The pig is finally dialed in! Had to go with the 145 main jet from 150 since I didn’t modify the air box.

I just re jetted my 2024 DR650 per ProCyle's instructions after installing a slip on exhaust. I opened the air box per the diagram provided by them and installed the 150 jet. The bike runs so much better, it is way more responsive and has a lot more power over stock.

Ive done these mods on a 2009 and it was ok but the single most effective change was to install a secondhand Keihin flat slide carb. It is night and day better.

When I first got my DR 650 back in 2016 I did the Pro Cycle kit and airbox mods along with a Hayabusa muffler and Pro Cycle mid pipe kit. Sounded good and ran much better than stock but I did take a hit to the mpg. I recently installed a Mikuni TM40 and a full FMF system, huge difference in throttle response in every gear and not that much louder.

I have a similar setup without the airbox mod. I just picked up a 2024 and didn’t want to start cutting it up yet. ProCycle sells a kit exactly for no airbox mod. These are what my carb mods. It’s the FactoryPro kit. #45 pilot jet(stock is #42.5) #145 main jet(also comes with 142.5 and 147.5 that I haven’t tried. Stock is 140) Shorter spring Comes with titanium needle. I believe I used 3rd from the top I also installed a new fuel mixture screw. Stock was screwed all the in. I have it 3.25 turns out. Runs excellent with those mods. I don’t even need the choke anymore. Throttle response is snappy. My kit didn’t come with the spring because they forgot to put them in a couple kits. I just got the spring in the mail today and I’ll probably install it tonight. So I don’t know if the spring helps much.

Hey thanks for the input! Crazy your stock mixture screw was all the way in!!?? Mine was like 3/4 when I pulled the plug. Id like to try the 142.5 main actually. I have the 145 main from procycle with the needle on knotch 3 instead of 4. Extended mixture screw I have a hare over 1 turn out and idles nicely! But yea don’t wanna cut up the airbox. To much extra dirt to get in there that I don’t want to clean. Going to try a new HiFlo air filter tho

@@hegemonictrader45 I have a K&N. Did you replace the pilot jet too or just the main

I've enjoyed your experience, thanks! Have you removed the snorkels at least? That might give you enough air without any cutting. I don't have a DR yet, but on a XT225, simply opening up the mixture screw without using a larger main than stock or changing the needle was a big help, and reading the spark plug closely for awhile indicates the fuel mixture is pretty good.

I did try removing the snorkel and it didn’t seem to help. I should have just tried removing the air box side panel itself where I access the filter but didn’t dawn on me at the time. I will do that next year if I decide to put the 150 jet in again before I cut the top of the air box. Absolutely I bet it helps just being able to adjust the mixture screw. Hope all is well otherwise and you won’t be disappointed in the DR imo. I love it.

I thought you may have already tried it, oh well. Yeah, the DR looks like a great, reasonable platform!
