You know who else likes Oya Stone? Frank Lloyd Wright! He chose it to be used as a facing material on his design for the old Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Unfortunately due to a variety of issues that led to an overall decay of the building they demolished it in the 60s and replaced it with the current building. There is however a rebuilt portion of the old hotel, with the decorative Oya Stone in place, at the Meiji Village Museum in Inuyama.

I never would have thought a quarry would go on to my list of places to visit, but this place looks so cook!!! I love stone oven baked pizzas (I even have a pizza stone for when I make pizza at home) and I bet it tasted great! The rock patterns were also super cool, 800 yen is such a great deal they could ask for more imo!

The beautiful serenity of this location made me homesick for a favorite spot my cousin used to take me in Yokosuka. Loved the cave at the quarry, too. The stone is amazing! Now I'm hungry for gyoza, sukiyaki and the Japanese breakfast that Satoshi had. Thank you for the wonderful mix of history, beautiful locations, and the mouthwatering food!

Lovely tour. Tochigi looks like a beautiful place. I used to love the flavor of raw egg when I was a child. However, it has been so long now that I am not sure I could eat a raw egg. For all the people who might have a problem with the raw egg, you can always put it into the soup, which looked hot. That would slightly cook the egg. Also, if the rice is hot when served, you could mix the egg withe rice to also slightly cook the egg. I was thinking if you don't like straight natto, same thing - you could mix it in the soup or with the rice.

800 yin is such a huge bargain for everything you get. A tour, snack, and souvenir? That's amazing. Just to go to most tour places in my state in thr US is over $10 US (I think that's around 12 yin but I'm not sure) and yoi don't get food or souvenirs. That's all separate cost. So this quarry was a gem. Also love the Gyoza part. It's one of my favorite foods so I love seeing it in do many ways
