24' TRD Off-Road is number 1 on my list when I'm ready to buy later this year. That's only if Toyota dealers are actually selling them for MSRP. Seen too many dealers doing criminal level markups on popular cars/trucks in the last year to get my hopes up.

I have my eye on a 2 to 3 year old 4Runner trd off road and these are just sitting at lots. I’m not the case on those as they’re probably a hotter model. These Tacomas are going to be expensive so they’ll probably sit too. If you wait til the end of the year and one is available that’s the time to strike imo.

The extra power of the hybrid is great, but it would have been even better if they could improve the MPG.

@llegosdds I don't think the MPG ratings on the Max Tacoma have come out yet, but looking at the same setup in the Tundra, there is not much difference in MPG between the full ICE and the hybrid. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

For what, $55+ on a midsized truck, not having rear AC vents and no center arm rest is just wrong. For the price, it's annoying that these manufacturers are going the cheap route and then expecting us to still buy it. Ford is doing the same thing on the new, US spec'd Ford Ranger, by excluding the rear AC vents. It's already available everywhere else but not the US. WTH?

@@richshan529 They do have vents. They are under the front seats. Which is where you need them because that is the one place air from the front does not circulate to the back. Believe me, in the winter, having warm air hit your feet is much better.

@Dusdaddy You're right. That is where you get your heat from but it's just not enough when you are looking for cool air in a hot car. My bride will often sit in the back seat with our son when we have her Mom riding with us or my Step-Dad riding with us. Mrs. Menopause wants air, on her face, when she's hot! My truck has it. But some of these midsized trucks have done away with that option. If memory serves me right, the GM twins have them but the Taco and the Ford don't.
@Dusdaddy
@Dusdaddy 7 ай бұрын
@@richshan529 That's funny because I always got the complaint they were too close and made them cold so they shut them. To me, not having a rear powered slider is the deal breaker.

this spec just showed up on a local dealership allocation. I was going to go your route a non hybrid silver off road. but this is really tempting. a more powerful inverter, bigger brakes and differential. unfortunately bigger price tag. but I wait 30 years to get a truck go big/midsize or go home. lol. really appreciate you and Bryan. I told him on the tacoma 4g message board my first mod is to put y'alls sticker on. I am a former Texan. thanks!!

With my local Toyota here in MA, I got a 24' TRD OR trim on order, no markup, out the door 50k even. Thrilled! First boxed frame Tacoma with a real interior and a commercially duty tested turbo and beefed up block. Much better than the old v6.

@@mikehunter09hunter94 there’s so many more things about the 4th gen that’s better, fully boxed frame not just a crappy c channel frame on the 3rd gen, the v6 is sluggish and slow and the v6 never seems to be in the right gear in 3rd gens. The new turbo 4 cylinder has been in many other Toyota products and has been throughly put through its paces, the turbo has also been held to a commercial duty spec. I think the 4th gen will continue to hold amazing value.

@TheBRUINS1337 I don't have any problems with gears on 23 tacoma. Just watch toyota master tech on Car care nut channel. He has video on 23 tacoma and on new 4 cylinder turbo. He is not so sure about 4 cylinder turbo and recommended wait till bugs will be ironed out.
@TheBRUINS1337
@TheBRUINS1337 7 ай бұрын
@@mikehunter09hunter94 I would say there is minimal bugs to work out as this isn't a brand new Toyota engine design, the 4cyl has been used in quite a few other applications within Toyotas for years now, this motor has been duty tested now for a while. Ive watched almost every video comparing 3rd gens to 4th gens and they have gone above and beyond on duty testing the new turbo. Most 3rd gen tacoma owners have reported the 6 speed trans in them is never in the right gear for passing or hard accelerations.

I have so many questions about the batteries in the hybrid. Really cool to see under that back seat! Is there only one battery or is there another on the other side? How long can you run at the max 2400 watts before it depletes the battery? Can you keep something powered up while the keys are not in the vehicle? I keep hearing about running a refrigerator but will it run all day while I'm not driving? Will Toyota eventually make a lithium battery so that it could be smaller and then you would get back the under seat storage that I know I would miss? Can you add more capacity yourself or convert to lithium yourself? I feel like an awesome refresh for a later model would be lithium and get your storage back at least on one side? Also, what about these new headlights that were supposed to come out for all vehicles? The ones that they have had in Europe for years now that do all kinds of things that until recently were not allowed in the US. I heard the rules changed and now they are permissible. Its also a shame that you can spend 40, 50, 60k Plus but your not getting so many things. Finally, the backseat does need a complete redo. It needs to fold flat and give customers better storage. Also, that tiny back window is a joke. It doesn't need to be like the Tundra but 2x as big would be so nice. Vents for rear passengers, center arm rest, and another inch or two of leg room. It would still fit in the garage with all these changes too.

I have a 2021 TRD OR and I'm 6 feet tall. The front seat has more travel than I need and I never have rear seat passengers. I can give up that 1 inch leg room with no problem. I rented an F 150 for a week. Great truck with a rear seat the size of a sofa compared to Tacoma. The F 150 felt like driving a bus and could barely fit in my garage.
