Nissan Philippines invited us to a fuel economy challenge with some of our media friends. To sample how efficient the Kicks e-Power is, we made things as consistent as possible, whilst each team employed strategies in a bit to be the best among the rest. We know that the Kicks e-Power is efficient, but among other media friends, which team is the more efficient to drive?

In highway drives, hybrid will just fare as well as an ICE. Hybrids would be much more efficient in stop-and-go traffic and congested situations because it recovers energy - which otherwise would have been lost whenever the driver steps on the brakes - thru regenerative braking, a feature which ICE has none.

Have the VL. I got it mainly for the coding exemption. Interior is a mix of good and bad (cheap) plastic trim. What's really disappointing is the lack of speed sensing doorlocks. C'mon Nissan, how much did it save you not to include that feature? My neighbor's sh*tbox mirage has them as standard...😑

Matipid pa rin tlga. If you were to choose between kicks vs corolla cross hybrid. Which would you prefer and why?

The Kicks e-Power is the better car to drive for me. It's smoother due to the 100% electric-driven nature of a series hybrid, and the steering, chassis, and suspension are tuned to deliver a more agile driving experience compared sa Corolla Cross. But overall? I'll still pick the Corolla Cross Hybrid since it's the overall better package for me. Bigger space, more features (including the full Toyota Safety Sense suite), and nicer interior. Worth mentioning is the Yaris Cross Hybrid, though based on our first impressions which you can also watch on our channel, I find the car to be a bit rough on the edges (slightly firmer and more jittery ride, more vibrations when the engine turns on, etc.) pero it has more features (including full Toyota Safety Sense and even a panoramic sunroof) and is also a bigger and thus more practical car for the same price as this Kicks e-Power VL. Kicks is likewise the better driving car than the Yaris Cross (regardless if hybrid or not), but due to its sheer value for money, we're slightly more in favor of the Yaris Cross (all variants).

The kicks has more value proposition compared to the YX if we compare the VE variant which is 200k less. Nissan's standard warranty is also 5 years compared to 3 years that of toyota. @@GoFlatOutPH

I have an ICE car that consistently consumes 18km/liter in a combined city and highway drive. These hybrids should do at least 25-30km per liter just to convince the skeptics like me.

For cargo ships and trains to have Diesel- Electric propulsion configuration is understandable.. But for a car, idunno... Nissan kicks is hardly an EV nor a hybrid at the same time..
