True to some extent. As an original 2004 STi owner, I hate to see where they are taking that badge. Hell, I bought mine without a radio. It was FASTER than any other model year STi ever built in the US. Give me a car that is meant to race and do without the creature comforts.

Nobody would complain if the EJ had a closed deck iron block, forged internals, strong crank......problem is the EJ is made out of Swiss cheese and will blow. If they made it like the 2jz then yes no one would care if it stayed the same but the reality is it's the same shitty EJ motor since 2004.

I though the same went from a 2016 to a 2019 and thought the same. There’s something different with the tuning and the way it drives. The clutch is smoother also.

Not sure if it will clear the calipers. Just curious, any reason you want to go from the stock 19's to 16;s or 15's? Winter set up? Also a follow up since picking up the 2019. If you look on Subaru's website in the spec column they have the STI rated at 14.7 psi. I currently register 18.2 psi and that's stock no maps or bolt on's installed. I think Subaru is holding back on real numbers and leaving it up to owners to put it on a dyno and find out their individual car.

Agreed, clutch is lighter also which helps with that smooth engagement.

mfmf100 hopefully the 2020 has a new engine, wouldn’t mind if they used the WRX engine or made one just for the STI.

Going to be just like the J spec. The awesome marriage of the twin scroll turbo FA with the benefits of the DCCD and beefier transmission along with the Brembos.. Just like all us WRX owners have been wishing for. . Now more displacement netting like 350 horsepower will be key. Bring it Subaru!

Matteo_ FG4_si , it surprisingly sounds better than the stock exhaust on the 2015 STI. It would be bad ass with a Corsa set up.

I dont think it has unequal length headers, yes its less performance but it dosent have that subie rumble

While it does have UEL headers, the stock exhaust is pretty quiet.

It probably is because of the stock catalytic converter to reduce the sound to be compliant with international regulations.

ricardopr54 don’t get me wrong I’m from Japan and I love Subaru and WRC scene. Love makes Subaru Subaru you know 😉. You might be right Subies got less issues than American muscle. I used to have a ‘01 Impreza 2.5 RS coupe, bought it used. I changed 3 sensors and I forgot some kind of a coil? It was little quicker than Honda Civic because no turbo or anything but quick enough and very fun car!

Probably not in 2020 IMHO...the S209 (which still uses the VA chassis and a [slightly beefed up] EJ257) has been announced as a 2020 model. Additionally, Subaru has not been extremely active showing off future WRX prototypes, which I would expect to see for a 2020 launch to generate media buzz. It's possible they could release a 2020 or 2020.5 updated version, but IMHO I think we are probably looking at a 2021 or 2022 MY release (while it seems all but certain the next WRX will move to the SGP and a FA variant, sales figures on WRX/STIs imply that this is likely a relatively low priority at Subaru...)

Actually, the 2019 has a lot of the type RA engine modifications, stronger pistons, etc. Although they only upped 5hp at the crank, the power to the wheels is increased from ~250hp to ~284hp (you can do your own research and confirm for yourself). Paired with the new infotainment that includes Apple car play and android auto, I think it’s a considerably different beast.

@69mrbrightside691 what's up bro if your to concern about fuel then throw that option out because this car is fast and will eat so be aware of that. I can feel the lag sometimes compare to the wrx which boost at 2500 rpm. But the car can be rough at some points but man that's what's it's about!!! Wrx owner can say yeah I can put 7 grand and be caught up to you. But who in their mind goes I wanna own a wrx. Na the still is the bread and butter the head hancho! The still rumble is something beautiful and wrx owner will never know. Do I think it's worth 40k no not at all lol. But if you get the 2019 just know you might have the last gas fuel made for the still come 2020 and that my friend is something to hold onto. It's my everyday car and I treat it like it's a lambo lol. But don't listen to the people that always talking about a rod going bad. Just know this it's like putting steroids in your body eventually theres going to be complication. For me I'm under warranty and taking advantage of that baby. handling is marvelous . Understeer not many people know this when you take a hard take ease on the break and let it roll without gasing it and that will control the under steer . You gotta take away to give some. Ya know? Other then that it's a beauty. Overall it's a great brand just know it is pretty hollow so def look into sound dampner . The trunk rattles do to it's hollowness. Follow me and I'm going to put up a 10k miles of owning and my pros and cons about the STI.

Size wise, speed, handling I do have the short shifter and added the Cobb short shifter throw and man sometimes I miss shift cause it's so close hahhaahahhahha. But dude my kids mom complimented that the invidia r400 sounds great on my car and she dispise my car lol. But she drives it more then she would admit hahahaha. But it is a head Turner and everyone will wanna test you so just let them pass cause it ain't worth the ticket 🤣🤣🤣. Get the red rare color on the streets looks sexy af! I took my spoiler off and went low profile with a gurny flap and people still wanna race!! Geez

@69mrbrightside691 I haven't but I have a buddy who goes to shasta every weekend when it's snowboarding season and he has a wrx and says it handles with no problem so I couldn't imagine an STI which is alot better in the steering category .
