2024 Dam Flask Relays

First time running in the relays and running the 2nd leg for the Sheffield Running Club in the Senior Men's Team B,
After a few dry days, it decided it had enough and a biblical rain storm swept through the valley, bringing a lot of water, a spot of hail, a couple of flashes of lightning and rumbles of thunder and some depositing some debris on the course.
A 3.5 mile loop around the reservoir and up a leg destroying hill, before dropping back down to Low Bradfield and handing over the baton.
Fortunately the rain largely subsided while most of the relays were taking place, but came back with vengeance as towards the end.
Official finishing time of 23:45, accumulative team time of 1:3:33
35th Men's team overall out of 77 and 22nd in the Men's Senior category

Cheers Jeff! Yeah, it was a bit tough on that climb up the hill. It felt like it was going on forever! Might have overcooked it slightly in the first half then ran out of steam and couldn't recover enough for the end!

Great stuff Matt. That hill looked rough but that was a good battle down the hill with the other guy... 🙂 That's an interesting team event.

Cheers Keith, yeah that hill was wasn't fun at all, didn't have much left in the legs to be able to race down the hill to the end. It is the first time I've run in the replays, was fun, looking forward to the next time !

I ran it as well. The hill was an absolute beast but the downhill was great for just putting ya body in neutral. Great vid

Thank you, glad you liked the video! Yeah that hill was hard work, I did try to lean into the descent, but my legs were spent and it destroyed my calves and they cramped up just after the handover, made hobbling to the top of the hill to get the car after, interesting!

Ha ha, yeah, the first couple of miles are fine, then you hit the hill and all the pace you had, goes out the window!

I didn't get home until after 10pm that night, stayed awake long enough to have some tea, then fell asleep !
