Squats are hard for me because of serious hip impingement thanks to football and snowboarding injuries but instead of widening my stance I have shifted my weight more forward and it helps me get deep without getting wide, while still keeping balance and a straight back. I love deadlifts though. My bench leverages suck, but as a return I have insane deadlift leverages. At 6'2 180-185lbs I do 5x5s at 405.

Meanwhile my bench max is 165. But I can BB Row 225 for 12. The back strength just comes naturally for me. Overhead press I do okay. My bench sucks. Which sucks because that's the lift everyone (lifters and non included) ask about most.

I look forward to the deadlift because it's my strongest lift. In my last competition, I hit successfully 766.1lbs/347.5kgs. It was the first time attempting that in my entire lifting life! My most difficult lift is bench because I want to hit 405lbs/183.7kgs for a pause rep Right now, I'm 361lbs/163.7kgs!

Do kegals and stomach vacuums sometimes. Do core work during workouts, including oblique work, back work, planks, and farmer walks. Let your knees go out/ over your toes. Get your spine tall and separated from your hips some. Get the amount that your glutes/ hips and quads/ knees are working to be pretty much equal. 3 queues for lifting: big toe into the ground, glutes squeezed and pulling apart the floor for the entire lift, brace even (well, especially) in the hole, and press your back into the bar upon ascending. Do paused squats. Stretch, such as static stretching after the workout. Eat properly. Build up serotonin levels through not eating carbs sometimes. Do 5 squats every morning. Be able to do a wall handstand. Maybe do dumbbell pullovers for your serratus. Do some cardio, such as 20 minutes of running (even if not very intense running, so, jogging) once per week to avoid injuries. Increase the quality of your sleep. Take vitamin D (D3), and B vitamin 50 complex. Maybe creatine; maybe BCAA's (such as plain BCAA pills after a certain amount of time into your workout), and maybe whey protein (since the quick absorption really kicks you into an anabolic state and this may also be good for managing stress). Maybe take acetyl-l-carnitine. Take fish or flaxseed oil. Take a multivitamin, and maybe vitamin C. Still hit some veggies if you are eating carbs. Make sure to get glucogen sourced carbs like sweet potato; not just stuff like fruit.
@sawyerr9841
@sawyerr9841 3 жыл бұрын
Do leg press some if mobility allows such/ you have a good leg press machine. Be sure to hit some single leg movements once per week, like bulgarian split squats or lunge variations, and single legged romanian deadlifts. Hit glutes through leg lifts and paused (as well as maybe hip circle using) hip thrusts with a padded barbell.

Love my deadlift days! It doesn't matter how exhausted or crappy I feel prior to whatever variation of the DL I'm doing, after a few warm-up sets my energy and clarity lines up and I rarely miss a rep. The overhead strict press is a close second to the lift I want to excel at, but that has barely inched for years. I just finished a block with cluster sets and it worked a bit, but still not the jumps I tend to see with all my other lifts and it is the lift where I tend to miss reps the most.

Man, I don't care if you lift light, heavy, or would announce you'd pick up nitting and that will be all your future videos; I'd still watch it because you're a great motivator to be better. Most technical difficulty; OHpress. Both my shoulders aren't in the best state and my wrist had all (yes, all) the tendons torn and reconnected, so I never feel stable and explosive. Standing, sitting, it just doesn't matter. Still doing it though. Most enjoyable lift: deadlift. Either it moves, and it instantly tells you your day, or it tells you to sod off and try again later. No compromise.

Hi Brian, my name is Brad Wilkes. First off, I've been praying for you and your wife, hoping that your medical situation will go well and you will find a solution. As for the topic at hand, I'd have to say overhead is my worst cause it socks and my favorite is the deadlift. And if you want to know why that is about the two lifts. It mainly has to do with my artial fribulation. I been trying to get back into the world of strength for a long time and I am always having to do a different procedure or stay in the hospital for medicine change that never works. But I digress. I love your videos, all of them are very helpful for me. Be strong brother and hopefully soon I'll get a customized plan from you. Thanks for taking the time to read my comments. Take care.

I feeel that the deadlift is the most technically difficult lift. Because it just has so many different ques to focus on at the same time, push through your feet, engage your lats, keep your arms straight, thrust your hips after clearing the knee, hip hinging. You have all these things to worry about, which leads to it becoming very techically difficult. That said, the deadlift is also the lift i look forward to the most. Theres just something about that movement, that just feels GOOD to do, regardless of how difficult it is.

I have most technical problems with the deadlift but I also look most toward deadlifting because when I have a good deadlift workout it’s the vest feeling ever. I used to have issues and look toward bench but then i got everythibg together there and it just became routine and it’s still my strongest lift. Squat i just got fixed so I’m making great progress there but it’s not so exciting. My ohp used to be my weakest lift but after watching all your videos I became pretty efficient in ohp

I'm in the same boat. My squat max is 465 and i am still progressing but man it's slow. 5lbs may take 2-3 months. Now I'm Brian's age so things don't go as fast as someone younger. Add in I've started BJJ and want to dedicate more time to that. So it might be staying there for a while. Which I'm ok with. 335,465,505 are respectable 1rm numbers contrary to what the internet tells you.

I struggle the most with OHP. I had a shoulder injury that eventually required surgery so it has not been perfectly stable or even, and my front rack position is not strong. Since the surgery I have been able to press without pain, but I still have a lot of stability work to do to get my shoulders even. I look forward to Deadlift the most because it requires the most focus since it is my heaviest lift. Knowing that I have to be dialed in, and loving how it feels after I moved all the weight, gets me fired up.

Due to a high school lower back injury (ironically from squatting), deadlifts are by far the hardest for me. I find myself trying to compensate A LOT to try and spare my back. I get past it to do them correctly, but it takes a lot of focus. For the one I look forward to the most, bench. I love bench. My chest has always been a strong point, I won all the pushup challenges in high school and did pushups with girls on my back to show off at only 95 pounds. I was arrogant about my pushups haha bench has always come the easiest to me and it was actually benching that got me into serious lifting too. Love it.

Deadlifts are the most difficult for me technically - I have the t-rex arm problem, and getting into a strong starting position with my lats engaged but my hips not too low is difficult. OHP day is always my favourite. It's not my strongest lift, but it's just the most fun; its easy to add variation and it doesn't leave me as beat up as other compound movements so there's more room for accessory work and other bits.

Deadlift is the one I look forward to the most. I feel it's when I am most powerful. Tough call on what I find most technically difficult between overhead and bench press. Of the other three, bench press is the one that requires me to really get dialed in technically. I am using bench press training as my main mode of chest training this summer and I am finding progress slowly there. I use a log and a Viking Press attachment for land mind for standing overhead work, but I feel technically speaking I'm good on those. I like neutral grip (or close) overhead more.

I love deadlifts and OHP, bench is most technically difficult for me.

A good recommendation in my opinion would be to watch Swede Burns on elitefts talking about how to best set up bench it helped me a lot when I began trying to improve technique.

Squats always feel like I'm missing something. Overhead press day is *slightly* ahead of deadlift day for most anticipated.

For me it’s overhead technically challenging and I live the overhead. I have only been doing standing overhead since January. Love overhead now.
