When buying Steinhart watches you get immense value for the money. Brands such as Fortis, Sinn, etc, will charge three times as much for the same movement, Fortis will in fact only offer divewatches with 200 m waterresistance as opposed to Steinharts 300 m. They WILL go up in price as second hand items. The brand itself is very popular on both the American and Asian markets and the ageing Günther Steinhart will eventually have to close his operation either due to lack of cost efficiency viability, a possible war with China, or in the event of either his death or retirement. Steinhart Watches are build to last, are very popular and cannot be obtained in a similar design from other manufactures - Who else will produce a Rolex Milsub or Starbucks model at that price of such high quality - Prices WILL go up !

That’s an interesting take! Let’s hope Guenther stays around for now.

The only way the price can go up in secondary markets is if people are unable to acquire them. Why would I pay more money for a used product when I can get a new one with no wear, a warranty, and better buyer protection for less? Unless Steinhart keeps releasing watches as tastefully designed as this one and then subsequently discontinuing them, you aren't going to see them apprieciate over time.

I bet! The titanium probably gives it a bit of a different look due to it being less shiny than steel. I didn't go for that one as 42mm as simply too big for my wrist, but if it fits your wrist it's also an amazing piece for sure 😉

I'm the 200th like on this video ;) !! And I completlely agree with you about steinahrt quality... I've got an "ocean two premium" ( black) .... that is more a steinhart "own design" than a "hommage" and I like it maybe more thant my other watches.... It's a perfectly versatile diver, rough, big presence, very fine and well designed dial, very classy for a diver, perfect general quality feeling, very precise sellita sw300 élaboré premium that keeps perfect time within +4 s/ day after one month of wearing... Think I'll be soon buy another one... GMT surely ;) Hi from France ! Merry Christmas everybody !!

This is my daily driver and I happy with it. Two gripes: To be functional as a GMT bezel, it should be bidirectional and 24 click. This is a unidirectional bezel and not 24 click. Also, when you change the local time as you travel, the second time hand (the GMT hand) also changes. Would be better if it didn't.

LOVE my Steinhart Ocean GMT. Yes, it is an homage to the Rolex Explorer II (1655) that was made from the early 70s to the early 80s. But it is no longer made...and used examples in decent condition go for about $30,000 USD! So the Steinhart gives me all the pleasure of that UNIQUE design for just $500 USD. And it is a better watch than that original Rolex! Milled clasp rather than stamped steel, sapphire crystal rather than plexiglass, a water resistance of 300 metrs rather than 50, and an independently setable GMT hand! It is a beautiful, rugged, exceptionally high-end watch. Steinhart rocks!
@FELIX4764
@FELIX4764 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. The movement in your Steinhart is the Sellita movement not the ETA. It is the Sellita SW330-1. It's easy to tell with the inner circle of the rotor pendulum. The Sellita is flat and polished. The ETA is ribbed. I have the same watch with the ETA 2893-2. No real difference, but thought I'd mention it.

I just received the 42mm GMT blue / black in titanium and it is initially very impressive especially at this price. I own a Rolex GMT II Pepsi and for the money there is nothing wrong with this Steinhart. The Rolex was roughly 19 to 20 times the price of this Steinhart. We will see how it holds up to diving on a regular basis. I am a professional Diver in Hawaii.

Thanks for your careful sharing of your experience with Steinhart. I have read a lot and listened to a lot of reviews. And while I like 42mm size, the straight lugs you mention(which has been criticized by many for years) of Steinhart, together with 50mm l2l makes it too big for me. And while 39mm with shorter l2l probably would work good, 39mm is a bit too small for my taste. But maybe this is a matter if being use to? I really like the blue-red "pepsi" style and it's a pity that Steinhart does not offer all watches with the backside window. Some have and other not, and I don't know why they chose to make it so.
@TheWatchScientists
@TheWatchScientists 3 жыл бұрын
Trust me, it’s really just a thing of getting used to it. My friend was the first to have a 39mm diver and I just didn’t want that. I kept saying it looks too small etc, but only because I wore big watches at the time. Now I simply love it.
@TheWatchScientists
@TheWatchScientists 3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what you usually wear but i normally like staying below 40mm an this Steinhart 39mm is on my limit size-wise because, like you said, the lugs. So it might be perfect for you 😊 And it definitely is simply something to get used to.
@patricj951

@@TheWatchScientists Thanks for replies! For a dresswatch I prefer a bezel size of 38-40mm(also worth to taking in consider is that in many cases the case is bigger than the bezel but in some cases the bezel has the same width as the case). My Citizen 200m diver has around 44mm bezel so in comparison 39mm would be small. And because of the wide bezel of a diver the dial will be smaller compared to a dress watch with same bezel width. Therefore I think the bezel of a diver should at least not be smaller than the bezel of a dresswatch.
@TheWatchScientists
@TheWatchScientists 3 жыл бұрын
Ok i understand, but if i see it correctly the lugs on that citizen diver are quite short while the Steinhart has longer lugs as you said. And in our next video we will be talking about how the lug to lug width is actually a more important indicator if a watch will fit your wrist. But it sounds like you need to find someone that has a 39mm Steinhart and try for yourself 😊

Thank you for your comments!
