As a man in his sixties and the owner of 31 bikes over the years three bikes stood out for me as personal favourites, the 1980 Yamaha 350LC, the first R1 (1998) and the 2014 GSX-R750 but since getting my Street Triple RS six weeks it's my new number one, that IMO is how good it is, it has raised the bar for middleweight nakeds.

You had all the great bikes, nice... I never realized how popular the Triple is. The new one gets praise from expert track riders along with the average biker. While the Triple does well on the track from all the reviews, its the road performance I am most interested. I real don't care how good it tracks, I want to know how well it does on the road, and from all the comments and from the average reviewers... its a winner.

@@gryphongryph I've a friend roughly the same height (6'3") and he reckons it's one of the most comfortable bikes he's owned, my problem was being just 5'6" (1.68cm) I was worried that I might not be able to touch the ground especially as this years RS is 836mm seat height but it's so light and well balanced that even tip toeing it feels fine.

Hey man, thanks so much. Ha... I'm not very polished, but it sure is fun doing these videos. I think triple is a mix of a sport bike and a naked bike. Your back stays happy for the most part, but it can holds its own when you hit the curves and even the straights.

Awesome! Love the 24s. I have a ‘22 RS. The only thing I wish it had was cruise control. I’m 47 and have had many bikes, street and road. This is my favorite one. The street triple is the best middleweight naked. And perhaps one of the best all around naked bikes. It’s great for general use motorcycling, loves curvy roads, it’s smooth and refined, the quick shifter is awesome. And it’s also great for track days. I do some light touring on mine. I can ride it all day no problem. But it’s obviously not an ADV or bagger. For a guy like me that does a few hundred miles of backroad riding every week as a hobby it’s as good as it gets.

G'Day Ken. Glad you are really into the Trumpy 765RSbrother. I'm sure it wil most definitly scratch that "hooligan" itch for a while to come. Going to love to hear the sound when the exhaust is done mate. Speaking of new bikes brother,I had to make the dreaded decision about whether or not to keep the fjr1300. After a couple of scary "Oh sh*t!!" moments of late, I had no real choice but to let the girl go. My medical situation has finally dictated that I get something lighter and smaller which will allow me to keep on riding even though the distances travelled are somewhat reduced. "Say hello to my little friend" as Al Pacino once said. Goodbye fjr1300, hello Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor. No laughing please!! LOL. Great bike, old style, 154.5 lbs lighter than the fjr and i didn't have to use a single penny of my own money to buy it!! In fact, the will pay ME to have it. Great trade in price which also allowed me to accessorize the bike to the max, including an aftermarket full exhaust system. Sounds so deep and throaty compared to the stock system. Hell, I even get to put a few grand into the bank as a bonus! The money into the bank was the reason my beloved wife didn't hit me around the ears with a rolling pin when I told her about it. 🤕🤣 Getting the "Baker Express" colour code, so I have to wait a couple of weeks for it to get to the dealer,. So there you have it brother, I'm finally broken enough to warrant going from the "big boys bikes", to the more sedate, but still fun "half pint" bike. Life goes on. Had to laugh when you started speaking in the 3rd person context, but hey, your bloody lucky mate. Nine of the ten voices in MY head tell me I'm a nutjob, whereas the last one just f**king hums!! Go figure!😜🤣🤣. Anyway brother,enjoy the hell out of your new Trumpy and I appreciate the ride and the conversation as usual. Ride fast, ride safe.

Nice bike. I picked one up in silver and love it. Question for you, how'd you get the side panels off to swap out the turn signals?
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Жыл бұрын
Super Simple... there is a push pin on the inside panel, the black part. A small tool like a allen head... a number 2 or 3, just push it in and you can remove the fastener. Gently pull the colored body panel out and slide it towards the front of the bike. You will see the turn signal wiring. When you put it back, put some lube on the rubber grommet, it stops the grommet from pushing out. I have lost so many grommets not paying attention when putting the panels back on. Its just the one rubber grommet that needs very little lube... I use WD40.

I just tried to install my Leo Vince yesterday on my 2024 (with 2021 headers) and i found a couple things. 1, the stock radiator bracket hits the 2021 headers, so i just drilled a hold above the one thats already there on the radiator mount and it worked flawlessly. Also, they do not include a specific exhaust hanger on the 2024s so the exhaust NEEDS to bolt to the rear sets. Leo's do not work because of this, But i think the Yoshi bolts to the rear set so you should be all good there! The headers are super easy to install!

They apparently did change the exhaust to increase flow, and that may of been in the headers. So changing it to a previous models version **may impact performance.
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Жыл бұрын
The header is almost identical. The only real difference is the cross over tube on the 2024 is about 1/8 inch lower than the older header, can't see that doing much. What is different, is the size of the cat and the pipe going into the muffler... its larger by a lot, but it goes into a very restrictive muffler. Not having anyone info from the engineers, and I could be wrong, but I would think the increase in compression ratio, different cam timing and turning has more to do with the power increase over the older model. My experience with the slip on on is an increase in mid range power, but that's just from what it feels like to me from when it was stock.
@reddpill
@reddpill Жыл бұрын
@@Yo-Ken The lowering of the cross over tube might actually help increase torque, including the bends at further down locations. With the pipe being enlarged into the muffler may help with velocity as there is a decrease of pressure thus creating a better draw in the headers helping with overall flow. Triumph looks like they tried everything to increase torque, as it wasn't the top end letting it down compared to the competition. hence the lowering of the gears also.
@reddpill

*H pipes deliver low-end torque as opposed to the high-end torque from X-pipes. The H shape design creates some backpressure, leading to low-end torque.

Well I think reading to much into this. Look at the specs... peak torque for last year's model is 58lbs 9350. The 2024 is 59lbs at 9500. The cross over tube is a non issue. I just sold my FZ1, it was tuned and a beast. The only time I felt a difference with the FZ1 to the Triple is when you get past 110mph. I think either one would be great. I went with the Triple because around here there are lots of MT09's and wanted something different. I average around 43mpg.

@@Yo-Ken I was thinking I could just restore the normal sprocket sizes, like the Street Triple had in previous years, to lower rpms a bunch in every gear. That would get me much closer to the mpg I want. It will make the engine last longer too. Anyway, I'm kind of scared though that if I get the MT-09 SP that they will just revise it next year to compete better with the new 765.

@@lateralus9244 I could see that helping the mpg. I think the current MT09 will be around for a few more years.

@@Yo-Ken Yeah, nearly everyone around me here has a Yamaha as well -- or so it seems. I don't see a lot of newer MT-09s, or even a lot of MT-09s in general, but that's an excellent point! I bought my DLR Cruise Control today so I guess I just need the bike to put it on. It's too bad that the DLR switch may not work, per someone that said theirs didn't in a conversation you had with them on another video of yours. That's really frustrating! I hate that asymmetrical one-eyed monster being lit up all the time like that -- be really nice to find another way to shut it off with that switch.

Thoughts about trading a r6 for this exact bike ?
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken 8 ай бұрын
Handling wise, you won't give anything up. The Triple makes more power and will accelerate better because of the tightly spaced gearing... comfy, but still sporty. The R6 has the better wind protection when tucked in and clip ons for that better track experience. If you like sports bikes, you will feel right at home, but with a more comfy riding position.

@@Yo-Ken yeah I test rode one and really liked it a lot. I live in Florida so the r6 isn’t that practical here and I haven’t done track days in about 2 years now. My only concern is reliability with the triumph as I’ve had a trouble free 10k miles out my r6 and know it will go every time.

Mt 10 more comfy?
@Yo-Ken
@Yo-Ken Жыл бұрын
When I sat on the Mt10 it was a more straight-up riding position. The pegs were not as far back. Depending on your riding style, I could see the Mt10 more on the comfy side.

An amazing bike that you can't get out of 3rd gear because anything above 70 mph and you are being hammered by the wind. The bike would be so much better with a full fairing.
