The Arteon definitely drives better and more comfortable than my mercedes W205 C200 on Malaysian road

I think yours is C200 AMG Line. Have driven once. Honestly, didn't expect it to be too harsh, coarse, bumpy and rasa melayang (rear). Sports suspension setup. Worsened by run flat tyres and very low profile tyres (especially rear). Can feel every surface of the road.

Hehe maybe time for you to upgrade to upcoming W206. According to all reviews in Europe, the upcoming C-Class is superbly comfortable and so smooth even in sports suspension setting.

Since last year end, Volkswagon Malaysia start to take booking at around RM 298K. That price is for 220hp or more... But after that maybe consider Malaysian market and our people's special need, then drop to this price with same engine as Passat! One of their selling strategy...

At 220k for this vs 240k for the 320i (which we all know you would buy it for 220k at the endless BMW "sale"), it is honestly a hard sell for the Arteon - yes sure it has DCC but aside from that, it has less safety features compared to the 320i, drivetrain isn't as lively (the B48 is great even in 20i form), the 320i has a better ownership package with the 5 year warranty and service and of course, for the DSG detractors, the 320i runs a torque converter. And it is not to say the G20's passive suspension is terrible or anything VW Malaysia own-goaled themselves on this one really, if they wanted to charge near premium pricing, on a semi-premium car, with only one real standout feature, that honestly is wishful thinking. The 2016 B8 Passat 2.0 TSI was just about the 200k mark, and that had the same DCC, effectively the same interior as this and standard Lane Assist on the 2.0. Even if they offered the 2.0T 280PS 4Motion (the pre-facelift globally either had the 190PS FWD or the 280PS 4Motion, but the facelift now gets the 270PS FWD and AWD if not mistaken) with the 240k price and put in the driver assist features, this can then compete against your 330i, C300, S60 T5 and so on from a value standpoint. Why sell the 190PS in our already tiny market, which will essentially just cannabalise your B8 sales? I have come to know the Arteon platform well as I am considering to step into one here, unfortunately in North America for me, there aren't that many that were sold due to how close the base ones were priced to the Audi A5 Sportback 2.0T. We only get the 280PS 4Motion with and without R Line & driver assist - but as it turns out companies like APR can tune your 280PS up to an over 300+ PS car in stage 1 so that's solid, basically my dream Golf R 4 door, even more practical and sleeper car.

Did you switch to SPORT mode in the first place? It's totally different feeling when accelerating, engine and transmission become very aggressive

Thank you for pointing out the chassis can take more power kon, I'm sure they'll be people modifying to stage 1 or stage 2 on this vw.

The Arteon in its softest configuration is still firmer than the passive suspension in the Passat Elegance having driven them back-to-back.

My B8 HL got DCC and while driving I change the mode from normal to comfort, suspension is getting softer but it is still firm. After I get off from car and come back to drive again, I was surprise that the ride become really soft. I bet the comfort mode is softer than Accord (normal mode Passat suspension is much firmer than Accord). I try to find out more on this and reason is because changing DCC mode while driving the car factor in the weight of passengers inside the vehicle. The absorber probably sink 1/3 with passenger already inside the vehicle. And the piston rod inside absorber the working space is 2/3, 1/3 is space is being restricted. After switch off the engine and all passengers left, the suspension will lift back to its normal position. Even if the car fully loaded with passengers the piston rod can work on full distance inside absorber.

So if you change the normal mode to comfort during driving, the feeling of comfort mode after we switch on the engine and drive the ride comfort is different. You can check it out

I test drove the Arteon today. Impressive car. Asked the salesman about the facelift, no official world from Volkswagen Malaysia but he predicts the facelift will be available later this year.

Poor strategy by VW. Made a major mistake by launching it in late 2020 when it was globally launched in 2017. And even in 2020, the facelift was already in works.= and launched. Msia gonna launch it now, less than a year. Very disappointing management. Ive never seen any carmaker launch facelift in 11 months after the new model.

@@flyingfox3766 Lol it's been ages since they'd been selling Polo. I think 2020 already stop. VW is only selling Tiguan, Passat and Arteon. Lol what's wrong with them? The market is bigger and more demand for B segment (sedan & SUV) and C segment sedan and SUV (Tiguan for this). By right VW should be offering more SUV options. I'm not a fan of SUV but to win the market and achieve higher sales figures, VW M'sia needs to indulge in SUVs.
