Justin, this has to be a ram thing ive been Ram loyal since my parents gifted me a 97 ram with the old torquey 360 V8.... but yes those fucking pedals man! Even the Durango we have is like that, definitely need to have more folks voice that out. Still Ram loyal but definitely think that minor changes would be amazing to perfect the truck.

I've never had a problem with the gas or brake peddle & I have a size 11 & a half shoe, but now that you've mentioned it, I will take a closer look at that dynamic. I do agree on the thin windshield as I am careful to drive far behind the vehicles in front of me but I still get the occasional stray piece of gravel hurling like a comet into my windshield. No cracks yet but about 5 or 6 tiny chips here & there, I certainly don't desire to spend over $1500 for a genuine Mopar replacement. I am planning to have Expel clear bra material installed over my factory White front bumper, front plastic pieces under the headlights & the headlights themselves to protect the paint & front end if possible. I wasn't aware of the rear sliding window having potential leaks, but then I never open it. I honestly can't think of any negative thing on my White Limited Night Edition Ram with Hemi E-Torque. I'm always intrigued & encouraged with each & every video you make about your truck & the experience of owning it! I will say this though, my 2021 Ram makes vehicle number 92, all makes & models & my 2008 Hemi Ram I had for 13 long years as my primary work vehicle & it never once broke down on me, just tires, brakes & batteries over those 13 years of ownership, making it the most reliable vehicle out of 92, so I gladly spent the big bucks for the new model without hesitation. All the Fords, GM's & other brands all let me down but not my trusty Dodge Ram.

I have a 2019 BigHorn - LoneStar sport has 45,000 miles on it I did noticed the gas pedal from coming from a Ford I thought the room for it was small I got used to it after a couple of weeks . I only have one rock chip in the front bumper it’s all black same paint like in the video obviously the different LED lights because it’s not a limited . I’m pretty impressed with the paint looks new still I also do wax it twice a year and wash it regularly so as the chips and scratches I would say depends on owner to owner how the maintain their truck and where they live and drive . Had to replace nothing on the truck yet zero issues with the tail gate also the recalled service was performed on it too my rear window doesn’t leak at all with the truck sitting either way up or down no problems also I still have the factory windshield it’s perfect no issues at all .

Both videos were great!!! I purchased a used Laramie last year far extremely happy. Because I have had such good fortune with Ram trucks since 1994 I took the chance on one with some mileage on it. As long as I'm not pulling our camper I'm extremely impressed with the fuel miliage on the highway. Around town it is better than the Rubicon I had. I would recommend the optional 394 gears. They are great when pulling a trailer. Cracked manifolds, yes. No rear window leaks yet.

Good honest review. I don’t have near the miles as you on my ‘19 Rebel, but it’s been a fantastic truck so far. Couldn’t agree more on the fueling - sometimes it’s good, other times it’s a PITA. Never had an issue with the pedal ergonomics, but I’m only a size 10 so maybe I’m in the same size shoe as whoever designed it!

Definitely a great long term review! I was thinking of trading my Ram 1500 Classic Tradesman for the 5th gen. Yeah it’s not as refined as the 5th gen but watching this series, there’s just less to go wrong it. Plus it still uses a regular gas cap, and the tailgate is steel so it doesn’t need persuasion to close like an aluminum tailgate.

Good hearing from you again! I haven’t had any issue with my throttle pedal on my 2020. It’s never even been a thought so obviously nothing I’ve noticed. But I have heard you complain about that before. Maybe it was changed a little in 2020? No idea. I haven’t yet had the leaky rear window but I’ve heard of it. Guess I’ve been lucky. I don’t have the Ram boxes so I can’t comment on those. But as for the rock or sand chips in the paint on front and hood, I’ve known people that have other trucks and heard the same thing but it’s always been due to them following too close behind the vehicle in front of them. I stay aware of that and keep more distance. For a 200,000 mile truck overall it seems to have done pretty well. I don’t think it would be any different if it were a Ford or GM as far as the paint pits. Another good video on your thoughts. Hope to hear more!

2020 Bighorn here. I dont baby my truck, and mechanically its been solid, the one real issue Im seeing is the paint. Its easy to damage and I will be taking truck in for paint correction under the headlights and in the spray pattern off the front fenders. Also did the box with Line-X pro level protection. Suffered hail damage first 2 weeks of ownership that surprisingly didnt break the windshield but left 13 noticeable dents. Insurance covered that for me.

Tip for fueling is to rotate the nozzle clockwise slightly (pointing towards 1 or 2 o’clock instead of straight up and down). Not sure if it’ll stay without being held, but this has solved that for me. Great video as always Justin

I didn't have the recall done on my 2020 Limited, but I did have it stick and also not want to close. For mine the solution was to go to the hardware store and get an 1/8" nylon washer big enough to slip over the passenger side hinge for the tailgate. Have not had the issue again. But I agree with your list! The grill and bumper are chipped and look terrible. My rear window was replaced due to leaking (frame cracks). You can't avoid that one, and it isn't plastic... it's actually the metal of the window frame.

I love my 2019 Big Horn. I've got the 5.7 4x4 with the 3.21 gears. I get 24 mpg on the highway with good tires. I put on stock size BFG KO2s and lost 4 miles per gallon. This was to be expected but adds to that $$$$ you mentioned. I've had the tailgate issue but like you said... Easy fix with a bit of lubricant. My only real complaint is the seat cushion. I drove a 2019 Tahoe 8 hours a day for work and found the Tahoe to be extremely comfortable. Never a sore spot. The Ram seat beats me up on long trips. So much that I might stray to GM in the future.

I heard about the paint chipping and being weak, so I got PPF applied to my '22 Longhorn. The shop applied it to the front panels, front pillars, front roof, door edges, handles, and top of the tailgate. I then got a 5 year ceramic coat. So far so good! For me the worst part has been the 8.4" display console. Unconnect is so buggy! At startup occasionally the whole thing will reboot. Very annoying. Overall though its been a great truck and for owning a year I love it. Would certainly buy again.

Like you it's difficult to find things that I "hate" about my Ram that's 1 year old now. My feets be 9 1/2, and the pedal is OK for me. I covered the front of mine with XPel PPF in hopes to cut down on the rock chips (so far, so good). Luckily (knock wood) the windshield has been OK, and I don't have the Ram Boxes. The the one most aggravating thing about mine, that I don't think I'll ever get used too, is that dang rotary shift dial. There have been times when backing, and then shifting into drive without looking I turn the dad burn radio dial. LOL

Not sure if you’ll read this, but we had the same issue on a jeep grand Cherokee and fueling. It turned out that when you overfill, meaning continue to put gas after it clicks off naturally, the fuel will fill up the fill tube and go down the evap tube into the charcoal canister causing it to get clogged eventually. So when you are fueling it’s not able to exchange fuel and air at the same rate, causing it to think the gas tank is full and clicking off the fuel pump. We had to swap out the charcoal canister for a new one and it fixed the problem.

I'm looking at a 2019 bighorn, and it seems that the ram trucks are about the most reliable trucks out there now, which is really leading my decision. My next vehicle will be the one I keep as long as possible, so I am looking for it to be pretty bulletproof (with maintenance of course).

I had an F-150 STX yrs ago and Chevy Colorado with painted bumpers. They all had nasty road rash. My brand new Chevys bumper was messed up before I even bought it. I didn't notice it till a month or so later. It was in the winter. My theory was a snow truck at some point sprayed the bumper with salt and it chipped it away. My point is this isn't just a Ram thing. I intentially got a Ram with Chrome bumpers to avoid this. I put some aftermarket stainless steel chrome finish nerf bars on the truck and it gives it a classic looking overall appearance. I love it.

the only way to stop scratching and chipping on that would be to get clear vinyl wrap, 3m make a special product that's made for paint and panel protection. you still could get it put on but and it would stop it from getting worse in those high contact areas you mentioned, you can do just patches or you can get the whole vehicle done , of course it would have been better to of gotten something like this applied when new but for those places that you said it would give you a layer of protection to stop it getting worse.

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie. I did notice that the pedal seems a bit close to the trans tunnel. It's not very bad for me because I always take my shoes off regardless of what I drive. I'm tall and this helps me get more leg room and also helps me get a better feel of the pedal. Also by not having a boot or shoe on I don't have to worry about the width. My daily is a Kia Sportage so no boots or shoes is a must. I also have a manual 5th gen Camaro and it would feel absolutely akward with shoes on. The truck I use mainly for towing my camper so isn't driven daily. I know most people drive with their shoes on. I have long legs and big feet so it just isn't for me. No shoes equal comfortable ride whatever I'm driving. A couple negatives is having to take shoes on and off. If it snows or rains possibly getting your socks wet. Also I wouldn't want to get in an accident. It's worth being comfortable in my opinion though.

It’s not the filter location, it’s the steering rack. Remember, this engine has been put in Ram trucks since 2003 but the location issue is with the 5th generation which came out 15 years later. I use an aluminum baking sheet which I bend to fit between the filter and the rack and let it run down into my catch pan. I have never had a single drop of oil go onto my rack.

Hahahaha I have been driving ram trucks since 2009. I would never have bought a Dodge except for this guy that was going on a mission trip and just wanted the pay out. When I got the truck I didn’t realize that it was going to be a top-of-the-line ram with ram boxes. I kept the truck until 2014 when it had 120,000 miles on it and I traded it for a new top-of-the-line ram with red boxes. Both trucks had the air suspension and I drove a top-of-the-line Ford and Chevrolet and GMC not even close. I still have a 2014 and of course I’ve had to do maintenance, a water pump, a suspension bag, and a thermostat. It is unbelievable to me that someone could find real fault with the truck. I’ll pull an 18 foot trailer loaded down at 80 miles an hour all the time and she doesn’t miss a beat. Hell, even with the trailer I can pull out and pass people when I get ready. Aggressive driver, I guess. I keep hearing how bad Ram reliability is but the only thing I’m waiting for, is them to drop the price this winter. It is the best looking truck, the best driving truck, and the ram boxes are a dealbreaker for me now. I have no idea what this guy’s going on about the gas pedal. Does he have a cruise control ?Not trying to be a hater just found it funny. I have owned Fords, Chevrolet‘s and now Rams and I can promise you I will never go back because of the quality of the interior in the Ram and the fact that I can pull anything anywhere I want to go. Crack in the windshield. If you throw rocks at your windshield anything is going to eventually crack lol. I’m 6 foot tall 200 pounds and drive a lot of miles. If you don’t want rocks to break your windshield probably should get in the other lane away from the rocks. Hate to put you on blast but I just found this hilarious. Buy a TwinTurbo Ford or a Chevrolet and see what you have to say after 200,000 miles.

Questions coming from the Tacoma side of things, are the 5th gen Rams reliable? I haven’t had an issue in the Tacoma yet luckily. I’ve been pretty weary about the Ram brand just from things I’ve read about, but then I see the other half of people saying they are the best truck they’ve owned with no issues. I have the wireless CarPlay in my 22 limited and I never use it. If listening to music (which is what I connect my phone for), the sound quality is noticeably worse with wireless CarPlay. I just connect my phone through Bluetooth and have CarPlay turned off. This brings me to one of my wishes, I wish with such a “nice” sound system that they gave the user more control with tuning, The 3 band eq just doesn’t cut it for me. It would be nice to be able to control the subwoofer volume and bass level separately too.

I have not thought the gas pedal is to close to the fire wall but it is to close to the brake pedal for me. I have on numerous times when to take my foot off the gas and my shoe catches on the side if the brake pedal. could be an extra second if it happens when I need to make an emergency stop.

I think there was a lawsuit that ended up getting dropped in regards to the fueling issue. I think the problem lies with the tank and wasn’t resolved until 2022. Great video !

Yeah I wonder if they ever fixed that. I heard some people got it after like 30k miles. 2022 trucks are still very new ... But that sounds awful. Like these things eat like a bear and imagine not being able to refuel the thing. Of course some people say turn the nozzle left and right. BS! FCA products r garbage.

My ram 2020 after 6 months rear window leaked . The frame was cracked. Had the whole thing replaced. I was told by the dealership the company who. made them had a bad batch of frames. After having my ram for a year less than 20,00 miles battery and idler tensioner had to be replaced. Hopefully I don't have to do anything else for a long time .

My 2019 only has 15,600 miles on it, and I just had to have the rear window replaced because of leaking. RAM covered the cost for me. I work from home, so I don't put many miles on it. One thing I will say is I drove it like a TRX on some mountain dirt roads earlier this year, and the rear view camera stopped working. I had to reconnect it. Guess I should buy a TRX, but my wife isn't having any of that.

I bought a used 2019 Laramie and within a month of ownership I found the rear window leaking.. Truck started smelling musty. I was using my sons diapers to soak up the water dripping on the seats.i replaced the 3rd brake light housing and seal and tried silicone to to at least give me time to get the window replaced. Nothing worked. It took the glass shop 2 months to get the OEM replacement after getting a cheap chinese replacement sent to them the first time. Cost me 1200 to replace the window with OEM replacement. Never owned a RAM and never wanted to till I seen these 5th Gens. Love my Ram.

I had a 2018 ram 1500 changed it around 50k and I now have a 2020 ram 1500 and I will prob change it around 50k. The only reason I did even though ram states a lifetime fluid is ZF the manufacture of the transmission recommends changing it every 50k miles and don't quote me but I think 30k if you are doing a lot of towing. But also you may never have issues if you never change it. Just depends what you feel comfortable with.
@hulbert87
@hulbert87 Жыл бұрын
I keep going back and forth. It’s much more costlier than most trans fluid changes because of the one time use pan. No definitive answers on the forums. Zf states 60k I believe. Ram says unlimited lol. No one’s has done a fluid analysis but one guy on 5th gen forums and they state no point until the 100k mark. I got headers to replace first ha
@calebherring5182
@calebherring5182 Жыл бұрын
I will say it was a pain in the ass to change it if you have a hemi cause the exhaust pipe goes over the pan right where the drain plug is so basically it’s super hard to drain from the drain plug so I just unscrewed the the thing and let all the fluid come out of one side and try not to make a huge mess but I did anyways. I think the eco diesels don’t have the exhaust across the pan so it’s easier

If your complaining about the cost of this truck then you shouldn’t have it. My trucks sticker price was a little over $76000, after incentives/discounts negotiation, and taxes + fee’s it was $68,000. I had a 2019 1500 Laramie with 43,000 miles on it as a trade in and got $9,000 for it after the payoff. I put $2,000 down, and it was 4% APR (in case your wondering how I got such a low interest rate. My credit score was at 764 at the time, probably a few points higher now) for 5 years, first 2 payments were waved though. I pay $669 a month for my truck.

You sound extremely tired. If you don't like the gas pedal location try driving a Nissan frontier. The break and gas are so close it's easy to use the wrong one if you wear size 14 shoes. Of course I seldom drive but one morning did have trouble hitting the gas pedal and ended up trumping it which sent the rear tires to spinning and screeching. Ha

You have a black truck. Any black vehicle is a nightmare to keep clean and scratch free. Black will show the smallest chip, crack, ding, scratch, rub mark, you name it! Black on ANY vehicle looks fantastic when shiny and clean. I own a 2022 Black Ram Rebel, same issue, same problem. It's mostly the color that will show the imperfections, not the paint alone. A lighter color, not so much. I was a body and paint man for many years. Black is beautiful and classy, but a BIG pain in the ass to maintain.
