I've been running a 22gt for a little over a year and i have to say i am beyond impressed. Backpack wolf rifle and match guns. Anyone that is interested in this cartridge plug the numbers into your app, 90 atips are within 30 foot lbs of energy at a MILE of a factory 143 eld 6.5 creed load. The thing is a monster. 4.9 mil to 1k. The bc is higher then specified from the factory on these as you are at a higher bc. Just ridiculous.

Split sleeves, such an easy and great concept.. too bad the custom rifle shop in my area was either too lazy or in too big of a hurry, but the barrel of my 45-70 Handi that I had cut down, re-crowned, and threaded for my SiCo Hybrid, shows the marks of negligence.. Do you lose sleep thinking about tiny variables? And…. Have you ever “felt” (at the end of a build) that what you produced is perfect? Really cool to see this light build. I’d like to have the same in 7mm-08 for eastern whitetail. I am very grateful for your content. Thank you.

I know I said the 223 trainer was going to be a prairie dogs worst freakin nightmare but I think them little guys better start worrying even more... LOL I ended up having g a 22-250AI built with a 24 inch fast twist barrel so I can shoot the 22cal heavies. It should be ready any day now but I did it because it brings the 22-250 REM to modern times and it makes much more versatile then just a varmint cartridge even though I've killed deer with the 22-250 Rem. I think this rifle/cartridge combo is going to give my 22-250AI a run for its money and can't wait to see how it does. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

Berger 85.5, 90, 95 smk, 88 and 90 from hornady Varget to 4350 speed powders all work well, but not surprisingly, rl26 is a monster for accuracy and speeds if you use then heavies. A 1-8 will stabilize most of those bullets when running at the speeds it can produce, but id leave the 90 and 95s out.

If you're getting those groups WITHOUT the proper load development done yet, why would you even care about a tuner at all?? With a slight touch of load development he's gonna have this that thing printing single hole groups at 100, or probably even 200 yards.

Why not go with AG composites... Its even lighter than that stock. The privateer comes in sub 20 ounces. Also I am curious to see how good a aluminum body receiver holds up with hunting. Up here in AK my concern with these is they will scratch and gouge way to easily. for just a few ounces and I mean just a few you can go with the terminus apollo lite and be better suited without having dissimilar metals squeezed into each other.

great job on the rifle. I saw your 223 trainer cool build cost effective to shoot and many applications but with great offering like the 6.5 grendel and they are the roughly same price per round that would be my personal choice. thanks for the great cids keep it up

I've been thinking about updating my old-school walking varminter, a Sako L461 custom in .222 Remington. I like the .222, I just wish that the rifle had a bit more ooomph at longer ranges (I'm not as sneaky as I used to be) and the bore has 20 years of wear. I'm wondering how fat of a round I can fit into the action...specifically, the 6mm ARC or 6.5 Grendel size case. I have some 6.5 Grendel rounds and it looks like it would fit, but I'm not a machinist , my eyeballs are not to be trusted for precision work and so I would value an expert opinion.
@Greyzonecompliant
@Greyzonecompliant 2 жыл бұрын
I have seen some vixens in 6ppc. And it needs the same size bolt as the Grendel, or other cartridges of the 220 russian offspring. As for maximum cartridge length that will work/feed i dont know. If you get a barrel in 204 ruger, it might be the quickest/cheapest change for a more flat shooting rifle. And you can still change the 222 rem barrel back if you want to.
@r.awilliams9815

@@Greyzonecompliant As it turns out, the .24 Nosler will fit, and I wouldn't even need to have the bolt face opened. Feed rail work would be necessary, I believe. The new Nosler manual shows velocities ranging from 3400 fps with 55 grain bullets to 2600 fps with 107 grainers in a 24" barrel, a substantial improvement over the .222 Remington.
