It's great that competition is encouraging innovation. I assume that always-on fan situation could be adjusted with a firmware update, but that build volume just doesn't cut it imo.

What about the stability of the bed? The rear z does have one more rod. Does it make a difference? And even more important is the bed flat? Do you have an active mesh to look at it??

I am in doubt between these two printers, the Creality K1 or the Flashforge 5m Pro, which one would you recommend? Thank you.

You said "Klipper-like software". Is it running Klipper or not? If not, why would you get this instead of a P1P/S. Parts for Bambu printers are widely available, and nozzle replacement don't cost $40 like this printer...

Your timing is perfect! I'm looking at replacing one of our Makerbot Sketches in a middle school classroom, I've had to fix it almost daily the past few weeks. My first thought was the K1 but after seeing this, I'm definitely intrigued. Would you say the noise level of the fans are lower on the 5M or the K1? Thanks!
@JJShankles
@JJShankles 9 ай бұрын
The 5M is quieter overall, but just has a constant noise level when on. The K1 gets much louder while printing.

The nozzle swaps on this machine are super pricey. Wish they found a way to make the quick swap work with some existing nozzle type using an adapter or such. Bambu's system isn't quick swap but their nozzle+hotend combo is less than half the price of these. And the K1 I've heard will let you just use Volcano-style nozzles with the bed auto leveling compensating from the slight height difference. Even if you do buy all the Creality nozzles directly from them, you can get a variety of them for less than 1 different nozzle for the 5M pro. Not a huge deal for most people, but if you're someone who likes to experiment, could be worth factoring the cost of those in. Any chance you know if this machine will be open sourced to support full klipper?

does this also have an internal blower fan for extra part cooling like the Creality K1 Max? Also, Qidi's new printers would have deserved a mention when it comes to comparison (even though their design is very questionalble lol)
@JJShankles
@JJShankles 9 ай бұрын
Yes it does have a large side fan like all the other ones. I didn't include the Qidi after I was so annoyed with how annoying their software was to use, and the screen layout felt unfinished

In earlier versions of S3D there was no means of sending prints to the printer other than by USB, meaning it was a pain to my Creator 3 etc. My workaround was to slice in S3D, and then load into Flashprint and send it through. I dare say you would be able to do the same with Orcaslicer to save running round with Thumbdrives.

Could you expand on klipper-like? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it compared to klipper?
@JJShankles
@JJShankles 9 ай бұрын
With all the features in this printer, I think it is based off Klipper vs Marlin firmware. I haven't been able to access the full klipper interface, but I'm working with the engineers to figure it out. All these companies put out their own "version" of klipper usually to communicate with their custom screens. I've found the big benefit of "real" klipper is super easy updates, vs these klipper-like versions need upgrades from the companies.

What do u think between ff 5mpro and bamboolab p1s? They are both pretty new products and provide same level of performance
@Bsquaredplus2
@Bsquaredplus2 7 ай бұрын
Bambu Lab is the one to go with, hands down. The AMS system alone makes it much more worthwhile. Yes, you have waste, but all printing with multi-color or multi-material has waste in the form of "poop" like Bambu or a tower with other systems. Bambu allows you to skip the tower completely.

Only thing that instantly comes to mind, is the annoyance of having a rear spool holder as nearly all come with now, so the first print would have to be a spool-relocation.

Does this have the full web interface? The 280* max temp is the biggest downside for me. I would like 300* for better printing of things like CF Nylon and similar materials that might work at 280, but do better with a bit more heat. I wonder if you was able to edit the printer config, if bumping up the max temp a bit would hurt the nozzle cartridge… Currently I am debating the P1S or the K1… Mostly the new $500 price point of the K1 is why it’s still in consideration, that and the recent full klipper release, plus the ability to use many types of nozzles is nice. The P1S I expect to just… Work without fuss. I just don’t like that it has limited offline functionality.
@JJShankles
@JJShankles 9 ай бұрын
I haven't been able to get the online interface to work, but their engineers are on a Chinese national holiday, so I haven't received many responses from them. I'll have to do an update when I get it working. I would personally take a K1 over a P1S because of the full Klipper control, but I just like to tinker and upgrade things, and the K1 is constantly on sale.

@@JJShankles I have an Ender for tinkering… My next printer I mostly just want to work without a ton of fuss. Plus I do like the extra build volume on the Bambu… But you are right about the K1 pricing. I will keep an eye out for an update on the 5M Pro.

I'm not sure if you bought it or not but I just got the non pro 5m for 299$, setup was really simple I took it out of the box, took out the foam and a few screws holding the bed down for shipping and it just works. Perfect first layer, really nice surfaces on prints, really fast and I've just used Flashprint for right now and the transfers are basically instant, if not it prints off of the usb drive perfectly but I've used my USB port for a USB webcam. It's not enclosed, however I usually don't print materials that require enclosures and in the future I plan to print the enclosure kit. One thing to note is that this isn't a machine you'd ideally like to have in the same room you're in as the movements aren't really that loud but the part cooling fan is.

It's enclosed, it has a touch screen, it has the camera, light, and side fan already installed. It's not limited by the Bambu Cloud, it doesn't drop filament bits out the back, nozzle changes are way easier, metal vs carbon fiber rods, USB flash drives are better than the micro SD card

Very biased review. Its better compared to the P1S that Flashforge has basically copied. The benchy you printed from the bambu was awful, I dont know what settings you had it print at, but the benchies I print on normal speed look a billion times better. You mention in a comment somewhere that the flashforge doesnt spit filament out the back like the bambu, Bambu does only if you have the AMS! Which in itself is a game changer, You dont have to use it just for multicolour prints. It saves loads of time when just wanting to change filament. You say thumbdrive is better than sd card? Hows that? Bambu has to rely on bambu cloud, no it doesnt?! I wonder how much flashforge is paying you 😂. You youtubers 😂😂😂😂

No obviously not, but these youtubers never seem to have the facts. They seem to make it up as they go along, and possibly go along with a script. Ive had lots of Flashforge machines. They are junk in comparison with others. Customer support is also dreadful. They release a printer then seem to stop supporting it as soon as their next model comes out.
