@CarpeSus Definitely pricey, but so quick and easy, I am happy with mine. Since it is radar based, I think it will work in the dark. That might be handy for you.

The K2 is good for what it is, a budget, low res scanner that will let you know critters are around. It is what I would consider a good, entry level scanner for someone running something like digital night vision and they want to be able to see more than what DNV will give them, but don't have $1000s to spend. That isn't me. For hunting from a box blind at a feeder at 100 yards or less, this is decent budget option. For spotting hogs at 1000 yards, you may want to spend more money. You can certainly spot hogs at a distance, saying inside 300-400 yards, but it can take longer to figure out what they are than if using something more expensive. I hunt several large fields (not monstrous, but a few hundred acres) and this optic doesn't really fit my hunting style. For example, I hunt 3 properties in a row and the middle property is 700 acres and I can scan parts of the adjoining properties at over 1000 yards and see if I have hogs or deer next door and the K2 is not designed for that. If I can see the hogs at that distance, they are just a few pixels and that won't give me the information I need as to whether or not I need to start hiking or driving.

The Pocket K2 is a budget friendly short range optic. It is best to quick spotting critters and then getting positive identification with something more powerful such as a Storm S3 or Leap 3 or 6. The biggest issue is that it is 256 resolution, which brings the price down, but limits some of the utility. I would like to see a 384 version come out, but I don't know if that is in the cards or not. I pro staff for RIX, but I won't know about any new products coming out until they put one in my hands for field testing.

@@CarpeSus I'm looking for something to just do quick spotting We Live in Central Kansas we have a lot of ground and cattle so coyotes are a problem so we cruise around and it would be a lot easier to spot stuff with a handheld then go to the rifle

@@jrockyhill Quite honestly, I don't believe the K2 or any 256 res scanner will be sufficient for that type of need.

I am pretty much a Grendel guy for the time being and I haven't run out of Grendel bullets. I hope to return to doing some necro work with the new Hornady ELD-VT or VT (however they want to badge them).

KZfaq changed their rules and ballistic damage and necropsies will get videos AGE RESTRICTED. When videos are AGE RESTRICTED, they are not promoted (or not much) by KZfaq and you can't make money off them (not that I make much money at all from KZfaq). As such, they are only seen by subscribers to my channel and people who happen upon them, such as browsing my channel or searching for them. All my necropsy work is done on Carpe AnalySus now. I AGE RESTRICT ALL the videos there voluntarily and KZfaq doesn't send me nasty notes. Slowly but surely they are AGE RESTRICTING a lot of my old videos on this channel.

@@ckiefner715Yes and No. It is their house and they do get to make the rules. I respect that. What I don't respect is the decisions that they are making, but that doesn't change the fact that what they say goes (within legal limitations). I have tried other platforms like Rumble and the number of views are next to nil. In the last few years, there have been a lot of folks that whined and complained about the evils of KZfaq and made grand announcements about leaving KZfaq for Rumble or elsewhere and then you know what? They either never stopped posting on KZfaq or they came back to KZfaq. KZfaq IS the biggest game in town right now.
