After interviewing Lazar I emailed Luka, his brother, who also qualified for the Games. We chatted about his first games and the 2 years he missed and also his fitness background.

There are so many heartbreaking layers to this entire story. These brothers, from a small and humble country, with immense levels of respect and loyalty to CrossFit, fight their way to the top with all of the odds stacked against them. They fought and they worked fucking hard. They wanted to bring the brand to Serbia and help change other peoples lives the way CrossFit changed their lives. They believed. Then, CrossFit failed Lazar catastrophically, on a live broadcast in front of the entire world that was watching. This is unforgivable. Look at the light in his eyes when he talks about him and Lazar wanting to open an affiliate together. Change needs to come. This can never happen again. This was avoidable.
