I found the 22 MPG surprising (and not in a good way), especially if that's the dash number. My 2.7 ecobost F150 averages ~17.5, or 19 MPG according to the dash (mix of city and highway with some towing). I appreciate Ford building smaller trucks as the Maverick is as much truck as most full-size buying bros actually need, but with the efficiency being not much worse for a vastly more capable vehicle I can see why manufacturers went all in on big trucks. I think this vehicle makes more sense as the hybrid if your findings are representative of others experience

The hybrid model gets much better fuel economy, and is also cheaper, as that’s the base engine.

I'm a bit concerned about the overall reliability considering how much shared equipment like the gauge cluster and much of the center stack electronics with the ecosport. I'll be watching it, though. I've been interested in a smaller truck for a long time.

All the “luxury stuff like a heated steering wheel and seats, etc can be added through the lux package ford offers

5:30 Why didn't Ford put some of this physical switchgear into the new Mustang? They say there wasn't enough space on the dash and the focus groups "preferred a bigger screen" instead but I don't buy that...

That MPG does not surprise me considering it's the same engine in the focus and the escape i get 25max in my focus ST

Honestly if it gets that type of mpg I would get a Ridgeline instead a better put together product and a v6 and without the body on frame commitment

I own one of each I show in my videos and here is my short summary: The hybrid is practical but the turbo AWD is FUN!

Ford can't build Mavericks fast enough to meet demand. They're expensive for the size but people want little trucks, especially ones that hint at being off-roady. It's doing well because it looks like a truck, not a crossover or minivan with a bed. I like the blue interior and gold accents. It's nice to see color interiors making a comeback. I'm surprised that the Maverick doesn't have fog lights. Seems like an oversight by Ford to not design them in. I guess Ford figures the LED headlights are good enough and fog lights will add cost to what's supposed to be a cheap truck.

I'm not a fan of the Maverick truck; I think Ford Mavricks are cars from the 70s, not trucks from the 2000s. It's like you were saying about the Bronco - it's nice, but it should have been called something else!

It's Ford escape with a huge portion cut out towards the back. If you think you want a truck, you don't need a truck. This is a FWD borderline VAN with zero off-road ability. It's cool for the look but nothing truck about it

Yeah well people need space to haul things CUVs don't cut it and they don't want to go spend $40,000 on a used F-150 also there is no vans unless you want to buy a clapped out transit that was driven hard every single day

Ford continuing to pack it in with a cheap ass engine with horrid mpg and a rotary dial acting as a shifter. Oh and a 34k vehicle not having adaptive cruise control is the modern equivalent of a flip phone being a 1k. Sad what the brand has become imo.
