Changed my break in oil because I developed the “BBQ Tick” at 1097 miles and ford won’t fix it ..so I changed the oil at 1369 miles with OEM oil and filter just to clean all the factory stuff out ..didn’t reset the oil life indicator because I will be changing it again when it hits 40% currently at 89% ..
Tools & equipment needed:
Socket set
15 mm socket for drain plug
7 mm socket for underskirt bolts
Your Hand 🖐️ for the filter
5w-30 synthetic blend oil 10quarts
Motorcraft FL-500S oil filter
Flat head screwdriver for the plastic retaining clips on the underskirt
16 quart oil drain pan
Jack with jack stands
Gloves
Oil Absorbent 🧽 napkins

That "crappy underbody skirt" is an air diffuser which improves gas mileage as it streamlines air flow under the car which reduces drag and helps increase gas mileage. Excellent video of showing draining the pan and removing and installing the filter.

Awesome Color though I just saw a Video where behind the Front Wheels there is an Opening which collects Rock or moisture and in Winter Snow Condition will Cause Corrosion in the Rocker Panel, because the added panel keeps it from clearing up. The only way to Fix is Replacing the Shroud from an S550 or adding Mud Guards this is only on the S650 Congratulations on your Purchase It's go you broke it in

I am OLD SCHOOL and the purpose of the early oil change is to remove any shavings or debris left behind from the break in period. A brand new engine properly set up will cough up minute particles left from assembly. Its best to dump the oil and change the filter. A wise mechanic once told me OIL "It's the cheapest thing you can put into your engine" When my 2024 arrives I'll put 500 miles on her and the oil and filter are history.

Bro don't use synthetic blend use full synthetic that stuffs for like old 70s trucks

I removed only the fabric tray on my S650. It's a bit more work compared to my S550.

I think I’m going to remove mine and make my own push pin access door for the oil filter, like previous generations have had? Having been with the car for just over a month I can see many areas where you can see ford rushed production to make deadlines and this is a good example of one of the many issues I’ve found

Bro do yourself a big favor and install it back on please. That thing is there for a reason. You have coolers, lines and wires under there. It is not only for drag or mpg, but also protects the wiring and lines and coolers under there. You gonna end up with damaged parts real quick or even worse rusted parts. You're asking for trouble if you keep it off. Even trucks have them and they are not the most aerodynamic or effecient vehicles and they are meant for protection. One small stone chip to a line and you're done.

I’m with you, no way am I not putting clean oil on the filter ring. Also, is it possible to mark the filter from the top side to check if it’s rotating?
