84 xt600 was the funnest motorcycle i've ever had. kept my life exciting! those were the days

I doubt Yamaha will bring back the XT500 and make it retro looking like their old 1970's XT500's. But if they do, I would probably buy one. I owned a 1978 XT500 and loved that bike.

The Honda cl showed promise but to me backfired on. A none retro shape that I grew up in , maybe Yamaha can do better , that thing looks great but question will it be another flop if changing the design. 😡

Pay attention all designers of motor bikes; its not flipping rocket science: if you really want something to really appeal to bikers, then Honda take the XT 500, and re-manufacture it as it once was, and only change things that were failing on the original bike. Update it with modern equiipment, electronic ignition ie brakes and discs and cables. But other than that, leave it the fuck alone. That means an air cooled engine with a kickstarter and absolutely everything else the same as the original, no tech, no water cooling, no nothing. and sell it for an affordable price! You wont need anywhere like the development costs, as you would an entirely new bike. If the Germans can sell the BMW Rnie T 1200cc scrambler with an air/ oil cooled engine, and pass the strict german laws, i'm sure all other manufacturers could do so too. but alas, we see modern " retro's " that are huge tubs of lard, take the "retro " Triumph Bonnevile, 1200 cc water cooled mass bike that has fake looking carbs, and engine covers , weighs a quarter of a ton and cost an arm and a leg! Or the new BSA Gold Star, which is just soiling the name of a once great bike! You get my point, all modern retros are fake, and living off of the memories of the original bikes, that some of us still remember!
