Totally agree on the forks. Test rode a 765 RS what a difference in cornering and breaking. Let me know what kits are available, if any, and th eoutcome of the new springs being installed by Blackfoot

Good review. Appreciate the sided by side. As an owner of the Monster plus for just under a year (over 4300 miles, commute on it and ride the piss out of it on backroads and twisties regularly), I honestly have a hard time believing anyone will see/feel any kind of difference in stability and handling of the bike with the steering damper. I see that feature coming in on a hard-pushing track day maybe? I dunno. Front suspension, yeah absolutely. But as a lighter rider, the standard Monster plus does the job well for the riding I do. If I wanted to get that level of adjustability and sophistication with suspension, there are other middle-weight nakeds out there that have that as standard for FAR cheaper than the SP. Just my take. Nice job though.

Great comment. Thanks for watching. I agree 100% on the weight of the rider playing a big part here. The Plus is totally capable of pushing hard with a 200lb rider with some skill. For a $17K bike there should be some suspension spring weights. But overall an awesome bike and the price of the SP is a huge premium. I am with you on the steering damper too - didn’t notice any significant difference in steering - the fork maintaining height and compression was the biggest plus for me. 👍🏼

@@streetsandpeaks3013 new rider here. aren't steering dampers to avoid speed wobble? not for regular driving?
@streetsandpeaks3013
@streetsandpeaks3013 Ай бұрын
@@MrNsentraYes! They are made for speed. My regular daily rides hit 200 kph regularly so the steering damper is a great add on. Even over 160 you can feel the difference and also under heavy acceleration and braking. 👍🏼

What a terrific KZfaq video. The comparison between the Ducati Monster Plus and the Monster SP is exactly what I am considering these days. I only recently purchased a 2023 Monster Plus. But I am considering eventually trading it in for the Monster SP. I really like the size and style of the current Monster. But it is the suspension that makes me want to move up a notch to the SP. I am not as tall or heavy as you, so I am not sure the switch would be as dramatic for me as for you. Just as you say in the video, the upgraded exhaust and the upgraded Brembos seem less important to me than the upgrade to the suspension. I'm not sure I would be able to get a test ride on a Monster SP that would really answer the question. For example, trying different settings in the fork and rear suspension, then riding on a variety of roads. Oh well. Your video helps me be a bit calmer. I liked what you said at the end of the video about how you generally feel the Monster Plus has almost everything going for it that the Monster SP has. The Monster Plus is a very fun and high quality motorcycle. Thanks, again.

Thanks for watching and for the comment. You nailed it. Just come hard onto the brakes off a 200+ straight once and fork dive is unreal on the Monster Plus. That said, in the Monster SP (or the Super Sport for that matter) you get exactly the same power for an extra $3000+. That doesn’t make sense to me. I am digging into adjustable fork inserts from Ohlins and Andreani that for the fraction of the cost of a new fork will give a spring weight option, rebound and compression adjustability. I will 100% do a full run down follow up video on features and cost of upgrading the Monster Plus. As you mentioned, in the end after riding them back to back and back again, I don’t know if there is enough of a gap to sell my bike (lose $3-4K) and buy a bike that is basically the same bike. The truth is I am hoping there is a Super Sport with the 937 Chassis coming - that Super Sport S with a 40lb weight diet would be a blast! Until then, I need to make my Monster Plus corner like an SP! Cheers

@@streetsandpeaks3013 It's funny. I am glad that Ducati made the SP. It's nice for each rider to have choices and think about what matters to them. But, I guess, for you, and certainly for me, the decision to trade in the Plus for the SP is not clear. One thing that also is a bit negative about the SP (in my view) is that the rake and trail are a bit more sporty (steeper rake and shorter trail), and the seat height, therefore, is a bit higher. Those differences are not an advantage (for the SP) in my view. They may be preferable to a taller rider or a rider that wants a quicker/sportier bike.

Just buy the aftermarket Ohlins front and rear.

I found the Monster SP quite good, super agile with good grunt - but does lack a bit of character and a but soft for my liking. Now a Hyper SP, thats an animal

Hey - super late reply. I thought the same about the hyper SP and just wished Ducati made a 700 single cylinder like the new one but for off road… so I bought a Gasgas 700. That bike is a Hoonigan!! Going to ride the new Ducati SM single as soon as I get the chance. 👍🏼

I just wish the bike had cruise, so my right hand could rest on occasion. It’s damaged, and the Duc is a bit vibey. Still, love the livery of the SP. Very good video. 👍🤪🇨🇦

Totally agree! I ride from Calgary to Invermere BC (@350Km - sometimes 700km return same day) and the wrist could use a break. The challenge with Ducati is every ad on for the bike is $500+. If I add suspension insert upgrade, heated grips, Cruise and the Mobility blue tooth, I am pretty damn close to the price of a Supersport 950 S with most of what I want. First world problems! Haha Thanks for watching. 💪🏼

I just test rode a 22 monster + . Loved the raw feel torque. I agree that adding cruise control would definitely be a major selling point. How would you add cruise to a monster?

Thanks for watching. Yes, the Rosso 4 replaced the Rosso 3. I had the Rosso 4 on the rear of my Monster Plus. They say it has less flex - but I found the Rosso wears quickly at the center because of the aggressive profile so I replaced mine with the Dunlop Q5S. 👍🏼

Checkout Tularosa Motorcycle Vlogger on KZfaq. He has a 2021 Monster Plus and has upgraded the front forks to Andreani. Tularosa is a very responsible, very experienced, very fast motorcycle rider from California. Tularosa has a 2-part video of aftermarket upgrades for the Monster, one being the Andreani Forks. Also, watch the video of his friend, who he is riding with, get hit by a deer at 100mph riding through the California Canyons. It will sober you. I've subscribed. Thank You for the video!!

You don’t know what are you saying the SP is totally different than the Normal even the setup and the electronics have changed for the sp and it’s 2 kg lighter and with better and more killer brakes so don’t tell that’s not a front fork😎

I rode the two literally back to back to back the same day. The electronics / driving modes are identical. Have you ridden both? When you ride the SP there is no question it is a better ride and obviously more adjustable, but it is also unmistakably the same motor with the same tune. The real question in the end, is it worth the additional cost $$ to basically upgrade the ride on the same 937 Monster? Or if you watch the next video - are you better off spending a couple grand extra and getting on a Streetfighter V2 if you really want more performance. I said a ton of good things about the SP over the Monster Plus, but again - it’s thousands of dollars I feel are better spent on a bike with a more powerful motor like the V2. Thanks for watching… guessing you are an SP owner?

@@streetsandpeaks3013 i am and sp owner and there is a big difference and different tune for the electronics with the Ohlins on it and different with the basics if you go to but the extras and install it on the current 937 will cost you the same or even more now about the is it worth it nothing comes free in this life if you know the recipe give it to me also mate ✌️😎

On British roads definitely the standard suspension is better! (Pothole country) that's why I've purchased the + My zx636 is not pleasant to ride....so! Horses for courses Excellent video 😀

Got it! Our roads are 50/50 in Western Canada…but the wide open highway riding here in the Rockies is epic!! I think for me the suspension set up is more about my weight and size. I am 6’ and about 195lbs (probably 210 with gear) so the issue for me was the prototypical Ducati setup is for a shorter / lighter rider. I really needed stiffer springs in the Monster forks for my weight and I did add the tall seat with the 20mm rise. Thanks for watching. Keep riding!
