What happened? Why no mention of the two way gate open options, the in bed trunk/cooler, or the bed sound system (RTL E trim)?

If youre actually a driving enthusiast, the Ridgeline is the only truck to get. My uncle had a BMW X3 35i with the i6 twin turbo and replaced it with a Ridgeline - he doesn’t miss the bimmer one bit as his daily. The Santa cruz might come close, but all DCTs are kinda a pain in the ass to live with in the real world. Raptor, TRX, Rivian are obviously a totally different ballgame ($80k+). For $45k with every option, the RL is hard to beat for it’s combination of driving experience and practicality.

Upon the dozens and dozens of Ridgeline videos I have seen on here yours was the only one that brought to my attention the trunk lock switch hidden to the left of the open glove box door. What a cool little surprise. Thanks!

Great review except for 3 things. First you didn’t show the in bed trunk that’s also a cooler and second the duel opining tailgate. It also opens across and is easy to access the bed. And three the in bed speaks I mean how do you do a review and forget or just not know the three main and important features of the truck that make it different from everything else in it’s class? I’m totally dumbfounded lol.

Damn those are pretty big features.. doesn’t sound like the review was that great then lol I appreciate you pointing those things out

@@sanmanDC050 yes he left those features out, but those have been hammered to death by every single other car reviewer since 2017. Obviously you knew about them, how many times can someone mention those things? I think he did a great job with the video, definitely learned a couple nuances that other reviewers glossed over.

Great presentation! However you forgot to demonstrate how the lift gate drops down and swings out. The lift gate swinging out makes it easier for people like me, under 6’ , to step into the bed. Thank you again for a thorough presentation.

Note that the heater has supposedly 4 heat cycles. Note that there is NO difference between floor/defrost and floor. When you select FLOOR it continues to send heat to the defroster (and floor). Compound this with a very small floor outlet and it makes for cold feet in our -30F climate. Not an issue for most. However, my wife and I go up to the Canadian Border to our off-grid place once a month and now wear electrically heated socks to counteract this design flaw as we drive up there. The dealer says that is intentionally designed that way. Also note the very small floor heater outlet which compounds the issue. Also, note (not an issue for most folks) you may NOT put a winch on that frame. You may use a hitch mounted temporary winch in the rear as an alternative, but a disappointment for me, but not for most. Also, the 18-inch tires are too small for a truck that tries to be a “big boy” truck. I like the truck as I do drive in the city mostly, but if you are looking for something more rugged, I would look elsewhere. Bear in mind that a hybrid version is probably “right around the corner” which will have better resale once the chip issue settles down. The navigation is not good. Just today, I had to use my Google app on the hone to counteract the incorrect directions on the RTL-E. Overall, it has a wonderful ride and does haul loads as stated.

Hey Will! The whole time I was watching this I kept thinking Ford Maverick and was going to ask which one you liked better but I think you addressed that in your closing comments. If it were me, I'd go with the Maverick and I'm not even a Ford guy. Just something about it seems more appealing (although the RIdgeline is nice too).

I agree Scott, the maverick with the 2.0t and AWD truly might be the best value vehicle on the road. This car will likely be better in terms of reliability and far better when it comes to space, but personally I’d probably go with the Maverick too. This is an awesome alternative in the mid size segment but the compact trucks are way better priced. Thanks for the comment Scott!

I believe the Maverick is better if you go base (sold out for 2022). Add AWD, 2.0T, Lariat Lux (comparable interiors), with spray in bed liner & it’s ~$37k for a smaller pickup. A RTL is $42k & a shorter wait. The FX-4 does make it more appealing for the off-roader but at that price & wait you can probably get a Tacoma 4wd.

The Maverick is tiny in person - smaller than the Ford Escape that was parked next to it in terms of height and width and the driving position is pretty low to the ground. That said, it’s still spacious enough inside for most and it’s still a practical vehicle even with a 4ft bed. It’s also $5k more affordable than the RL when similarly equipped and has more updated/better interior and safety tech. The Ridgeline is a true midsize pickup. It has the most spacious interior of any midsize truck and has most the usable 5 ft bed of any truck since no wheel-well humps + added in-bed trunk + swinging tailgate to give very easy access. It can tow 1000 lbs more than the Mav, and will have better long term reliability, and resale since it’s a Honda. It also has a higher more commanding driving position/view out which in my opinion is important since everyone drives a crossover these days. The suspension comfort and NVH is also better than the Maverick which points to a little bit better build quality. Kind of apples to oranges in reality other than the fact theyre both unibody. I was considering a Maverick especially after hearing all the positive reviews and hype, but for the reasons above, I’m swayed back to the Ridgeline again.

I cancelled my Maverick order for this today. Why? I have a two year old. The Ridgeline has a larger back seat for my child's car seat and future growth. The backseat is split when it lifts up, the Mavericks is solid across and I'd need to remove a car seat in it to access under seat storage. With the Ridgeline I can have a car seat and not only use under the seat for general storage, but flip up two seats to haul groceries AND a baby. The rear car seat attachment points are more user friendly in the Ridgeline. The Ridgeline has not only vents for my child in the back (Maverick does not.), but those rear vents have their own climate control. The Maverick has speakers in the pillars which would get very loud or annoying for a child, the Ridgeline doesn't. The Ridgeline has a huge trunk in the bed for storage and it can even act as a cooler as it has drain plugs. - As a family any storage is good storage! The Maverick max towing is 4k lbs while the Ridgeline is 5k lbs. The interior is quieter in the Ridgeline, which is not only good for a napping baby, but is nice for mom and dad so that we're not listening to wind noise plus a talking toddler. To get the Maverick with all of the features possible plus with the new price increases my order was $40,000. I tested the Maverick and as a 6' guy my knee's touched the drivers seat when I sat behind myself, so I know my 2yo would be able to kick my seat like crazy and potentially/eventually be uncomfortable as she grows. The extra space in the Ridgeline is gold. Also, the seats sitting higher means children can see out easier. The safety ratings for the Ridgeline are superior compared to the Maverick and probably all mid-sized trucks. For all practical purposes as a family the Ridgeline is the way to go. Not to mention a Honda will last far longer than a Ford. All of this coming from someone who has never even wanted to consider a Ridgeline in the past. They're not the most beautiful but they're much much better than they used to be.

For your money would you buy a Ridgeline or a Tacoma?
@WTFCRLT1
@WTFCRLT1 2 жыл бұрын
Both are great trucks. Ridgeline is far more comfortable and spacious but the Tacoma TRD models are off road beasts and bulletproof so really depends on what you prioritize. I’d personally go with a TRD Tacoma but I understand anyone who prefers the also great Ridgeline.

Depends. If you’re going to do some off-roading, Taco. Little or no off roading, the RL is the best choice. I had a 2022 Taco reserved, after I completed my research, cancelled the Taco, bought the RL RTL E, no regrets, I love it!
