper maintenance. Oh, and everyone tells me it’s a car, not a truck.

Had a 2018, now have a 2020 I love it so much. Dirt roads, dirt roads in the rain, muddy inclines, and a snow storm in 6-10" of fresh snow is nothing in a stock Ridgeline. Got stuck on a patch of ice on a slight incline because I had to stop to wait for another vehicle to get pulled out and got stuck. Haven't tried sand but flawless in LA traffic and severe rain on the freeways at speed.

I'm continually surprised at how capable my 2006 is off road - yes, there are some limits due to the stiff swaybars (you can easily end up on 3 wheels in really lumpy stuff) and a couple more inches of ground clearance would be nice (but since I do 95% of my driving on the road, I'm not lifting it) - but to have a truck that will do what it does off road, and yet drive like a quick, competent car on the road is great. And since I don't put more than 1200 lbs in the bed of my Ridgeline (but I do it fairly often hauling machinery all over Florida) or tow more than around 4500, it's great. And the ride is sublime.

There is nothing in it's class to compare it to? Name another uni body truck sold in America? this is a good truck per say for people that don't really use their truck as a truck and more of a car, but if your towing and using a truck as a TRUCK i would pass on this truck. But for most this will do what most people need from a "truck".

All commenters butt hurt over saying this tows more than a Colorado. If you are thinking of towing 7000lbs with a Colorado or a Tacoma you seriously should be getting your head examined. My Tacoma doesn't have enough power to tow my 3000lb boat. I would never tow more than 5000lbs with it. I'd never get out of first gear. The big thing this truck has that NONE of the others in this class has, is a bed capable of hauling a sheet of plywood.

Plus tow my 4,000 lbs travel trailer with my Sportster in the bed! That’s just over 10,000 CGVW in a Cat Scale! On a 4,000 mile trip a year or so ago.

I have the first Gen 2007 RTS and it has 189k miles on it. But it’s been a dream to drive and is not afraid to get down and dirty. I’ve pulled trailers with it, pulled other trucks out of ditches in the snow, let it loose down a few twisty backroads and took it on a 6 hour road trip. It has never failed me. I put all terrain tires on it and aftermarket 18” wheels and an aftermarket APPLE CarPlay radio and speakers. Changed the headlight housings to black ones and converted all the lights including the buttons to LED. I’ll eventually replace it with a newer one but not brand new. But till then, I’ll keep it and drive it till it falls apart completely which will take a long time. Haha.

Most of the comments here are about the styling of the truck or weather or not it's even a "real truck". Everyone is entitled to their opinion when it comes to looks. Personally, I don't like blonds, but a lot of men date and marry blonds. I think they look fake and bimbo-ish, learning at a young age that looks are everything, and trying to skirt through the rest of their life on their looks. That is why my long time girlfriend is a brunette. My preference. I personally don't like the looks of the Chevy twins or the outdated Nissan. I like the fact that the Ridgeline has a sloped front end. It allows me to see more of what is in front of the vehicle. Yes, this "truck" is a uni-body construction and has 7.9" of clearance, the lowest in its class. The Chevy Colorado has 1/2" more, Tacoma only has 1-1/2" more than the Ridge. Think about that, 1-1/2" is a small stone. I laugh at guys that jack their trucks up with body lifts to give it that "manly truck" look, only to see that their rear diff is still at 9.4" off the pavement. I laugh even harder at the posers who do this on their trucks that have the badging that says, "Pre-Runner". This is coming from a guy who has had 4 Toyota trucks, back to back, purchased brand new, since 1982, and when it came time to replace my 2000 Tundra, went to purchase a very capable 2018 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Off-Road model. After test driving it and the Ridgeline, it was a no brainer for me on which to get. Back to preference... This may or may not be the truck for you, but for the people who do decide to buy it, it fills their needs. Quite well in fact. I love my 2018 RTL-E. Quiet, smooth ride, great handling, great acceleration, great breaking (4 wheel disk), ton of safety features, average 22.3 mpg (low of 19.2 pulling trailer up the incline to Lake Tahoe and a high of 33.3 mpg going back down hill). Handles great in mixed driving and handles trails with multi mode Torque Vectoring AWD like a pro rally car, and for 99.9% of my driving, the Auto Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist practically drives itself. It's hard to get into my girlfriend's Mercedes and have to think about driving a car. So, to all that are here leaving comments on the looks of this truck, post a pic of your girlfriend or wife so that we can comment on her. I'm sure she has a nice personality though.

DigitalMan269 well said! I think Honda has (for the most part) done a fantastic job. Most people just are not used to an auto maker actual “filling “ a NEED rather than marketing to try to make people believe what they need. And yes, I am speaking to all those maxed out 1/2 ton “off-road” version 4x4 trucks that drive back and forth to work every day (on pavement). The only thing I think Honda could do differently would be to make it “look” more like the so called real trucks. A little higher hood line, slightly bigger tires, done. Then even the pretenders would love it. My two pennies.

I have no doubt that this is the missing pickup in Brazil. FIAT (through JEEP) has launched a super pickup - the Toro - which is now widely accepted here. I even studied Toro for a year and decided to buy. But after two years of use, I decided to sell. Not because I find the car bad. But for abominating the way FIAT does its after-sales service. Today I have a Honda WR-V and it's a great car. But my need and passion is the pickup. If it's Diesel ... then that's what I love. Honda has everything to bring the Ridegeline to Brazil. It is what it is . It is not a rough and tumble trail truck. It is not made for towing real heavy loads but if you need to tow something that's you know, you want to tow your snowmobiles or or Modest size boat and you want to be able to carry a decent load in the back of the truck for some projects This is great. The super handling all Wheel drive system is unique and it is wonderful. The thing handles good and it is comfortable. Sure maybe it's not a truck per say but it's a truck like very handy very versatile vehicle. And guys I'm sorry to say I have friends that have beautiful brand new Ford And Chevy and GMC vehicles and they are already having problems with the newer transmissions and some of the engines you're not gonna have that with the Honda. It's probably not for you if you need one of those other vehicles but guess what you're probably gonna have 0 problems with it.

When I was a teenager my best friend had a truck that sat lower to the ground . It was called an El Camino. But it was referred to by the dealer as a truck. This reminds me of it, but it's superior to today's midsize truck market in everyway. I say put a 2 inch lift and leveling kit on this and it's unstoppable. Add fox shocks and Toyota fan boys will come running.

Ok I have your 2012 model. The trunk in it is so so so much better than your 2017 model. On your next model please please please bring back the larger trunk and larger spare tire space. Then I would greatly appreciate it if you would make so that it's towing capacity is at least 7000 lbs. Other than that you have created an awesome vehicle! If you make those 3 changes on your next model I promise that I will make that Honda ridgeline my next vehicle!

I am curious if this year of ridgeline can downshift for braking control coming down a long hill or mountain pass? ie. i see Drive (with overdrive lockout) and Low. Is there an ability to shift into 3rd or 2nd gear?

The torque vectoring system sounds great. You didn't mention the gearing for the transmission. Since this is designed for light trail work, a 2 speed transfer case is unnecessary in my mind. However, a granny first gear that you can select when needed would be a great option if you need to crawl up a rough section of road and be cheaper than a 2 speed transfer case.

Take my wife.....PLEASE! In the 30 years we’ve been together, she’s had more cars/vans/SUV’s than anybody ought to and she’s in love with a 2019 Pilot- says it’s the best thing she’s ever had, me included and i have to admit, it’s amazing. So, I decided to start looking at mid size trucks and after looking, driving, researching and a few beers, it hit me, get the Ridgeline fool!

I owned the former version of the Ridgeline. It was a good vehicle, but I wouldn't do any serious off roading with it. Still, I miss it from time to time. It was very comfortable as a daily driver and met my needs. The gas mileage, though, is no better than a Silverado. 16 mpg in town.

i just got a 19 awd, put it through a huge nasty very steep off camber hill that my LR4 handles like nothing, this video doesnt do the ridgeline justice. great little truck. from a former f350 diesel and long time chevy 4wd owner, yeah its not mean and macho but at 23 mpg on the highway, and nice ride, no remorse. the factory radios suck, remedied that, and thats it! enjoy

How is it in soft sand? That's one test I haven't t seen. I use my '06 Pilot at the beach and she works fine, but the tools that rip down the beach, faster than they should, and others with wide tires cause some deep ruts to be dug out causing me to sometimes bottom out.

I like the concept/selling points of having features like a truck but with a ride of a car..so that's impressive. But I'm taken back a little bit by the interior being a bit on the plastic / plain side. Not much wow factor inside at all. Over all I'd consider one when my 16 year old Tundra finally needs replacing.

I will be buying a Passport or Ridgeline next year. I didn't like the Honda-Rep saying go thru the mud fast as you can. That was so you don't get stuck in the mud. A good test would be to stop in the mud and see if you can get out.

Jordan Graf It has road tires because it’s a road vehicle. I got nothing against ridgeline, but it doesn’t belong out there. I don’t know why they keep pretending it’s something that it’s not. If you’re even watching this vid...thinking you might be pushing your truck through obstacles off road...the ridgeline isn’t for you.

Ridge line is an interesting vehicle. It’s a great city truck for someone who is only worried about dirt roads or snow, and wants something comfortable with a bed. But if you’re going to actually off-road the thing this vehicle shouldn’t be on your shopping list, it wasn’t made for it. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad vehicle, but why does it keep trying to be something it’s not?

Correction that more load capability than a ZR2 Colorado NOT a Z71, LT, Base or W/T Colorado Ext Cab, of which is not available in the Ridgeline! The gas powered Colorado Ext Cab 4x4, 4 cyl or V6 other than ZR2 can carry up to 1,552 lbs and the V6 can tow up to 7,000lbs. The diesel can tow 7,500 lbs! Not to mention go off road better than any Ridgeline will ever, especially the ZR2!

The extended cab is a two door, not in the same class. Same reason you don't compare a single cab half ton with a crew cab, the former will always beat the latter.

CommieCat but still not needed to have more capacity or room. The Crew Cab Colorado in any trim level besides ZR2, like Base, W/T, LT or Z71, in rear or 4x4AWD all have an available longer bed with more weight and towing capacity, with a real body on frame truck that will absolutely take more abuse and overloading, than Honda’s fwd minivan based tuv.

You could have built the ridgeline a little more traditionally like the bed rails for instance. Instead of building them so all most literally nothing can clamp to them. You could build the ridge line with certain other traditional truck type things and you would still have something that is its own thing and not like the other trucks out there.

My neighbor has a 07 Honda Ridgeline with 750,000 miles. I’ve an 06 Ridgeline with 119,000. This is a great truck for the average guy that doesn’t need a big truck but needs to move some furniture or Home Depot goods. Very easy to change oil and filter yourself.

I'd be a buyer if it towed more and had at least another inch of ground clearance. Perhaps the air suspension like the RAM to lift it. My 4000# trailer would push it to it's max when loaded, and hill climbing that way would be SLOW.

I love 06 ridgeline. I do think these newer ones could use a restyling. I think its good but need something original. It does everything I need it to though so I'm not hating. Perfect for the weekend trips to the lake and throwing dead deer in the bed.

Honda could have made the Ridgeline a bit better offroad and made stake pockets in the bed sides instead of the music though the Music playing thing is cool and they still could have had the most unique truck on the market.

I don't have a problem with unibody. I don't have a problem with fully independant suspension. My problem is with the drivetrain. As someone who works on their own vehicles, I HATE transverse mounted V6s. The rear cylinder bank is just such a pain to access. Also, I'm not a fan of the overly complicated awd systems. I think gm has had it right since the early 2000s. 2wd, 4auto, 4lock, 4low. That's all you need. The rest comes from driver skill and experience.

Look up the vid where it was tested against a Taco and a Colorado and came out on top in the 20 mile washboard road. The other 2 lost their suspensions and the Ridge came through just fine. Not one vehicle is without problems on an anecdotal level.
