I took the stock breather box and placed it in a storage box and put it on the shelf. The 38 Motorsports oil breather replaced it so it's no longer needed. The FCI doesn't make any consessions for the stock breather box and actually I didn't know that until I got it.

So I'm currently running map 5 at 7,7,6. Map 7 seamed to eat way more fuel because its a high compression map. Map 5 is the same as map 9 but with the lower rev limit. If you have a dyno tuner close to you its highly recommended and will certainly ease your mind. Remember that your bike is lean from the factory so your only helping it even with the stock settings of Map 1 5,5,5.

Sweet ride brother! Hey I got a question, I ride a 2016 Yfz 450r SE & i want to add a K&N air intake too! Where you get yours from? I can only find 2003-2009 K&N airtakes & I’m not sure if they fit my year! Thanks & sweet ride bro!
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 3 жыл бұрын
According to the K&N website you should be able to use YA-4504 K&N REPLACEMENT AIR FILTER for the 2016 450R. The one I purchased comes with the Fuel Custom's intake and doesn't utilize a center pin mount like the stock setup but a pipe clamp collar. The Fuel Custom's K&N is kinda large and a bit of a pain to secure with the air box option. If you are looking for a second opinion then Prodesign has a solution but you have to drill out the rivets holding the cone shaped screen and remove it to bolt on their Billet flange system that will accommodate a K&N. Always run a filter precharger with K&N filters. I've used K&N for years but I also clean them after every weekend trip. The K&N spray cleaner in the black bottle is the best and definitely recommend. Then lightly coat with their spray on oil.

@350iroc9
@350iroc9 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Efren. Because it wasn't the most enjoyable install I've ever done I really don't want to take it off to put it back on to make an install video. I'm new to the 450R and learning myself. I can tell you that he issue was all of the wires in the way when attempting to tighten the clamp to the throttle body side. The clamp that Fuel Customs sends you kind of sucks. I ended up deciding to reuse the stock Yamaha clamp that uses a small allen key head. If you go this route though make sure you use an allen key with the rounded style head. This will allow you to get a better angle on it for tightening because there just isn't much room to work and its extremely hard to see in there. Did you get the air box version? Did you already relocate the oil breather box? Do you have any specific questions or concerns on the install?

@@efrenrodriguez741 Hi Efren, Looking at my stock intake boot I can see what you are referencing. That hose is designed to be a drain in case water got past the filter system. Since the Fuel Customs intake has no previsions for this hose you can simply remove it.

GLAMIS is life! I’ve got a 2018 stock but i wanna put some upgrades. Can you or someone tell me, do i have to get it tuned if i put an aftermarket exhaust on? I’ve seen people say yes and I’ve seen people say no.
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 3 жыл бұрын
GLAMIS is like church for the soul! If you have an all stock machine and put on an exhaust you will need either a fuel management controller or a Vortex ECU. If you don't you will be running lean with no way of correcting it. You'll know your lean because the motor will pop when riding. An exhaust will also demand more air flowing in to keep the balance. Without more air you won't get the full benefit of the exhaust (except for the sound). Either remove the air box lid all together -or- if I had to do it again I think I would go with the EHS Racing stock air box cutout/cover. This $90.00 kit will provide open box performance and closed box protection. Although I'm impressed with the FCI intakes performance, I'm less than impressed in the way it was engineered. It loosened up on me in Glamis and was lucky to notice. To tighten it back up is a nightmare because there is little room to do anything on these quads. I myself though and to take the mystery out of proper tuning am seeking a dyno shop in my area. I think I'm close but would prefer to be exact. Also and as an FYI - its imperative to check the voltage output of your TPS sensor. This should be the first thing you do before any upgrades. So many owners are reporting the TPS is out of spec right from the factory. According to the Yamaha service manual it should be .679 to .681. Hope this helps, thank you for the comments and best wishes on your path to the BIG 3!!!!

Question. Can you just take off the top of the air filter box to do the same instead put whole new air box set up.
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 3 жыл бұрын
You can but you won't get the increased airflow that the Fuel Custom's intake provides. The stock intake is a bottleneck in the system and restricts the airflow.

Love your videos sir! I’m in the process of installing the big three today and having an issue installing the RP RACE REGULAR exhaust system. Any tips on how to weave or wiggle the header pipe to clear the rear shock and or other items in the way? I know you bought rossier engineering. Any tips or tricks will greatly be appreciated! Also, the RP RACE INTAKE SYSTEM, it won’t seat properly and won’t align with the OEM subframe bolt holes to secure it. How did you get it to install on your bike?
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
Hi and thank you for the question but as you noted I only have experience with the Rossier brand of exahaust. As I look at mine I can tell you its a two piece system. I inserted the back of the head pipe in first in between the right side of the frame and the rear shock. Second step loosly bolt the head pipe to the head making sure to tighten each one of the two exhaust stud nuts evenly. Lastly fit on the exahaust can assembly to your loosly installed head pipe and snug everything down. Use lock tight on the bolt(s) that hold the exahust can to the frame. Just take your time and don't force anything. Have fun with it and make sure everything is tight and right. Congradualations on your new purchases and the new found power!

Thank you for the update! None of the rp parts worked. The owner was involved and he graciously allowed me to to return the parts even sent me a return shipping label. Wow! So I’m left with the fci intake or a RRP trash panda intake. I’m leaning toward the fci because it’s been proven for years. The other one is too new to tell. Last, I opted to go for the full stainless yoshimura system for exhaust. The rossier was too long on the wait. I’ll keep you posted on how it works soon!
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
@@mchevownr Well I'm certainly glad you were able to work out a return that's great. We still need more details on why exactly the parts combination didn't work out though. Just as you visited this video for insight its important we go full circle regarding the circumstances for others to understand. The RP intake should of included a 4in blue flexable boot that connects directly to the throttlebody with a clamp. The key words are 4in and flexable. Is this the point you got hung up at? You stated there was a existing bolt in the way preventing the install but we need clarification on what part of the intake was being obstructed (the blue intake boot or the main body of the intake itself?) What was the bolt in the way being used to hold together or its precise location? Secondly to the RP exahust system. Did the owner of RP state that their system is not designed to work in conjunction with the stock YFZ shock creating the clearence issues? If I were you knowing what I know about the challenges you will face installing the FCI, I would opt for a simple Pro-Flow adapter to get rid of the restritive cone screen and mount a K&N or UNI style filter. This will allow for the stock air boot to be used while allowing the sensor to remain safe. The results will increase air flow and utilize the stock airbox. Additionally the filter will mount in a normal fashion as I explained in the video. You can run with the lid off or opt for the cutout as I did.

@@yahirbarragan6630 So this issue can happen to anyone any year 2014+. The problem is that one of the springs can slip out of the backing plate destroying everything. My buddy is not a track guy and just like you rides in back yards but still has fun with it. I think it should be a recall myself. Imagine if your drive train just locked up when you weren't expecting it! When I first heard about this issue I said the same you did. My mind changed when my buddy showed me the pics of the damage to his machine. Honestly I placed my order that day! Again it happened to him twice and the first time Yamaha footed the bill and did all the work! If nothing else you should call Yamaha and express your concerns. A quad can be replaced but we mortals can't. The whole thing is aggravating but another $400 added to the thousands for piece of mind is priceless in my opinion. @@abe3212 Yes those settings are working good but I really need to find a dyno tuner to be 100% confident these settings are correct. Reading a 4-stroke spark plug is not the same as a 2 stroke plug. Additionally when you use a high flow exhaust your always going to get a little bit of popping at times when decelerating. All in all though the Vortex is mandatory in my opinion for the 450.

Hi Cris. I only removed all the plastics to make this video but I am using the plastics to ride. Because apparently have an ATV addiction I did recently purchase a second set of plastics in the 2014 Special edition colors (Yellow front - Black rear) and the front assembly was only $95 brand new from Partzilla.

I want to also say be careful and take your time installing a FCI intake system. It absolutely sucks to install properly. For piece of mind and ease of installation I 100% recommend removing the rear shock first! This will allow you to properly get your hands in there to insure the rubber boot is installed tight and right on the throttle body opening. After my first attempt to install the FCI I noticed that it became loose and that's when I decided to remove the rear shock and do it the right way. It since has never come loose again. I'll also caution you about the air sensor that mounts to the FCI. If you don't have it positioned correctly you can snap it off when putting your seat back on so please be aware and good luck brother!

@@yahirbarragan6630 Its super easy to remove the rear shock. Plus it gives you the opportunity to lube up all the linkage bearings while its out. Again I highly recommend doing it this way. The last thing you want is an air leak because dirt and water will enter the motor. Without room to get your hands on things let alone see what your doing is a recipe for disaster bro.

@@350iroc9 yep a lot of yfz450r owners are doing it if not it's going to cost over $1100 I was reading about the 09-10 culth basket. That's really the only thing that have to be changed along with the washer. If I buy the parts my Yamaha shop would charge me $300 to put it in looking at $700. BIG 3 means - Intake , exhaust and a fuel management system upgrade. These 3 things alone will unlock your quads true potential as the factory intended. Because of EPA restrictions these quads are sent out in kitten mode but can be turned into a lion with the BIG 3!

@@xopepa1978 You will also need to remove the AIS system with a block off plate and get a oil breather box. These are both available at 38 motorsports. If you decide to do the FCI and exhaust you will also need either a Vortex X10 or have your stock computer reprogrammed.
@350iroc9
@350iroc9 Жыл бұрын
You certainly can but I would recommend the airbox version. The FCI airbox has no lid so it lets in plenty of air anyway. Additionally the airbox version also acts as a kind of support for the FCI. Lets say hypothetically if the FCI were to come loose from the throttle-body the airbox would prevent it from completely falling off. I've mentioned a few times now that when you go to install the FCI to do yourself a favor and remove the rear shock. This will allow you to get your eyes and hands in there to properly connect the FCI's rubber boot to the throttle-body. This little bit of extra time and effort is worth it 100%. The first time I installed the FCI I thought it was on there tight but it wasn't. Removing the rear shock is the only way to go and will insure its mounted tight and right!
