When Jonathan Swann (an Australian) of Axios interviewed Trump, he dismantled Trump's bluster and facade. Trump held up charts that he clearly didn't understand and Swann asked him what the charts meant. Trump looked like a fifth grader called to the board to do long division. @KyleLeMaster 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - F-word regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in F-word regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, and the like. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, and the like. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda i s neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of F-word nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under F-word regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes the media are directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media are indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in F-word nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a F-word nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a F-word government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed . 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - F-word nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked and governments often refuse to fund the arts. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under F-word regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in F-word nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - F-word regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in F-word regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in F-word nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. F-word nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. Note: I've had to censor myself because u-boob hides my comments any time I use the "F-word." Meaning that authoritarian style of government driven solely by bigoted idealism:

@jamesdilger86785 ай бұрын
I like this idea, and think it's a good step (along with the limiting of time candidates are allowed to campaign) However, in this case, I think the politicians are already a step ahead of the game because they have learned that by simply being over the top outrageous they can get more airtime than they could hope to purchase through an advertising budget. Additionally, in today's world social media posts can't be limited or even censored (except for particularly egregious offenses) for these politicians. But, at least capping spending would be a start in reining in the chaos/ crazy. And at least you present an idea of possible changes to help the situation. Many people (including large numbers of those who could make major changes) propose nothing and simply complain that the current system(s) aren't working

By the late 80s early 90s nearly everything had been owned by the same 20 companies, fast forward 25+ years, almost everything is owned by the same 6 companies. A good recent example of the media being reluctant to discuss relevant news, or deciding what is 'news worthy' was that train derailment in East Palistine Ohio. a train derails in the middle of town and none of the main media outlets wanted to report on it. From what i saw there was no 'breaking news' report like there is when there is even when there is a car chase on the freeway. Fox, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC etc, none of them reported on the derailment, until it picked up undeniably high views on various social media outlets and even KZfaqr. less than 20 minutes of research explains why, the majority stock holders of all of those news media outlets are the same majority stock holders of Norfolk Southern. conversely, a accidental car crash at the US / Canada border was breaking news within 10 minutes of the crash, with several sensational reports that it was a terror attack.

The problem is that, as consumers, we generally don't have a choice to avoid funding media outlets that do not align with our desires for quality journalism. Fox is a great example that strong-arms cable companies into carrying them. When I pay my cable bill, I don't want to pay for Fox, but Fox convinces the cable company that I do. The cable company sees the same revenue either way, so there are no market forces to encourage Fox to improve or go out of business.

Too bad the Democratic party isn't in the forefront taking this approach or blasting this on every major network! They have a tendency to lay quiet thinking their accomplishments will speak for them (and it should) but propaganda is one heck of a drug and the Retrumplican party takes every available chance to normalize their facism/craziness and alot of Americans are gobbling it up.

One thing that grinds my gears is some news networks on election night don't inform viewers that rural voting places results come in earlier and city election places (which favor Democrats) come in later as there are vastly more votes to count. Not being absolutely clear with viewers gives some who don't understand how vote counting works the impression that the election is being rigged when the larger polling places come in later in the evening and swing the result.

Perhaps if we had a better education system then a 9th grader could explain to the adult how basic civics works. We have all of this information at our fingertips and people are still too lazy and too stupid to look things up themselves.
@PhoenixRising19755 ай бұрын
Not to mention absentee/mail-in & overseas military ballots! NEVER counted by election night. tRump is responsible for making people think that all votes are turned in and counted by 11pm on Election Night. He knows better-it was part of his stunt to claim 2020 was "rigged" & clearly believed by MAGAts.
@Alister2222225 ай бұрын
@@nw9353 Agreed - this is at its core an education problem. The US needs *compulsory* science and civics education. No opt-outs, no excuses. Other countries have this, and their populations are vastly more sane.

The Fairness Doctrine was run thru the shredder years ago. Reporters and news writers in general should adhere to standards of journalistic integrity despite their platform, but we all know big news has its own agendas and intelligent news consumers need to be smart enough to discern the facts from the fictions. In a perfect world we wouldn't need a Fairness Doctrine, but you all know how imperfect our world is.

When one is better than the other. Or why metaphorically gps maps are needed for today's issues when a moral compass used to be enough. Or what would Ben Franklin publish after his philosophy club met to discuss a modern issue. My hope is that you can reach conservatives and progressives to also start talking about fundamentals, what it means to wise and how (not who) to choose the best person for a job if you aren't qualified to do it.

I think it's awful that people pick on the way Biden talks when he has a well-known speech impediment. Everyone, absolutely everyone, has known for decades that Biden has a natural stutter and has been through years of speech therapy to be able to speak as well as he does. It's well-documented, and publicly acknowledged and written about and has been for a very long time. Making fun of him for stumbling a little in his speech once in a while is exactly like those awful people on that old episode of Mash who mercilessly bullied a guy for stuttering.

Sure, we'd all love to see journalists giving us the facts and the truth, can't deny that. But these days they (and the corporate media's administrators) are more on the side of advertisers and bottom-line revenue for the corporation. The more dramatic and outlandish an event is, the more screen time its going to get, and Team Trump knows that.

I worked for a newspaper for many years. One day I was discussing impartiality with the editor, and she said there is no rule of journalism forcing news reporters or newspapers to not be biased. It is only a desire to uphold the tradition of true journalistic integrity by editors, journalists and reporters that can save people's trust in reporting. Too bad so many have fallen prey to the desire for attention (and money from advertisers) to preserve what used to be a much-valued trait.
