@@fers5278 first of all! you don’t know engines calling them V4 lol they are 4 cylinder turbos not V4’s. Secondly look at the turbos Toyota produced in the 80’s. I never see a Ranger or Frontier from 1999 -2005 v6 they were all 🗑️

I agree a loaded Pro 4X with leather, sunroof etc.. is still under 50K. I'd say 7K off these tacos will get them back with the competition. I really thought this new taco would spell doom for Nissan. Boy was I wrong. The fact that they are already discounting shows they priced it too high. It was two years before I saw Frontiers showing discounts. And its possible to get Pro 4X with a 2-3K dollar discount. Making that truck a much cheaper option. And they are probably a better built truck at this point.

Here in California, the ones on the lot get sold right away. If you want one you have to put a $1K deposit and wait for one in transit. Also you’d be lucky to get it at Msrp, they have markups and people are still buying them

I bought a new 2022 SR5 2x4 for 26,500 just 2 years ago, it had the 4 cylinder 168hp, I did not like it after I bought it, I payed it off only put 2900 miles on it and kept it new, I traded it for a new Colorado Trail Boss, GM gave me 30k , I financed 14k for Colorado and now have it too payed off,,,, I’m glad I bought my new Chevy , I can’t believe a SR5 2x4 is allmost 40k

Good buy. In a world where every name brand uses parts sourced from hundreds of suppliers from untold number of countries with varying quality and unknown reliability you can pretty much buy from anyone. The only things to really consider are price, engineering and customer service. I'm using my last Toyota right now, they gave up any semblance of what they used to be about in so many ways thus driving off decades-long loyal customers. I would only steer someone to Toyota now to buy the last of the real 4Runners this year before they screw that up too. I'm looking at the Pro 4x instead.

I went it to a toyota dealer last week as i needed some parts right away and i was flabbergasted at the ar5 pricing . People will be turned off for sure .

I am thinking the New SR54X4 2023 bought January24th last few on the lot for 39K Sticker was 42K with rear window technology package ,V6,, tow, power seat. Engine oil cooler turn signals on the side view mirrors was a good deal. They also gave me 16K for my RAV4 2017 with 93K on the clock. So .... Imma keeping this truck . Just turned 2000 miles this morning 10 weeks with the truck. 10-15 years to go. By the way it drives great power is great not sure where everyone says the V6 is slow.

Yes, all the new Tacoma’s have lockable tailgates with the key fob and I’m pretty sure they all have keyless entry now

Keep in mind unless it's a manual transmission SR only comes with 228 hp engine without turbo intercooler or oil cooler

Yep- was ready to buy then the prices shocked me. It’s a damn mid size truck ? Wtf. 2024 Chevy 2500 crew cab short box work truck with 4x4 and z-71 package. $55,000. Several on the lot. Why the hell would I buy a damn 2024 Toyota crew cab for $45,000 ? Toyota dealer thought he had bars of gold for sale. Told salesman… “that’s a damn mid size truck and a small 4 cylinder engine !!! I have to pass. “

I am my local Toyota dealer other issue. I saw demo model of 2024 Tacoma TRD OffRoad 4x4, 6spd manual transmission. MSRP over $44,000, somebody test driving it.🤷🏼‍♂️

Toyota figured out these trucks are emotional buys and people are gullible enough to fork over a premium. How many times have we seen these trucks hauling / towing / muddy from off-roading. Yeah I had to talk myself out of not getting one of these things to tow around a jetski every other weekend and ended up w a new Outback Onyx that has more features for $6k less than this base model. Yup not as cool as the Tacoma but just couldn’t pull the trigger sorry…

Payload for sports and offroad 4x4 is about 1250 pounds, for these with 4x2 I'd say around 1500-1600

As to the second part, they have courted a new and younger customer base more inclined to emotional purchases and shorter ownership times. They went after the "I need a new iPhone every year" crowd. In my opinion they have no claim to their past reputation any longer. If you want a bulletproof Toyota buy the 2024 4Runner this year before it's gone. It is the last of the old breed.

Inflation facts for you-in 2002 I paid $26k OTD ($2k off sticker) for a double cab Limited 4x4 Tacoma. That equates to $45k in 2024. Let that sink in. I’d say that $40K SR is fairly priced.

Your inflation numbers are correct and most people don't realize that aspect. However, you are comparing apples to donuts there. This is a base model 4x2 vs your top of the line 4x4. Go look at what a top line price. Toyota is way off the market here, all you have to do is look at the competitions price for base 4x2 in their lineup.

@@Scroll_Lock huh, even the title of the video states it is a 4x4. Also, I always consider the amount of “work” a truck can do. Even the new base Tacoma will run circles around my old Tacoma. Towing, payload, comfort, fuel mileage and safety to name a few. To each their own.
