We spent 24 hours in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Join us as we travel from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai by bus, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Northern Thailand. Traveling in Thailand is super easy and affordable, making it the perfect destination for budget travelers and digital nomads.
We checked into our Airbnb for the week and were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic accommodation available in Thailand. Our apartment buildings usually have gyms, pools, working spaces, and libraries, making it the perfect place for remote working.
Our first adventure was to visit the Doi Suthep National Park, where we hiked to a very big waterfall and learned about the golden triangle. This area is where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos meet, and was historically known for opium trading in exchange for gold.
One of our favorite experiences was visiting the Karen tribe village, a minority tribe that has settled in Thailand from Myanmar. We saw how they made incredible scarfs, coffee, and serious cigars while learning about their complex history.
Hiking to the highest point in Thailand was also an unforgettable experience. We were surprised by how cold it was, and we loved the misty, mossy temples that we didn't expect to find in Thailand. The range is part of the Himalayas, and you can technically walk to Everest from here, although it would take a very long time.
Finally, we visited the incredible Doi Inthanon National Park, which was picturesque and surreal. The misty landscapes were incredibly beautiful, making it a perfect spot for photography.
