Since fans had no problem rioting over a McDonald’s sauce, we imagine that it’s only a matter of time before they take to the streets demanding season 4 of Rick and Morty. But while they wait for their favourite entertainment to come back to them, it’s a good time to study up, because there are a ton of Rick and Morty behind-the-scenes facts that they just might not know about. Like the previously mentioned Szechuan Sauce riots, or the fact that Jerry drives the same car as the Griswold family from National Lampoon’s Family Vacation. And yes, we think there’s a Chevy Chase connection in there somewhere. How about how Bryan Cranston could have been the voice of Jerry, Justin Roiland wrote “Get Schwifty” when he was a kid and then built the episode around it, the show has only passed the TV-14 rating twice in its sordid history, and Rick and Morty might actually share a universe or two with Futurama! The Pickle Rick episode was inspired by an episode of Breaking Bad, you can actually play Jerry’s balloon popping game for real, Community definitely has some tie-ins with Rick and Morty, the pilot was written in only 6 hours on the same day the the show was sold, Rick’s catchiest catchphrase was actually an accident, we wouldn’t have Rick and Morty if we hadn’t lost Community, and Bill Cosby inadvertently has some involvement with the creation of our favourite cartoon! All these and more make up some of the wildest behind the scenes details about Rick and Morty!

I was a kid in the early 60’s when gradually the liberal mindset started to take control of Saturday morning. (The only time of the week cartoons were normally aired) For fear that children were going to emulate Wile E Coyote falling off cliffs or Bugs Bunny pushing his finger into a gun barrel. Of course, The Three Stooges shorts being syndicated helped moms become concerned for their child’s safety too. Here come the late 60’s & early 70’s. Safe programming for children. It was pathetic. Even as a kid I never thought once about looking down the barrel of a gun. But my parents taught me how to respect & shoot a gun when I was 7 years old. So I went from Hanna Barbera’s Yogi, Huckleberry, Quick Draw McGraw etc to Scooby-Doo. Archie & Friends and more. Until “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” arrived in 1988 and “The Simpson’s” a year later, cartoons on TV were horrible. The era of honey dripping animation finally ended and some pretty bizarre & interesting cartoons show up.

I agree that once a voice for a character is established, it is hard to imagine any other voice for them. Mike Judge stated in an interview that the voice has to fit the look of the character. You have to believe that the character would actually sound that way.

Rick and Morty had a couch gag with the Simpsons proving they're in the same multiverse and the Simpsons had a crossover with futurama , proving the Rick and Morty multiverse theory. Also, family guy (and by extension the Cleveland show) and American dad can be looped in because they cross over on multiple occasions

@yeah I'm John Assal Nope. The showrunners have stated that Rick will never time travel. He was quoted as saying that Time Travel was a completely overused plot device and he wouldnt employ it. In fact, if you look in the garage behind Rick's workbench there is a shelving unit. On the third shelf is a box that says "Time Travel Stuff". They LITERALLY put it on the shelf.

The concept of time has been established as pretty relative and man-made in the show anyway. So even if they do actually "travel in time" (go back to the past/future), they travel into universes which exist in a different timeline (for the travelers) but at the same time with the travelers. Idk if I'm making myself clear lol

Wouldn't Rick had to have time travelled to be able to know that Rick and Morty die in the universe they are now enhabiting? I mean the c-137 Rick and Morty show up just after the kill native R&M die. C-137 Rick would have to find a universe they already died in and deliver them to that perfect moment

The song Get Schwifty was from them making joke songs that they put on Summer's phone in a mobile game. They thought it was so funny that they put it in the show. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland talk about it in an interview.

The cartoon taking place in C-137 is debatable. Rick himself is often called Rick C-137 but that doesn't mean the universe he may or may not spend most of his time in is actually the same. It could simply be a different universe that was his origin. Wouldn't put it past the writers to mess with our perceptions.

Wait, Rick and Morty are from C-137 but that doesn't mean most of the shows are actually in C-137. After all, they've left their dimension twice now. The first time in Rick Potion #9, the episode where they messed up all the people in their dimension and the second time after Morty ticked off the squirrels in Morty's Mind-Blowers.

If Rick really is so smart and he wants the Mcdonald's Szechuan sauce, couldn't he reverse engineer or possibly even improve it using his knowledge of chemistry? I mean he may not be a cook, but he could definitely learn. The ingredients obviously come from earth and are most likely available for sale, so it'd be a pretty mundane task for him to go gather all them.

I’m so glad they didn’t blow Earth up every episode. It twisted my mind and made me appreciate the show as more than just fart and burp jokes. I told friends to watch it in order also because how much that episode and a few following ones based on Rick having destroyed Earth and continuing in another dimension.
