Amazing how much traction control with 4WD assisted the truck to get up the hill without engaging the rear locker. Great demonstration!!!

Looking forward to seeing the difference in traction control between 4H and 4L. In TFL's video with the limited trim, it made a huge difference. The traction control programming between 4H and 4L seems to be quite different.

Previous gen had rear wheel Faux LSD in 2wd and traction control off, it was usable. Did they switch to some form of Atrac with traction control on now? Either way it didn't work well in 2wd

I would be curious what the actual lift is on this vs the sr5, and the halo trims. Also what is the biggest tire you can get on there without modifications. Is a factory lift kit going to be available for this trim non- hybrid

Truck looks outstanding! I think the approach angle on the 3rd generation was 36.4?? Did the approach angle come down??? Seems like the 4th generation sets higher 🤷🏼‍♂️

Have my deposit since first release of it for trd pro or trail hunter for i want the hybrid. Below was commit on loud engine. I test drove new Colorado when it 1st came out and i thought it was loud but liveable. Is this louder or ?

That's a super nice setup for the new Tacoma that's the way (or similar) I'd like to get one but I got the V6 manual transmission & just got the OTT tune it drives like a different truck now lol

Did you try out the crawl control yet? Does it work? I'm asking because in my experience, Toyota changed something on it. I had a '16 TRD OR, auto trans and the crawl worked as it was advertised and was excellent. Then I went to a '18 TRD Pro manual so, no crawl. Then I went to a '20 TRD OR with another auto and the crawl is no where near as good. Even on the slightest incline it taps out. Now down hill, it works as you'd think. Toyota said it works fine, I said it clearly does not, never got fixed. Thanks, great video :)

beat them by at least 6 hours, TFL should be able to do a direct comparison with the Trailboss. Trailboss should be similar to the TRD and the ZR2 should be comparable to the TRD pro, although I think TFL got an SR5.

2.4 Turbo, non hybrid "i-Force". "i-Force MAX" is this engine with a hybrid system added.

I couldn’t buy the previous gen Taco because the 3.5 had NO low end torque. I’m hoping this powertrain has more low rpm guts AND is as reliable. Time will tell.

Regular MPG test. Then if it doesn't require break-in throw a trailer on it and do a MPG with it. Use a cargo trailer with some wind drag.

No desire to get a 4th gen and plenty happy with my 23 TRD Offroad, the very last of the 3rd gen V6! See how long that turbo lasts under the stress it's put under.

Oh I hate that 2H 4H 4L transfer switch... not liking any of that on the center console where the dog can step on it.... Nope! You will hate this - but my Frontier Pro4X interior is superior... But the Tacoma is pretty cool - if that 4 banger - Turbo holds up.

Those angle numbers aren't that much better than the new ranger. Like for you guys to put the new ranger to the same test. Thinking a XL with similar equipment will do the same

I was wondering with the new Ranger if the FX4 will fit 33" tires, yes for the Raptor but it has completely different fenders. Toyota only has one set of fenders so all Tacomas should fit 33" tires.

So it’s a TRD off-road yet they put cheap tires on, side steps that will catch on everything, coil springs, which require a trailing arm that will catch on everything and very difficult to lift without major expense and an exhaust that I promise you will get ripped off or smashed the first time you do any type off roading.

Truck looks terrible rims not a fan, everything else looks like a bunch of pep boys bolt ons. Placement of front hooks not ideal try getting to those when you buried it good luck. Good video though 👍🏻.

It does sound like a cement mixer lol. But I have high hopes. I'm keeping my gen 3 and giving my Gen 2 to my son when my Gen 4 shows up in a week or two. The Tacoma has always been a letdown in the hp and torque neighborhood so we'll see. It I'm not impressed I'm not bound to buy it and will shift to a Tundra.
