In this video I wanted to create a floating bloom with the color palette we used in the last video. I hope this video is helpful and inspiring for you and you enjoy watching this half as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Base - Valspar Ultra High Gloss Base C: Found at Lowe’s (In Canada it’s called Valspar Hi Gloss Enamel Base C)
Varnish - Varathane Ultimate Polyurethane Water in Crystal Clear Gloss: Found at Home Depot, Menards, Ace Hardware, Walmart, Michaels, Amazon or google it

PM to Paint measurement (ESTIMATE!):
1.5oz (45ml) PM to between 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) to a 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) paint to start (for heavy body paints). If too thin or needs more color add a little more paint (or even a gel gloss), if too thick add a little more PM to thin more.

This is beautiful. I love the light blue in this bloom. It just adds a little something against the other colors. All the orientations were great but my favorite was the second one you showed.

Your blooms are my inspiration. (So far, I'm finding it very difficult, but I shall persevere.) I think my favorite orientation is the first one that you had on the easel.... but they're all good! Another gorgeous bloom.

All I can see is a giant butterfly but it's on the diagonal lol this is a great color palette it really plays well together I hope when you do a triple with it you try layering each of the blooms in a different order just so the color play in each of them is different other than that you totally nailed it as usual but in your favorite orientation my butterfly is flying downwards towards the right bottom corner I'm not a huge fan of gold but I absolutely love that crackle textured look you achieve with it. I haven't painted since the last time I sent you a picture and it was ages it seemed to get to that point where I felt like painting but your videos always excite me and get my artsy juices flowing you definitely inspire me and I can only imagine how many others! As always great work girl love it!

@@ThePaintedDreamer you're welcome sweetie I was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone else saw the huge butterfly 🦋 too (thankfully it wasn't just me) and saw her question and just thought I'd let her know who to contact and give her another option Incase she doesn't want to invest that much but the baby spinners are still pretty big and not as costly I didn't tell her about your square metal cake spinner cuz I didn't know if Amazon had them back yet or not but I've loved these glass ones shelee told me how to make they still spin as smooth as the first day I got them and they have been very well used. I do plan to get both sizes of the spinners Jessica sells after we move but until then I have to put my hoarding heart on lock down so I don't have any more stuff to pack and try to move then necessary (it's killing me not to buy more supplies especially with post holiday sales but I promised my hubby after the scroll saw I'd wait until we got moved to invest anymore money into this amazing hobby)

Wow, Jodie. Thank you for this wonderful Christmas gift. It's beautiful. I'm hoping you have a very artistic year in 2023, and that all of your paints continue to get along with each other. Everything you painted,, swiped,,and blowed on, was excellent, this year. I have an odd request for a painting. Use a pink very dark, and light and in-between pink, along with blue very dark and light and in-between blues, along with your cell activators. Then keep the paint moving to get purples. I don't know if that will work, and of course you can just do whatever you want. Just a suggestion. Love to you and yours. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I love this one for sure ❤️I have a question ⁉️ when I do these swipe s they turn out but when I do the bloom it seems to have white cells inside I thought maybe my pillow paint is to thin but it's not the same as yours I am going to try with thicker paint s ..any suggestions are welcome.. Thank you Carolyn, it could be how your executing the bloom that makes your white paint come up. I know if I blow too hard or blow down instead of out I get pillow cells that come up 😊

I’m glad you enjoyed it Jamie 🤗 this is called a floating bloom because it still has the integrity of the bloom I blew out and sort of floats in the middle there instead of a regular bloom which gets blown out and then you tilt or spin it off your canvas so it gets all stretched out losing the integrity of the initial bloom. Have fun with it 🥰🌺

Thank you Ronda 🤗 I do not add anything to my pillow, it’s straight from the can and I do not cover my pieces when they are drying. It depends on your environment, if you have drafts or a lot of dust or really humid etc. I’ve never had to though 😊

Hi Fátima 🤗 It depends on the technique you are doing, how you are executing it and what you are using as your paints, mediums as well as your consistencies but in general, force and gravity ultimately creates your cells, how well they come out after that is determined by what you are using, your consistencies technique, execution, etc. Hope this helps 💜

@@fatimaponte2181 floetrol is one medium you can use to achieve cells (US, Australian & Owatrol), silicone is another way and I know just Amsterdam & water can be another. These are what I have tried myself but I’m sure there are others as well that I haven’t tried or don’t have access to😊

Hi Jody. Can you recommend a spinner. I ordered one but I believe it was stolen or delivered to wrong address. I bought cake spinner. Very weak and slow as is my lazy Susan.

I know I'm not Jodie but she uses a spinner made by Jessica winterstrom (she's on KZfaq with links to where to get her spinners and they are amazing from what I have heard) but I built my own like shelee art uses I bought a 10" or 12" glass spinner (nothing spins as smooth as glass and it spins forever) off Amazon then I bought a 15" wood round that was 1/4-1/2" thick and glued the glass spinner In the center and sat a can of paint on it for a few days to let it dry and I love it you can put a finish on the top so it cleans up easily or make it as large as you want I actually have a 20" I made as well for larger pieces I hope this is helpful 🤗🥰🎨

Hi Betty if you are just starting out you can use a metal cake spinner (I use a few on my bench) for smaller pieces. The one I use in my spinner box is made by a friend of mine she makes them and sells them. Her link is below in the description box below the video if you want to check it out. For the metal cake spinners I have a couple in my Amazon storefront if you want to check them out or search for something similar. The metal ones like that spin pretty fast and are very smooth 😊
