2nd Alarm Fire; 117 N. Ruch St., Coplay, PA | 06.11.15

At 18:16, Lehigh County transmitted a box for a structure fire at 117 North Ruch Street in Coplay sending Engines 511, 512, Whitehall Engines 3, 13 and EMS 62.
Chief 501 arrived and signaled a working fire in a two-story apartment building with heavy fire showing on the first floor. He ordered Whitehall Engine 3 (LC 3831) to come in and stretch two hand lines. The second due engine (511) tied into a hydrant at Ruch and Chestnut and brought water to Engine 3.
Chief 501 transmitted the 2nd alarm bringing in Whitehall Engines 4, 5, Tower Ladder 6 and Woodlawn's Air unit.
Engine 13 positioned in an alley to the East of the fire building while Whitehall Engine 4 stretched a hand line to the second floor apartment directly above the fire apartment.
Whitehall Engine 5 brought a supply line in for Engine 4.

That guy with the garden house really saved this house. He may not have enough water to extinguish the fire, but spraying water into the fire slowed the generation of heat and the spread of the fire.

Man oh man, the firemen showed up with their gear on, jumped off the truck and put the water on the fire. And damned quick! Not like MANY fire vids I've seen here. Great!

Great video, and great firefighting by all involved. Most fires in wooden structures can be killed, if you hit it with water when it's still small. I estimate the average response time to be like 15 mins. A wooden structure will be ablaze in that time, so a garden hose is still better than nothing. Use a pisspot to throw water on it; anything to delay the fire. Worry about your dignity later. At least, you still have a roof over your head. The firefighters did a very un-American thing; let others worry about lines to the hydrant; get a line to the fire and save somebody's property. BIG thumbs up!

When I head what the radio said at around 2:15 about the line of Thunderstorms, its like, thats all they needed right now was for lightning to start happening and maybe starting more fires around in that area......also was curious, when those hoses are fully charged, about how much do those weigh by chance?

WHOW! American fire fighter have learned. Cool fire with that what have before the fire eat more of this wood house. What happend, if it a garden hose - it is cooling the fire! Most american wood houses don't know sprinkler and fire breaks in houses! Then water running less 3 minutes after first fire apparatus arrived. Fire chief was visible! Yeah, some part between loose, but good was they stand at fire fighting, not sit only. Good that they use a save waiting point far away the fire place too. Nice that firefighter shows her own rooms. Why some people here comment bad if some people do something fully correct things?
