Cool bike. I took my windshield off, can't take looking through anything on rock trails, no problem with with wind on my chest. First thing I got was the Acerbis 5.3 gallon tank, 220 miles before I hit reserve. Then it was the seat, skid plate, case covers, rear rack, headlight, windshield I took off, tusk luggage racks I've taken off, hard luggage is too heavy, tires bark busters.......Handy tp, when you put on your case savers permatek makes high heat grey silicone that matches the cases almost perfectly

Hey armadillo, awesome you have yours decked out to what you want! Super customizable bike that’s for sure. How tall are you? Im almost 6’3 but haven’t had an issue seeing the trail with the windshield I plasti dipped. The main reason I did it was because at night for some reason when I had the brights on I would get glare back making it hard to see. The plasti dip fixed that issue. Forgot to mention it in the review. Thats amazing 220 miles before reserve!

🤣🤣🤣🤣oh no wonder, I have the low sargent seat and am 5" 8", old and shrinking. Yeah, that tank is great, I can fill up, go to favorite spot, ride all day and get back home without stopping for gas. The loop I do is right at 217 miles.I've never run dry but I'm guessing I could probably get 250 miles out of it.@@hegemonictrader45

Hi friend, did you have to do anything with the neutral sending unit screws that they say are infamous for getting loose? I read somewhere that Suzuki addressed the issue around 2017; I own a 2022 drz400 sm and have always thought about getting the DR650. Have you heard anything about the neutral sending unit issues on the DR650? Thank you Have an amazing day
@hegemonictrader45

I would not worry about the issue :) As you said Suzuki addressed that issue on fairly new DR650 models. Id leave it well enough alone. I still have my uppper chain roller near the front sprocket on also. Ill just keep an eye on it for wear and replace when it needs to be.

Honestly don’t mind the seat. And I like the looks with the gray/black along with Suzuki logo compared to aftermarket seats. I got the clock off Amazon. It’s called PerfecTech Waterproof Motorcycle Clock. Just fyi it is cheap. Battery went dead on mine. Ordered a new one and the hands were broke but just took battery out of that instead. Its like $15. You can also get stick on clocks that could probably be placed on the flat surface of the top of your front forks.

The most expensive was my Road Glide Special which cost 40k and I had a few ZX14s and GSXR1000 etc. Nothing felt better and made me smile more then the King. I have a '22 model and it's a great bike. I did feel the need to lower it because it's a very tall bike even though I'm 6 feet tall. I'm all about the reliability of aircooled and carbureted bikes, and the DR650 is bulletproof in this regard, totally diagnosable and fixable on the trail no matter where you are. I love the bike so much I'm thinking of buying another '24 model and leaving both bikes in different parts of the country so I can just fly out during certain times of the year and just pick up my bike and go camping with it. Not in love with the Seat Concepts seat kit I bought for it though, excellent seat cover but hard as hell seat foam, would not buy again. All in all I love mine, happy you love yours too, enjoy!

@@hegemonictrader45 Very very disappointed in Seat Concepts... Why advertise your seat kit as a "Comfort Seat" then send it out the door with foam that's as hard as the stock seat or harder? They've got a sense of humor over at Seat Concepts I guess but I'm not laughing. What I did was to get some much softer foam and cut out a 1 inch deep square in the middle of their seat foam where I would sit and replace that area with the softer foam, this worked very well and the seat works nicely now. It does upset me that a seat manufacturer doesn't know as much about making a softer seat than I do yet they advertise it as such... I will say that their carbon fiber look seat cover is excellent though, really really nice looking and quality made, but how do you do such a nice job on that and then drop the ball completely on the foam? Way to disappoint a customer... Oh well, I corrected it, but I would look for a different seat kit if I were anyone else.

Why do u need a windshield for 80 mph at its most. Wind noise from turbulences are much more annoying then a little bit of wind pressure. I would say its a nice to have but not number one 😊 Other then that good job :))
@hegemonictrader45
@hegemonictrader45 8 ай бұрын
Even without windshield wind noise is annoying for me. Maybe its my helmet though to. Regardless I wear ear plugs whenever I ride. I had to get windshield as riding on highway at speeds 55mph plus for extended periods of time was unenjoyable for me anyway. Along with being made into a bobble head 😆 The windshield made it way more comfortable. Just sharing my experience. Even off road its nice having that take care of hitting small tree branches taking the brunt of it on narrow trails.
@marcboriss187
@marcboriss187 8 ай бұрын
Yeah ure absolutel right. I am not saying that in generally windshields are useless. But especially with a noise sensitive helmet it can accumulate to a very dangerous noise level. Ear protection with plugs is always a good recommendation. Most riders I know were unhappy with their stock windshields and they spend heaps of money for a acceptable solution until theyve sold the bike 😅 If the helmet is exposed to a non turbulent wind force! Most likely uve got the most silent solution. I am not talking about a Goldwing or BMW RT and so on. I would try another helmet. !! Greetings from Bavaria 😊
