Yes! When both of us like the program, I count it as a win too. I learned my lesson with my oldest in trying to add on too much during the early years. He barely remembered the field trips we took! 😂

I’ve never tried Singapore Math. It does seem like a really solid program and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it!

I was literally thinking the same about my oldest! I’m thinking of adding some phonics into his flow for the upcoming school year too. From Phonics to Reading does have some spelling included, but it’s more so for the sake of helping them learn how to spell phonetically as opposed to just having a list to memorize, although there are high frequency words included in each unit.

I couldn’t find one online when I was researching either so I’m more than happy to share it! I’ve never used Fix It Grammar or seen it actually, but we used to use TGTB. I would say there really isn’t a comparison in that TGTB is definitely not a phonics curriculum. Phonics is included but from what I remember of us using it, there wasn’t enough phonics instruction to teach my child how to read. Looking at the two overall, TGTB (we used them when they were pretty new) is more scattered with less consistency with practice of concepts. I think From Phonics to Reading is more organized, has clear focuses for each unit and sections within each unit, and seems to be a better option for actually teaching a child how to read.

@@onecaffeinatedmom I am using the new Simply TGTB It does teach phonics but my daughter had already mastered this with Jady A Elemental Phonics before TGTB LA. Many say they struggle with it. However it teaches writing instead of assuming the child know how to write like the Yellow Book and Red Book. I want a real reading program with spelling I think the Red Book will deliver.
