3rd gen Toyota Tacoma rock crawler!
38" tires, ARB lockers, RCV axle shafts, Marlin Crawler RCLT and the list goes on... this truck has all the right parts to be an amazing wheeler, so is it? I just spent a week rock crawling in Johnson Valley and was getting asked questions about the truck every step of the way. In today's video, I want to show you what we have been up to and talk about my first impressions of this fresh build.
I know many of you are ready for an adventure video so that will be next 👊. Enjoy!

I wish youtubers didn’t feel like they have to apologize all the time. Who gets upset that a helicopter is flying around while filming? Who gets pissed that you didn’t take time out of you trip to not get us long videos of your trip? I really appreciate what you do and what you have taught your viewers. Keep on keepin on! 🇺🇸

People on the Internet are so petty. I think it has something to do with the anonymity. The stuff you read in some comments would never get said to people's faces. The lack of civility is the thing I hate the most about what has become the best way to share information man has ever had.

Fix it Again Tony said it nicely. Basically, more and more guys are turning into whiny little b*tches. Nate, you shouldn't apologize, man. We CHOOSE to watch your videos. If people want to complain about the FREE content we get from you, they can kick rocks.

Hey nate, if you do a fj cruiser transfercase swap and hardwire the front actuator you can slam it in 4 wheel drive 'manually'. The conversion is bolt on. Which would solve your abs issue and avoid being stuck in 2wd

I appreciate how you review items. You give an initial impression but hold judgement until you have adequate time to evaluate. So helpful for those of us who are looking for information on new products but want a real world, well tested, honest review. So many people I see get a new product (Sponsored or purchased) and give a final review after one quick use with no negative feedback, not helpful to me. There are pro's & con's to any product depending on the use and you can't know them all until you have tried them in different situations. Thanks for all the great content, I really enjoy your fabrication videos. Looking forward to more content of the Tacoma.

Thanks for the update Nate! Good on you for giving yourself some downtime with camera work. People that haven't done this type of camera work don't realize what goes into it. If you can't take the time to simply enjoy your truck with friends, and not work about working the camera all the time, it will slowly (or quickly) degrease the quality of your passion. Side note: You really don't need to apologize so much (or at all) in your videos. I know you do your best to make high quality videos, but this is not some hollywood movie you are making, where you have a team of people working with you and work in a controlled environment. If people can't see and appreciate how much you put into your videos and feel the need to complain about it, then I genuinely feel bad for those people.

Thanks for the great videos. It makes me feel like I want to be a welder/fabricator. The Tacoma looks out of this world. You mention you want to remove the bed and that is a great idea. I watch the Australians of the channel 4wd 24-7 and what they do to their trucks to make them self sufficient on the outback and the bed of your Tacoma is perfect for something like that. Thanks again for the great info and entertaining us. BTW love they way you put family first…..never change that.

When using a resistor to mimic the stock locker, start with a larger value to minimize the current and step down as needed to get the light to turn off. You can likely drive a relay from the connector to run the air solenoid and trigger the locker light on the dash also.
@Fix_It_Again_Tony
@Fix_It_Again_Tony 2 жыл бұрын
Driving the air solenoid for the rear locker with the stock locker circuit is a great idea! It might even be enough to fool the computer into thinking the locker is still connected.
@dang5351
@dang5351 2 жыл бұрын
You can’t fool the light, if it was a dummy light sure but it’s controlled by the ECM over CAN.
@Fei8lo
@Fei8lo 2 жыл бұрын
@@dang5351 The connector to the diff is likely 4 wires which have 2 for the locker solenoid/electromagnet and 2 for a limit switch that tells the control module if it is engaged. I have not worked on the new Tacoma but I believe this is how the older ones work.

Nate, your Toyota IFS rig is an extremely well built, bad ass truck. You’re a talented builder. I’ve been racing my 1987 IFS pickup in MORE over the last few years & always amazed at the reliable performance of the Toyota motor, drivetrain & IFS systems which has 300K+ miles. You will get decades of performance out of you rig with very few mechanical issues.

Hey good job brother... I myself have the Gen 3 2017 and slowly fixing it up...no rock crawler though but going to put the beefed up weld kit from Marlin just to make the control arms stronger with stock. Nate it would be nice to get different thinner fenders like you said if there is someone making them. I did go with CBI on bumpers and good idea about the front cam. Plus steel skid plate not flimsy alum. I have those Methods too..nice. Need to run my exhaust different and run the ARB front...4.88s. Don't want to trailer this truck. But thanks for all you do and keep it up. I know it takes a lot of energy doin this stuff...take care.
