Great video as always, your evaluation of the 250i’s is spot on. I wanted a 300 because of my dry weight 210lbs, but found a killer deal on a slightly used TE250i and since I ride deep woods in the Sierra Nevada mountains I went with it. After 20 hours all I can say is WOW! While I do have some performance bits on it, this bike is damn right humbling on how good it is and how easy it finds traction in the nasty gnarly stuff. Yes, the 300 would be great, but this thing finds traction in places where my other bikes will not, I’m faster on this bike with less fatigue at the end of the day. The new KTM/Husky TPI bikes are killer for sure, IMHO the 250 TPI bikes are a well kept secret !!! Enjoy!

Growing up riding small bore bikes a 250 is still really powerful, to me. I am used to 125's and 250f's, so this last couple years on the TE250 have been awesome! I have never felt a need for more power anywhere in the rev's. Looks like a fun spot to ride!

So the power on the enduro bike (TE250) is not like overkill compared to the 250 4 stroke? I don’t want a killer machine that want’s to throw me off all the time.

I owned a 300 for awhile and when It was time to replace it I found a deal on a barely used 17 250xc so I figured I would try it. Turns out I don’t miss the 300 at all. The 250 has a bit less power but in a good way, I get less tired riding the 250. I don’t feel like the bike is dragging me around like the 300 did. I’m also not a big guy so that plays a factor as well. I also like the quicker revving of the 250, just makes the bike feel lighter and more agile. Overall I’m happy I went 250 and don’t ever miss the 300.

If your 300 feels like its yanking your arms off just hange the power valve spring, it takes 2 minutes. The green spring will make the power come on slower, yellow is what comes stock, and red "the demon spring" is the fastest. Just search "KTM power valve spring" you can also adjust them in and out from the outside of the bike, tighten for less power, loosen for more.

I'm coming from a 500exc bike and the 300 feels pretty tame. I tested the 300 and 250 back to back and found the 250 was more suitable if you ride on the pipe more, it certainly rev'd faster. I was used to lugging a four stroke and endless torque.and the 300 felt more familiar and similar to that experience. If I grew up riding two strokes I might have preferred the 250. I did buy the xc-w and in hindsight might have chosen the xc or a Husky version. KTM Xplor forks have been a bit of a let down with a lack of adjustability for certain terrain. Nothing that can't be solved with some tuning and re-valve work. So far no issue with the TPI set up.

I sold my 300xc to a friend in need. Got a good deal on a husky te 250 and love it as well. I'm heavier (need the next spring up) so it does take a little more clutch at times but, I have myself in higher gears lugging up climbs keeping traction to the ground. It does have a little more zap initially I believe. Both cc's are great having owned both.

Pain in the ass with the dealers this go-round for me too. My TX has run flawlessly though. I use the yellow button if it’s cold (per the manual). Let it run for ~20 seconds, give it a good blip to turn it off then let idle for a minute give her a few more twists and let it come down to idle and make sure it doesn’t die. If she idles strong at that point and the pipe is a little warm, ride easy for a couple minutes then let her rip. It’s a bummer that so many plugs are fouling because these things are great in most of our experiences!

I need to learn how to hop logs like you! I have been loving my 2019 xcw tpi :) Pro tip!: Take the bolt of little bracket on the kickstand the springs attach to and put some locktight on it! Mine recently went flying! Managed to find the springs and bracket but the spacer is gone so I have to order a rebuild kit and just use the rubber strap for now. Same thing goes for the steering stop bolts. Almost lost one it had rattled loose just hanging on by a few threads. Locktight is your friend :)

My background is on a 500exc. When I went to a KTM demo day I tried them all. The 250 was what I thought a 2T would be like, the 300 felt more familiar and like a 4T. The 250 was faster revving the 300 lugged easier. I ended up going with a 300. At 200 lbs in my socks I'm not a heavy weight but the extra power of the 300 felt better. @Daniel Bennett Yeah, love the 300 but have been away from it for much of this year. I've been rockin a Te250i for most of the year and although it doesn't have the same torque I'm really enjoying the liveliness of the 250 motor, revs a bit more freely. The 300 feels the most like a 4T. What year is your 500? Maybe update the map or have the dealer adjust the TPS to add a little more voltage. My 500 (2015) has the end cap screen removed and I adjust the TPS with a wee bit more voltage and it made the bike run noticeably stronger. I had to adjust the idle as well to once I adjusted the TPS. The 300 will feel a lot lighter in the woods for sure.

My new Chevy with fuel injection and a computer keeping track of air pressure air temperature and fuel flow runs perfect as soon as I turn the key. I’m being serious that I would think the new bikes being computer controlled, should run as soon as you push the button. Maybe if they get rid of the button and you had to spend more time kicking the heat you generate from your body could transfer To the bike and help warm it up, just an idea.he he he

I just bought the same bike I got ktm and husky fuel filters and 90 fitting kinda anal about it getting lean. Do you put a little extra oil in the fuel for initial start up

No. I don't think it's recommended but some people say it's okay. I know guys with 150+ hours on the original piston on tpi's with no issues. I can see where some of those upgrades may help but are they really necessary? You will notice every time a new model bike comes out the same companies come out with all sorts of "must have" upgrades for them.

I like your videos, but it bugs the shit out of me that you won’t share the locations! I’ve riden and ride quite a few of the places in your videos because I travel all over bc for work, I just don’t get why? You’re not riding in illegal or unethical places, for these areas to stay open we need more people to ride and support the systems or it’s all going to be closed. I don’t understand 🤦‍♂️ for instance I was working in FSJ and seen a video you had that ended up being onion lake! I had to do some digging to find out where these trails were! I just figure you’d have a better following of people if you included areas you rode all over bc, hell I’d even join you

I don’t post locations publicly for several reasons I’ve explained this many times and I’m not going to change the way I feel about it. Watch this video for a full explanation. Where Are You Riding? - Episode 50 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jr2mnrpnq9-5k5s.html

Here is my philosophy (for what its worth), ride 5,000' ASL and lower, 250, 4,000' ASL and above, 300.

@Reno 1960 do you think this still applies to FI bikes?
@enmerdeur
@enmerdeur 5 жыл бұрын
PNW Enduro No experience with FI 2 strokes so all bets off there. Could be a whole new paradigm. Overall I would prefer a 250 over a 300 for all the reasons you have stated if I could get the grunt needed at elevation.

@@PNWEnduro What elevation do you normally ride at? Our mountain trails start at 6,000' (1,800 meters) and go up from there.

You ride it like it’s a 4 stroke. Maybe a YZ250FX might suit your riding style better
