The Moto Guzzi V7 comes in new shape for 2021. Still classy, still V-Twin, but more powerful and more refined. However, the Guzzi V7 remains the most retro motocycle in the crowd.

Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

Well you're sure not scared to ride it, that's for sure.....loved that little scrape on the left turn in the beginning. Good review, love seeing someone, as we say in the states, "ride it like you stole it". Other reviewers pussyfoot around with it and never wring it's neck like you....Bravo!

I bought my V7 Stone in exact that color last week. Had a few rides now and love it. I agree with most of what you say. Only thing I see a bit different is the suspensions. I come from a Honda Rebel 500 and the Guzzi is a huge upgrade for me when it comes to suspension. Bumps that scared my on the Rebel, especially in turns, seem not even to exist for the Guzzi. Could be something different if you come from another bike like a GS1250 or something like that, but for me the Guzzi is an extremly comfy and stable bike. The problem with the gear indicator is a bit annoying, but you get used to it. It calculates the gear from speed and revs, so sometimes it needs a second or two, to get it right. Not a big deal.

Seems like you don't have much experience on the 90's and 00's Italian bikes, but still... a detailed, honest and complete review man! I liked the fact that you went beyond what's stated in the press release and beyond the obvious, referring to important details like riding with a passenger or how stable it is on the highway (should you want to ride it at higher speed). Well done!

It looks like a low slung bike that may scrape easily in corners. Love those twin pots and the shaft drive. Nice that you don't have to worry about a chain to oil and adjust. I'd buy one for that reason alone. Colour scheme is a bit of a spare parts jumble. Red with that gold eagle like they had on the V50 and 850 would be preferable in my opinion.

The time you most need a gear indicator is when you're stopped at the lights. It would be good to be sure you're in first, but unfortunately the gear position indicator doesn't work with the clutch disengaged. Go figure.

In niciun caz Street Twin la 1,90m!

i haven't ridden it yet but I have heard other people say the throttle kinda feels _snatchy_ I am thinking this could be fixed by messing with the MAP. Man the liquid cooled 1200cc Boneville puts out only 60hp, that's a joke! This air cooled 850cc puts out 65hp, that's magic.
@I-come-from-the-Future
@I-come-from-the-Future 3 жыл бұрын
Low power output out of large displacement typically means high torque. And that is the magic difference. So I'd always choose the high torque engine for a cruiser bike.
@ampm9771
@ampm9771 3 жыл бұрын
@@I-come-from-the-Future And what is high torque for you? 80Nm? of a 1200cc WATERCOOLED engine? Triumph T120 puts out only 7Nm more, and that for nearly extra 400cc. I get it its lower down the rev range, nowhere near anything to justify the extra 4k price tax. By comparison, V7 puts out 73Nm out of a real aircooled pushrod engine that delivers the power through a shaft drive. Objectively speaking v7 is the better bike. shaft drive, air cooled, bigger tang(higher range), better electronics, cheaper/easier to maintain, arguably better build quality, 4k cheaper and is made in Italy.
@I-come-from-the-Future
@I-come-from-the-Future 3 жыл бұрын
@@ampm9771 You need to compare the same build versions: 2021: T120 105 Nm at 3,100 Min-1 vs. V7 73 Nm at 5,000 Min-1. Pre 2021 versions: T120 80 NM vs V7 60 Nm. I rode the older V7 and it sucked. I actually own the older Street Twin with 80 Nm and that's a world apart.
@ampm9771
@ampm9771 3 жыл бұрын
@@I-come-from-the-Future I hear what you say. Still, I stand by what I say. V7 was 750 engine which was based on the older design which only delivered what was expected. 2021 V7 is based on the newer design 850cc engine with titanium valves. Before everything, we have to understand that 73Nm out of an aircooled engine at 5000rpm (which around 90% is already available at 300rpm) is an excellent job and is already beating any other bike in class in terms of power/torque for the money and other excellent features it offers. Don't forget that the figures of the 2021 V7 could have been higher since it's the same engine as V85tt. 2021 T120 on the other hand is a total disappointment, especially considering its 15k price tag and lower power figures.

Regarding the gear indicator, yes the clutch has to be fully engaged to get a reading, but it never actually gave me a false reading. Oh, and BTW, finding neutral when stationary with the engine off can be tricky on many bikes. He did eventually think to rock the bike jently back and forth in the end though. :D Best advice would be don't let this review put you off, just go and test ride one for yourself.
