Good luck Frank, hope you have a great hike. You are right, you need to be as fit as you possiblly can before your hike. Also, practice with your equipment and go out and do multi day hikes! Take care,

Hi Steve!! Go Crimson Tide!! Thanks for following my channel and journey. I was actually in my early 40's (circa mid 1990's) when I saw a Discovery Channel show on the AT. I happen to discuss it w/ my boss the next morning because he said he watched the show also and thought it would be fun. Well, 5 months on a trail didn't fit my life schedule at that time and eventually the dream became a distant though in the back of my head. Then in 2015 off to Africa I go for a week of "high altitude trekking" and summited Mt Kilimanjaro at 19,341' in 6 days. That helped keep the AT dream partially alive until 1 night 2 years ago when my wife and I were sitting outdoors in the hot tub on a cold winter night and she asked why I never took on the AT, so I described a 5 month trip away from home, a couple thousand $$$ investment, and my age. Again she asked why I hadn't gone yet. A dream was re-born again that night!! I depart in less than 2 months now and HIGHLY encourage you to plan your dream starting NOW! It took 2 years of research, planning, gear collection and testing to get to today. I'll promise you now to follow your adventure and be a "virtually Tramily" support if you go!! Peace!

Hello from Michigan. Just found your channel today and excited to follow along with your journey in 2024! Thank you for taking the time and energy to post these videos. I'm not at a phase of my life where I can get long hikes in, but enjoy cheering others along. Godspeed!

@bryanmosher5488 Hey Bryan!! Thank you so much for subscribing and following my journey. I just checked out your page, and can tell you that 20 years ago, when my dream journey thoughts started, I was in your exact same "phase" of life. Young families come 1st. There's plenty of time for your journey to come true!! Let's plan to chat while I'm "out there" next year. KEEP ON DREAMING my friend!!! Peace!! 😎✌️👍

Nice video! I used to be an avid skier for 33 years and even worked the slopes of Greek Peak over in Virgil as a "Courtesy Patrol Member." When I skied with the Triple Cities Ski Club, we would take bus trips over to Bristol and ski there. I was a beautiful mountain to ski and I do remember the Milky Way run. Great place to train. Do you hike the FLT much?

Awesome. I am only 66 and thinking of a thru hike. Yes start very slow but hit it hard and then harder. This will not be easy but it can be done

Completely agreed! My plan starts with 8-10 mile days and increases eventually to 20+ as the legs get stronger and the day light lasts longer! I hope you make it to your thru hike some day!!! 😎✌️🤞👍
