@MattClarry6 күн бұрын
Yeah, the hill at the end wasn't fun.
@yellowfolder6 күн бұрын
Nice one. I think you had the right idea of treating it more as a leisurely Sunday run than a race, as the course did look a little stop-starty in places with various stationary and non-stationary obstacles. Looked like a fun day out!
@MattClarry6 күн бұрын
Cheers, I had originally intended to race it, hence setting off rather too quickly, but in part due to having run the Rother Valley parkrun an hour before, I didn't have the pace in the legs to do so. Not really fuelling properly probably didn't help much and led to some calf cramps towards the end too!

@MattClarry9 күн бұрын
Ah, I'm sure you'd be fine, there are plenty that do it in that time ! And there's no such thing as too slow at parkrun, there is always an official tail walker that make sure they finish last !

Great running. I didn't realise the dry ski slope was no more. It was really good as it was huge in comparison to others in the uk. I wouldn't fancy running up it mind!

Cheers Garth, while the ski slop is still there, there hasn't been any skiing on it for a couple of decades, fortunately didn't have to run up the face of it, just up the relatively gradual slope at the back of it, did have to come down next to it though!

@MattClarry16 күн бұрын
Cheers ! Yeah, that was a lot closer than some others that I've had recently. It is a nice course, fairly flat, but does sweep down as it goes through the trees, the gradual ascent after that probably slowed me down a bit.

Good run Matt. Yes, could see the pace dropped a bit on you in the last mile but you are still in good form. Have you ever tried negative splitting the 3 miles?
@MattClarry17 күн бұрын
Cheers Keith! I have tried negative splitting, but often I find I get stuck at that initial pace, like the previous parkrun at Poolsbrook, I set off at 6:30 pace with the intention of increasing the pace as I went, but although the effort went up, the pace stayed the same. Usually the only time I do manage it, is if I'm taking it easy and get carried away towards the end !

Hey Mark! Congratulations on your first parkrun! Ay, I felt quite self conscious when I started recording the parkruns, more so perhaps as I used to have it head mounted and was quite conspicuous! Very good run all the same Matt, even allowing for the fast 1st km and the key pickup. Your fast finishing endurance and distance seem to have grown a lot... that's a serious hill you powered up on the last turn and sustained it all the way and up'd it more again to the finish line... Impressive!

Nice effort to take back that blue scalp at the end. You would have had him if not for the very narrow funnel. I dislike parkruns that narrow them that much, as they should be two abreast at minimum.

Good looking course and even better a 1 lapper. On your Sheffield half video, you showed the gradient along with your usual elapsed time, pace etc. Why don't you use it on the parkrun videos?
@MattClarryАй бұрын
I have tried putting the gradient chart on for parkruns, but more often than not, with trees around it gives a rather jaggie unrepresentative gps trace, instead of a smooth line that you would expect to see and didn't look great!

Jaysus, your a glutten for punishment 😃 Not a bad time relative to your 19 and a half - some serious inclines to deal with throughout the course and you weren't gaining much on the down hills versus the flat. Very good run and time looking at it from here. Were you happy with the Sunderland Half?
@MattClarry2 ай бұрын
Ha ha, yeah, seem to be Keith ! I'm reasonably happy with that, improved by 5 seconds over the last time I was there. Yeah I think the legs were trashed from the initial 2 climbs again to make much of a indent on the down hills. The Sunderland Half is not one I've done yet
